Hey Twox
This is my 1st subbed thread. And I'm enjoying it so thanks ! I'm doing my first indoor grow and it's going ok so far. I just need to put my bud tent up but it's so hard I keep putting it off! Regards from Australia
Thanks for joining us Annabanana, (love the name

The first grow is the most exciting, your going to love it. Good to hear things are doing good on your side of the pond.. If you have questions, we have answers.. Lots of wise people around these parts..
Your setup is pretty sweet man! ive heard iffy things about the fans too but i have a 4" and havent heard too many bad things about them. You need that 6" though. I love the soothing sound of fans i cant sleep without one. That urkle looks great for three weeks she will make some nice colas.
Besides the odd noise at low speeds it's still running like a champ so I guess I shouldn't even be complaing. I run at about 60% and it sounds fine. Equipment breaking worries me.. especially fans.
I have a bad ringing in my ears when it's silent so I have a fan on while I sleep anyways. The symphony of fans in my tents is just a added bonus. The good thing is if the power happens to go out i wake up immediatley.. I'm sure I saved my ladies from bud rot a few times with my spidey sense.
Thanx for the compliments on the Candy Urkle, she started flowering the first week of 12/12 and her clones rooted in a week... She does everything fast and I like it.
NIce guude to your environment and tech.
Is that Candy Urkle in the untopped, she grows that way naturally, state? A nice looking girl for sure.
yep, untopped, a natural beauty .. I was amazed that all her side branches made it to canopy level and she only had a 4 or 5 week veg before flower. This is my first run from clone with her and she did really good so far.. She's way quicker than the Purple Urkle..
Nice setup Twox, I've been wondering what you were using for a ballast. How far down does that thing dim? I've been considering getting a 1000w and running at 400-600 max a sa way to make me feel a little safer that I'm not loading the ballast out. Right now my Apollo 400 gets a little warm and warm electronics scare me. Nothing that my hand doesn't cool down touching, but still... I've been on the lookout for good ballasts to get before this one blows up anyway. I've found out it's good to have backups.
Speaking of backups, that vivosun is a lot like the apollo I had with a built-in controller too. Wouldn't be surprised if it's just a Chinese generic with different brand names. It started squeaking real bad on me so I got a new fan asap and that one is now in a box to serve as a stop-gap fan when my SPL dies.
The ballast I have runs 600, 750, and 1000 so I have it at the lowest setting and I've never ran a 1000 before. I've wanted to but I never really got around to it.. Maybe this winter I'll give one a shot.
Mines only making a weird sound at something like 10% power. I was cleaning my filter and turned it down and noticed a really ruff sound.. The hydro farm sounds brand new still... The bearing is so smooth it takes forever to stop spinning. At least ten minutes or more...
I have a 6" can-fan that I have been running on and off for 3 years. I literally have it switch on and off at full speed based on temperature. It sounds just as quiet and reliable as it did on day 1.
A quality ballast with 5 year duarantee like his Galaxy and my Nanolux should last as long and as trouble free as almost any electronic device. I wouldn't worry about stressing it at full power.
I've heard good reviews from the can fans. Nice to hear it's pulling it's weight over the years... Reliable equipment is priceless.
I didn't really want to spend what I spent on this ballast as a new grower but I'm glade I did. I searched reviews and did my research and it seemed like they had a great reputation of being reliable .. It's a little old school compared to some of the new fancy ballasts but it works every day for 12 hours with no complaints. I alnost bought a quantum but I went this route instead.
Thanks so much for this update Twox! That was brilliant. Great to see what you're working with and how it all connects. Some of those timers n stuff look a little odd, but hey, Aussie here so we get different plugs. I'm still waiting on more stuff and even though I'll be using different equipment to you my design is based on yours. So thanks for all the inspiration!
No prob Nightmask... Seeing how it all works and the actually equipment I'm using might help you make some decisions about your own grow.. Thanx for the idea for this update and I'm sorry about our weird plugs... There just basic timers..
