So I'm changing up my nutrients a little bit in the name of science. Or learning or whatever. I usually run low P high N straight through. Mainly because I like to do things differently than the rest lol, just how I work. I watched the first season of game of thrones and then it became popular so I stopped, yea I'm like that.
Anyways, I'm gonna flip it all the way to the other end of the spectrum and go high P low N and see what kind of a difference I get. Just because.
I've been running the foliage-pro in this setup with these strains long enough now to feel confident I know what they like to do. So let's see what happens.
Here's the lineup I'll be using for it. K.i.s.s.
Here's what they get on Fridays. It brings some good stuff into the root zone and helps rinse out some more salts on a weekly basis.
I'm switching from foliage-pro 9-3-6 to bloom 3-12-6. I'll still feed it at 5ml/gal to start and adjust if needed.
I'm also switching to phosphoric acid based pH down rather than citric acid. There's a few reasons for this and it's also the root of this whole experiment.
It's a stronger acid which is nice I only need 1.5ml/g now instead of 5 with the GH stuff.
It's got some P in it obviously, so it contributes to my npk unlike the citric acid which just contributes to gunk after a few days.
The biggest reason though is its more stable and I'm going to convert over to a recirculating system. So I really want the pH to hold stable for longer than I currently need so the citric acids gotta go.
Generally I argue against recirculating systems but that's because folks want to run them as their first set-up and I don't think that's a good idea. I've got a pretty good handle on my environment so I should be able to avoid any of the pitfalls associated with recircs and that end of it.
Because my environment is good and I don't end up with infections of any sort I'm not worried about spreading anything around through the water.
I want to go to recirc to cut down on operating costs even further. Nutrients and Additives aren't cheap and you're literally just dumping them down the drain with a DTW setup.
With a recirc I can run as many Irrigation cycles as the equipment can handle, which is a good thing. Right now more irrigation cycles = more cost.
With a recirc I'll also be able to more accurately measure the plants water consumption as well as their feeding activity by monitoring my reservoir water levels, pH, and e.c.
I'm still running DTW for now but Im getting ready to move my tents into a different room and I'll change the plumbing over when I do that. Just wanted to keep the nutrient lineup current and explain where the grow is headed.
Hopefully everyone is staying safe.
