Few pics.

One thing about autos, their main tap root grows REALLY fast, so depth of the pot is way more important than width. My last grow I used 3 liter pots and averaged 5 zips per. Lighting is next in importance. 24hrs for about the first month, and the finish light pattern strain dependant.

sounds good 12 have the roots hit the rez yet

Hey SS! Yes, they did, just a small roots. Hope they take off. Got the rez changed with ph at 5.8 around 500PPM in nutes. Going to keep the DWC for mothers and flower the clones in 2L hydroton hempy.

Hey DH, what question do you have?

Thanks for the tips GT. I'll be sure to keep my eyes on them. Since clones cannot be taken I'll make the best of it. Hope the breeders create strains that is auto trim. All the fan leaves falls off a week before harvest, heh.

12-12. nice info , thank you !!:thumb:

Update: Pineapple Express

Been busy putting together some DIY drip system for the hydroton only 2L hempy grow. More of that later. This update will focus on Pineapple Express and the breeding program.

From experience:
- This strain has high heat resistant up to 95F without bowing/curling of leaves
- Highly resinous
- Loves LST/Topping/FIM. I think it will work well in ScrOG have not try it yet.
- Enjoy buffet dinner once every 3 days

This is my first time breeding cannabis plants. In this breeding program I got the male Grapefruit Diesel and cross it with Pineapple Express. I've searched online and found no cross between these two, yet. With the combined beauty and power, in my humble I would like to name this "Firestorm". Why Fire Storm? Fire is from the diesel combustion and Pineapple Express endurance to high temperature without stress. The "Storm" often come fast without much warning to represent fast flowering of both strains combined under 60 days. Hope you see the seeds in the pods (Calyx). I'll harvest them the same time I harvest the buds.

Get ready, Firestorm is coming! So that was the easy part pollinating two different strains together. New challenges awaits.

Thank you for tuning in. Next update will be focus on the DIY drip system for the hydrotons only 2L hempy grow.

Firestorm - I like it!

Beautiful pics, and that's a really interesting combination. :thumb:

Yes, new challenges await - I want to do something similar soon.

Thanks X! Researching on breeding as I go. There are too much info when venturing in further. What strains are you crossing with?

They do look pretty.... I love the yellow pistils with the dark green

Thanks MB! Each day the buds are fattening up. Will shoot her again in 7 days.

congrats on the breeding success man, I can't wait to see what kind of plant unfolds from it. Your pics are really nice too, some very artistic bud porn

Thanks TCK! Even if the seeds turn out ugly I'll still love them all the same. heh

buds look great 12 . sounds like a good cross

Thanks SS! Going to continue with this lineage for a year to stabilize the desired traits. Got a lot of reading ahead to do on breeding, part 2. heh

great job I likey Remember moisture is the Nemesis to all pollenI like storing mine in a container with good dry rice in the refridge with it sealed.

Sounds good PS! I don't keep the pollens because my roommates will wonder what they are. We share the fridge. No space in the grow room for a mini fridge. I still have the father and the mom in veg.

I don't even know that yet. Right Now I was thinking of taking a decent Indica male that I like with an interesting female Sativa. Nothing more than that yet.

In the mean time, I might take any males that come up and segregate them, then just paint some pollen on a branch of a few different plants and see what comes of it. I also thought of light-stressing or using colloidial silver on an extra female and getting some male pollen from her to make some random female seeds. Just been doing a lot of thinking at this point. ;)

NICE 12/DAM!!!NICCCCEEEE!!!:yummy:;)

Twelve, everything is looking fantastic and great job on the journal! :welldone:

Sorry it took me so long to get here & post. I actually got caught up on your journal last week. While there were problems with my account, it gave me a chance to check out some journals I hadn't gotten to yet! :)

Like you, I've also found the PE's to be extremely heat resistant. On my last grow, I was running some abnormally high temps in flower for a while (up towards that 95* mark!) and would never have noticed by looking at the plants!

Also, everything I had read about the PE's indicated a much better bag appeal than actual smoke, but I've got to say, I'd put the PE up against just about anything! I've definately found it to be top-notch and the smell is incredible (as you've most certainly noticed!). Plus, IMHO, it's one of the more beautiful strains I've seen with those HUGE fan leaves!

I can't wait to get a smoke report on "Firestorm"! It sounds sure to be an awesome cross! :yummy:

I'd love to get into some breeding, but unfortunately, my space is so small that I can basically only flower a couple of plants at-a-time and I'm not sure I can bring myself to raise a male and then seed one of the females. That alone would put a huge gap in my personal stash for quite some time.

I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through you for a while!

Happy Harvests!

That's what I did, grew a male and cross it with available female. Don't have the factory space to grow 100 males/female to see the desire traits for selections. From the seeds I can grow out 8-16 and make selections from there. Feminized seeds is quite advanced! Good luck to you, would be interesting to see how you do it. I'm going to play around with regular seeds for now, and continue breeding while keeping a record so produce something unique. Very exciting stuff. I'll continue to buy quality seeds, regular is what I buy now though some banks only have them in fem.

NICE 12/DAM!!!NICCCCEEEE!!!:yummy:;)

Thanks DH!

Thanks Krip. No worries, there are lots of journal on this site so it will take time for a visit. Thanks for popping in.

How long have you been growing the PE? I'm loving this strain ability to stand up to high temp. Dense buds, lovely fragrance. I'm growing more of it now and see how it perform during the cold months. The "Firestorm" is a unique cross, humble to be the first documented Grapefruit Diesel & Pineapple Express cross. I'll cross it again using the male from "Firestorm" backcross with the female parent to try and lock in the heat resistant ability. Thanks for the heads up on bag appeal. My patients will definitely going to love it, maybe I'll send them a copy of the movie too, heh.

The smoke report from "Firestorm" will be another 3-4 months. PE is carry the FS in seed form. I did a quick count on the seeded calyx and got around 15 seeds. I hope 1 will be the one.

Ah, no problem. Breeding is fun but lots of work and percussion so there's no wild pollination. I'll update on the breeding program so you can have a glimpse into my laboratory.

Wow Twelve12, nice bud pics. Firestorm, coming to a bong near you!:thumb:

Thanks S2J! Hah, coming to a bong near you, good one!

I'm about 3 weeks into flower on my 2nd PE grow now. In fact, I just posted a smoke report after the 3 week cure on the last harvest. I have two more PE's in veg that are being kept as Bonsai Moms (I really only plan on keeping one of them), and I have another PE clone from one of the Bonsai Mom's that's about two weeks since being cut. I also have a few more PE seeds stashed in the fridge and I do plan on maintaining the strain for a while. Me likes it! :yummy:

I look forward to getting a peak into your lab! :geek:
