Utopian Submarine - 2000W, Indoor, Perpetual

Nice screen now you get to sit back and watch it fill with budulars!

Wait til you see the next pics. No more pics in the dark, but I think its pretty full. No major buds yet, but hella bud sites.

5/7 plants under the scrog now. Taking quite a long time to do it. I have to admit they were more substantial than I thought. But I think its gonna work out just fine. I bent the heck out of one of the smaller ones. She may have trouble producing anything of substance, but the others are going in nicely enough so far.

In that pic by the bed they were pretty comfortably filling a 3x10 space. I'm hoping to get them into a 2x4 space.

That's all the update for now... gotta let the suspense build.

It's obvious that you've never sat on a wharf weaving gill nets but that job looks up to the task of catching it's intended target. :goodjob:

More fun stuff from the creative minds at 420Mag!

:peace:

I repaired a few small nets on my old boat. I had to follow a diagram to get it just right. When I was workin on charter yachts I learnt a lot of good knots and weaving techniques but still need my knot book to remember the difficult stuff. I'm thinking of doing a scrog in the new space. Plants go in tomorrow.
Woooo Hoooo. I wanna see your scrog pics before I go to bed and its 1/4 to 1 in the morning here.:peace::nicethread:

Sorry if I mis-lead you but I'm not doing ScroG. I'm looking forward to your pix!

It's almost 7am here and I'm way past bed-time! lol

:peace:

OK Success!

Its pretty much filled I'd say. ;)

The lights come on in 7 minutes - I'll have a pic or two up in 15.

Then its bed time.

I'm friggin tired. But tired like I was just having sex for 8 hours.

Here's the one shot I snapped during lights out.

First plant. Not woven yet, but in place. I think you can see her branches are going perpendicular to her stem.

BB and Update.

First half of the screen is woven. There are more knots than last time cause of the cuts when I removed the line from the last one. So far so good though. Now to weave the other direction. Gonna make these a little bigger cause the plants are pretty tall and I don't want to break anything getting them in there.

That is really cool. Always want to see one of these up close and personal.
Thanks :grinjoint:

Ok I just woke up a little while ago and all is well. I gotta say, for the first time since this room has been operational - it is full and comfortable, and I am liking the amount of space the plants are taking.

Things are good in the sub.

I don't think I did any major damage ot any of the plants when getting them under. But that was a shit ton of placement. Took a solid six hours of concentration and patience just to place them, but I think the results should be very good. I have my doubts about the genetics of this strain. two or three of the plants are pretty feeble compared to the others. But I don't think this six plants could be grown any more efficiently than in that scrog.

I'll give them a day to recouperate, then I will start to clear out more of the undergrowth and start an easy week of training the last of the tops. I am really excited to see this sucker fill. There is really no more need for much horizontal growth, so everything from here on out will go mostly vert. And there should be at least one bud in every square. There are a couple places where I actually wove multiple plants through each other. Gonna try to grab some good pics here, but I am feeling really lazy.

The room finally feels good. This is the first time in about 4 months where I see the light at the end of the tunnel, without seeing a ton of hard work that needs to be done to make it happen. And the big plants are fattening up nicely finally. I wish I had a ton of smoke here so I wasn't counting the days.

Minor Update:

I just changed the res on both the flowering areas. The ones under the scrog got a good standard nute feeding for 3 weeks into flower. I love it when they hit that week where the measurements match exactly with the bottle and there's no pH balancing needed.

The ones in late bloom however, they got a crazy full concoction. Gonna have to keep an eye on it. The ppm was only 1500 when I was done, but they got PBP Bloom Soil, Cal/Mag+, Sweet, Hydroplex, Liquid Karma, Silica, Gravity and Purple Maxx. They are just starting that fattening up phase and I want to make sure they have all the goodies they can want. I'll watch closely. Theoretically this should be their last big dosage of nutes. I'll top it off with a pretty healthy dose of just PBP Bloom Soil on Monday or Tuesday, then their next feeding will cut back dramatically on all the addatives. One top off on that about 3 or 4 days later. Then the flush. I'll flush when I see about 20%-40% amber. Then plain water till they finish. Should put us about two to three weeks out.

mmmm - getting close - no jinx - can't talk about it.

Yeah don't let the gremlin's know when your harvest is!!!!! They drop light bar's on your babies....errr wait maybe that was me. :grinjoint:

Your Scrog is looking great already, your plants should fill that thing pretty fast.

:peace: +rep if I can.

My reaction as well.

That's gonna be one hell of a full room in a week or two. Nice fix on the screen tho

She's looking good today - too busy to get pics today. Tomorrow.

No Gremlins allowed. I spray for them with a thing from my lungs called Bong Smoke. Application is required often.

Thanks! and Welcome! Took lots of work, but finally seems to be running smoothly.

Quick Update: All is well in the sub. The mom's area is filling to capacity even with my lst and topping. They are nice and bushy but there's only so much space.

Sooooooooo....
:smokin2:

Gonna need a mini-sub!

I should have two lights and a mover for a closet grow here in about 10 days.

I'll likely dump a few clones before then as I have multiple clones of all the ones I want.

Its gonna be Pro-Mix. Gonna put all the moms and the Barneys in there in 5G pots - some will likely go 2 per 7G pot. And some of the others.

I will take clones to get 12 similar plants under a scrog and 1 of each different pheno back in the sub for the next moms and leave the flowering area in the sub alone to empty. That will be three cycles through it and time for a cleaning and upgrade. Total of about 20-30 clones. That includes extras of course and we'll get rid of the weakest. All I will need is 18. One of each mom and 12 for the scrog. When I have taken all the clones I need, I will put the mini-sub into Flower. Depending on what wattage I get for those lights - that may have to be a scrog as well, but at least not an emergency one.

I may add a light mover to the sub. There may not be enough room at the ends with the ducting to make it worth while. Either way I will throw 12 clones of one of the Barney's strains under a 30"x90" scrog in the SUB. They will veg under MH and be topped till the scrog is 2/3 full. So finally I will get to do a proper planned scrog again.:slide:

For those wondering about the controller - I have decided not to try the co2 part of it right now and I have the rest running in there as we speak. Another week of testing to make sure I don't burn down someone's house and I'll post pics, schematics and code.

:peace:

Can't wait to see that set up.

Thanks. I am hoping very straight forward and simple. One 6" fan, light or lights and a mover. ProMix in Pots on the ground.

Nice net job. Does this make it difficult to water?

Good question +Reps.

I have done this size or bigger scrog twice.

Once in 5G pots on a 3x6 table that I hand watered. I kept a pump in the res with a 1/2" hose and ball valve at the end. Flick the switch on the pump power strip and open the valve and water by hand each pot. I let the drain from the table go to waste. There was sufficient power from a little 396gph magdrive to get the water the extra foot to the back ones out of reach. So mix nutes first - test and make sure its just what I want - then flick switch and water.

Now I have the Ebb and Grow buckets with my DIY poor man's controllers.

IMG_0118_6.JPG

The "real" ones use a double pump system with a float valve to kick on the return pump. That's seemed like a lot of extra things that can go wrong, so I made mine gravity based. From the controller bucket there is a 1/2" ball valve. Mine requires the reservoirs to be lower than the buckets. Theirs does not. But mine has cool psychedelic lighting from below - thats 3/4" and 1.5" for the to and from the controller buckets and the 2" Drain in the work table:

backlit_plumbing.jpg

And mine only has one pump that fills the controller bucket. It pumps up 3/4" tubing to that smaller pvc inlet at the bottom.

IMG_0126_6.JPG

IMG_0126_6.JPG

All these pic are from a month ago. The other night when I put in the scrog I added some tubing so I can reach the furthest valves easily. Then from the valve it goes to the buckets. Then INSIDE the controller bucket there is a 2" pipe that goes back to the reservoir. The top of that pipe is at the height I want the pots to fill to. Pump up, when it gets to that level it goes back to res, and the 1/2" tubing goes to the other pots to fill them using gravity power. I also have another valve at the end to flush or test the runoff. BTW - the pipes don't need to come fom the bottom, I just did that to save space.

So how do I water? 99% of the watering is done by the timer. But to add water and nutes to the reservoirs on the other hand...

Water in from the tap. I have a RO here and dont use it. My water is 50ppm and 6.2pH - couldn't be better really. I replumbed this room from an old bathroom. So the water goes right to the res. Turn a valve - water comes in. With about 20psi of pressure coming in - sufficient to fill that 20G in about one minute I think. Put it this way - if I open it up all the way its too fast. It will literally blow the pumps across the bottom of the res. Open the big 2" mutha on the sides and that sucker drains in about 20 seconds.

reservoirs.jpg

Then...

Just close the valve between the plants and controller.

Turn the pump timer from auto to on. So now its pumping and the circulation pump is going as well as the pump up to the controller and theres a nice 2" flow of water splashing back into the top of the res to add O2, but the plants are not getting any yet. Add nutes and pH balance to the res. It mixes them thoroughly. I test til I'm happy. When ready - I simply open the valve and put the timer back on auto. They get watered 30 minutes every hour and half.

There's a hell of an answer to what you thought was gonna be an easy question!

Edit: What's funny is I can drain both reservoirs and refil them with proper nutes and balance in less time than it took me to write this post!
