Un-Lucky Queen 12/12 Hempy

Doc, I've got old timer's disease... I'm sure you said, but how much Osmocote and how big a bucket? Thanks.

:peace:

PS I had a Tito's 'tini for your girls last night... no nutes were mixed LOL

I've been hearing all about Tito's.....gotta try some.
So you mixed it up without a PK boost? No superthrive? :thumb:

The directions for how much Osmo to use are on the container...I forgot how much I used, but I went on the heavy side of things. Perhaps just a little bit less......

The soil containers are 1 gallon, the hempys are 10 litres.

Not unless you count olives<G>

3 gal rose pots are close, huh?

I've got the roto-hammer at the ready:yahoo:

3 gal rose pots will produce friggin huge plants! Make sure you raise the babies solo cups before transplanting

3gal is nominal. They actually hold 2.75gal of water (is there a cubic gallon?), which translates to a little less than 10 1/2l.

I want them to grow like sister Sue, she's short and stout, she never grew up, she grew out (apologies to Randy Newman<G>)

I'm not sure I understand the solo cup thing. They're in about 1/2gal pots (30% +/- perlite). When you say raise them, is that like the "plant 'em low they won't grow, plant 'em high they won't die" rule in landscaping?

If I'm being a pest just squirt me with AzaMax LOL

The roots need to develop in a smaller container (hempy style) before you put them in the larger container. This reduces shock while the roots frantically grow to the bottom of the container in order to find moisture.

So start them in mini hempys and when you transplant the roots will already be in the moist zone....you won't miss a beat.

All righty then, I've got some weird 1/2gal puts I can plug the holes in... hempy, hempy, hempy:yahoo:

Doc,
My babies filled up the 20 oz cups in 5 weeks and then went to 2 liter jugs with the damn hole in them , too....Are those big enough to last through flowering ?

2 litres?
Yep. The plants will be on the small side but they'll work! Probably get about 2 oz per plant. 2 liters isn't that big....but you can grow surprisingly large plants in hempys. You're gonna have to water daily I think.

Good job on the damn hole. :ganjamon:

OMG, I will be doing backflips for 2z's per plant. I'm compromising on lights and my space is only 5ft tall, I'm alright knowing my CFL yield will be lower than HPS...Baby steps :)

Thanks for the info, Doc...:thankyou:

About those Rose Buckets, I can't find any w/o 8 holes in the bottom. Do you have to plug those and redrill the damn hole 2" high ? Dumb question, I know..Kinda buzzed this evening :bongrip: :)

the only hole in the damn bucket should be the damn hole you drilled two inches up from the bottom.

Go to Vons or Trader Joes or some supermarket that sells flowers and ask if you can have some of the pots that they keep the flowers in.....that's what i use....and they're free.

The "rose buckets" we're talking about aren't the square ones with drain holes that you get from hydro dealers, they're the containers that are used to deliver cut flowers to supermarkets and stores that have flower counters.

They're black, round, usually around 10-liters, no holes, and you can get them for free by asking because they just throw them away.

Oh.....one other thing

With 2 liter pots you should seriously consider watering like this:

Mix up nutes in a bucket or container that makes the nute mixture about 3/4 as deep as your 2 liter pots are tall.

When it's time to water, submerse the pots in the nute mixture for a minute or two, then lift them out and let them drain in a tray or tub somewhere.

This is the best way to water a hempy. You're basically making a manually operated ebb and grow.

I've tried 2 big grocery stores and they all had drain holes or were actually part of a display stand...Kinda weird. I will try a couple more spots over the weekend. Thanks again !

Update:
Well, the Un-Lucky queen is living up to her name. All of a sudden I've got what looks like a zinc deficiency on 2 of 4 lower branches, and the leaves are all twisted up.

None of the other plants have twisted leaves, and none of them has a deficiency like this.....it's the bad No Mercy Genetics.

Now on to better things:
Someone asked what my watering wand setup looks like:

I couldn't get enough the first time I went to Trader Joe's, I went to Harris Teeter and they sold me some for $1.20. Not bad, but not free.

Next time I went to Trader Joe's, they sent me around back, to the recycling dumpsters. I'm set for life now:grinjoint: Be a diver<G>

I've got my buddy all hooked up with a hempy system - ended up using a baby pool to catch the run off - works pretty well with the plants in a circle around a bare 600 HPS. I guess we'll suck out whatever run off that doesn't evaporate with a shop vac.

The roots looked awesome coming out of the solo cups - didn't lose one bit of perlite while transplanting they were so extensive. I'll try and get some pics next time I'm over there.

i got that filter in today, man they ship fast. i like it so far, good for the money 20,000gal life. i almost bought that same wand today but didnt because i made that new drip system. what plant has that def the AN or the OC+?

It's in soil, using Osmocote.
However, it's not the nute's problem....it's the plant. None of the other osmocote plants have anything like that....no twisted leaves, no yellowing anywhere.

I dunno. It's an Un-Lucky Queen.....bad seeds from a lousy breeder. For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, search the first few pages of my journal.

Glad to hear a baby pool works, I was looking at them... great price. Shop vac's a great idea. We use one to suck toilets dry before we pull them... you probably don't want to borrow mine LOL

Great journal Doc... Its you that has inspired my own garden. I saw a NO-Pest strip hanging in a pic. Have you used it in all of your grows. And are you happy with it??
Any negative signs??
