Today I will update this journal with some training pictures. I also received some 27K Flouro Bulbs for my 24" lights so now all the bulbs are 27K. I have set them to bloom. The stalks are looking good and the plant needs to stay small for my super light stress training. I will be using the plastic ties you get holding together power cords. I have lots of them and with a small plant they have enough tensile strength to manipulate a small plant.
You need to prepare them though don't use them all twisted up. Straighten them smooth first like this:
Then put a small hook on the end.
Make sure the hook is oriented so that the flat part of the tie will rest on the plant
Like this:
Take the hooked end and place it on the limb you want to train: I also at this time position the tie to find out where I want to hook it up to on the pot and gauge the distance I will be moving the limb. My plan is to move it a little each day so this method works as its easy to adjust the ties by just bending them a little closer.
Then bring the other end to the tie down and adjust the length and twist it around to post just enough to hold, I twisted a few and they are hard to adjust, so just enough to hold.
Then its just a matter of looking at the plant and seeing where you want to move the branchlets to maximize the exposure of bud sites as they develop. I am doing this during bloom but it will be only the first two weeks.
My hope is to form a T at the edge of the plant. You can see the black tie holding one branch and I will be putting another on its opposite number and start to pull it the other way.
The Center stalk is being bent over super crop style but with minimal stress.
More pictures of training:
In this picture you can see how I attach it to the pot. This is one of the main branches and over the last few days I slowly moved it down to where it is. You can see the curve in the tie where I have been constantly adjusting the branch down.
Before this round of training:
After the Training. You can see I pancaked it a little with the training. Tomorrow morning I will tighten them up some more.
This is fun.
