Day 36

Girls getting some sun today!! It's so bright today!!

Is it normal for some of the lower leaves to turn yellow? I read it happens during flowering naturally.

Ps. I fed them today!

Is it normal for some of the lower leaves to turn yellow? I read it happens during flowering naturally.

Yellowing of lower leaves during flowering is common, but much less common or not seen at all with plants that are getting the nutrients they need. I'm going to guess that that plant has a slight nitrogen deficiency.

Would you suggest wait until next watering before I do anything? I don't want to overwater the girls.

I don't think it's a panic situation at all. I don't know your fertilizing history, so it's hard to say what's best, but I think in general you would want to give plants with that symptom some half-strength early bloom mix (to use GH's term--bloom mix that still has significant N).

Hey scientific should I be worried about this cluster fuk lol? Should I cut some off?

My candidates for thinning/defoliating are:
  • Sick or damaged leaves
  • Leaves that are always in shade
  • Leaves that are shading buds
  • Leaves that are choking off good air flow through the plant

Any leaf that meets two or more of the above criteria is in danger of getting snipped. ;)

If it's of interest or might be of help, here's a link to when I started defoliating my indoor dwarf grow: Scientific's Hydro Dwarf Low Flyer 24/7 Illumination Fireplace Grow Journal - 2017

Thanks alot bud

Thanks alot bud

Happy to share what little I know. ;)

Defoliation is such an art form. I have watched a lot of videos on YouTube of guys aggressively lollipopping their plants. How much is appropriate is, I think, really variable, depending on strain, age, growing technique, lighting, and probably half a dozen more things.

The one thing that I think makes it easier is that if you're looking at a plant every day and can see how it responds, you can adapt as you go.

My exploding bush dwarf plant got heavily defoliated about five times and snapped back every time. (I have since come to suspect that its 24/0 light schedule may have made it extra bushy--something to look into next time.)

Closing remarks

Day 36

This has been such a fun journey, and I still have a long time to go! I'm learning lots everyday. Mostly learning from my mistakes. Gardening is lots of fun, and stress free!! At the beginning I didn't think they would grow. I though it's my first time growing anything I doubt I can get it to break the soil. My plants are beautiful, and I can't wait to continue the journey

It's bright as hell light deprivation should not be a problem with these girls. They have been exposed to so much bright sun and great LeD lighting
