TripleG's Apartment Based Breeding Grounds

So tell me this. Do you note any differences in aroma, flavor, and the high between the Sensi NL and the Sensi NL X Nirvana NL??

Having grown one of each previously, I personally preferred the Sensi x Nirvana. The Sensi had a bit of a fruitier odor whereas I get more spice from the cross.

The other phenotype of Sensi x Nirvana that is growing, I have no idea about, but she is putting on crystal and weight every day and is super sickly sweet smelling, not necessarily fruity though.

I have to say that the Sensi NLs have been very consistent with their bud structure, growth, and odor despite the early fading of the tall one with long internodes.

I should also say that the neighbor prefers the Sensi, claims it is the best that I have ever grown.. I beg to differ, but I didn't share much of the vomit phenotype of Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps.

Daily inspections are required at this point. I pulled 4 confirmed males from the Devil's Pitchfork x Sensi NL x Nirvana NL IBL. Probably have one more but cannot confirm yet.

This will most likely leave me with 4 girls. Trying to decide if I want to do 1 or 2 per container or 2 singles and a double. Also brings to mind what should be next in line. Which leaves me in the dreaded zone of indecision.

A word about the tiny fabric pots of coco. They work and I have determined them to be invaluable when growing regular seeds especially under the 11/13 from seed light schedule where stress must be kept minimal...

I will now discuss the fate of the Devil's Pitchfork F1 seeds. 5 did not crack, 1 cracked with taproot but died trying to shed it's shell. I find these seeds to be extremely hard. When I soak some more I will be doubling the time they spend in my Scarifier contraption.

That's enough rambling for now. There's more, but I will spare everyone for the time being and report back after I spend some time with the seed collection thinking about the next pollen donor's identity.

So, somehow between last night and this afternoon 3 Devil's Pitchfork F1s poked through the Coco. A 4th one has cracked it's shell and if it can shake the shell, it could be above ground by tomorrow. The shells are incredibly solid.

So, the Sensi NL that had retained it's green color and vigor has gone droopy on me. I have changed nothing about the grow. Thank goodness they are nearing the end of their lives. The Sensi x Nirvana crosses however continue to thrive despite their age.

I did pluck a seed from a Sensi NL today. Nicely marbled, light brown, no green, and solid. So that cross is Harlequin x Sensi Northern Lights F1, exciting stuff. Not sure anyone has ever made this particular cross, remains to be fact checked though.

Going to start processing CBD strains into Rick Simpson Oil, beginning with Harlequin. Save us money on CBD capsules at least

A bit of Google-Fu has revealed that Harlequin x Northern Lights has not been done, commercially at least. This is the Sensi Northern lights. I also have the Sensi x Nivana crosses that may be seeded as well. I guess I should make some crosses with Nirvana NL IBL as well, next time I have enough open slots.

I guess just the 3 Devil's Pitchfork F1s made it. The original 6 seeds were all picture perfect, never had seeds with such hard shells.

I will snap some pics of the QP auto x Stardawg autos later. They are ultra vigorous and just beautiful little plants, creating zero problems.

The Chemdawg x Sour Angel isn't faring as well. I don't know... I haven't really ever had a sick plant during veg before. Plenty of room in her pot for roots. She is tiny compared to the autos. Bummed that she was the least damaged seed of the three. I'm going to mess with nutrients and see if I can't square her away. She is supposed to end up being a long veg time monster that takes up half my tent and most of my closet.

Feeling pumped for next week's harvest though. It will be wonderful having some Northern Lights to puff on.

Still no word on the next bean cracking, very indecisive. I only want to plant 1 cultivar per seed cracking. Room in the closet will be getting cramped if I veg anymore. Still working it out.

Hey guess what!!? I found a little seed bag today I had forgotten about. It's from back when I was making the auto flower seeds. I forgot I had pollinated a bud on a Dark Devil Auto with pollen from the Quarter Pounder plant I reversed for her pollen. There might be a dozen there. That might be the next auto I run after the Sour Diesel Haze I have running currently. If I like the Sour Diesel Haze it's one I'm thinking of reversing, but I wanted to see how the strain grew and the quality of the buds before investing my time into making seeds.

Must of been a good feeling finding those beans! :ganjamon: sounds like a nice cross

Dark Devil mixes pretty well with everything. I find the QP Stardawgs to be very sturdy little plants.

I began plucking seeds today, this is what I found..
I went ahead and chopped her. Because I pollinated early, there will be more seeds found buried in the dry buds. She was never meant to be a big yielder, but the buds do have an appealingly sweet dankness, not like DDA or the Punto Rojo cross father in any way whatsoever.

Checked ph today for the first time in awhile. I've been right on the money. I'm going to add Maxibloom to all future feedings after a good rinse due to it's higher levels of Calcium/magnesium. Probably go to 1/2 tsp Mega-Crop to 1/2tsp Maxibloom to start. They just look hungry and Mega-Crop isn't doing the job.

Good news bad news kinda day.

Snapped a few photos. Not the sharpest images today. My son was pulling my hair the entire time. Things are definitely happening. I somehow didn't get a pic of Harlequin, her seeds are not ripe, 1-2 weeks is my best guess.

Here we go...

I might be overreacting to the deficiencies or whatever they are. The rougher ones are the ones nearing the end of their lives. Chemdawg x Sour Angel seems to be happier today as well... idfk

I looked at my notes for both the Chemdawg and also the Sour Angel from when I ran them. Their sweet spot was 6.5 grams of Mega Crop to 1 gallon of water. The Chemdawg required a bit of Cal/Mag at the rate of 5ml/gallon once a week. I don't think the PH I ran is what you would run. The last four weeks of flowering I used some leftover Foxfarm flowering supplements.

But I guess since what you're growing isn't Chemdawg and isn't Sour Angel who the heck knows what the cross will want/need?

What I loved best about the pics above is the diversity of the age of the plants. You've made a conscious effort to keep a steady flow going as opposed to your previous roller coaster method. Your efforts will really pay off and prove to be a big money saver for you. Great job!

Thanks beez. I have have certainly been pushing the limits of my available space as best I can. I figure if I run autos, run 1 or 2 photoperiods in veg, and dont shy away from 11/13 from seed, I should be able to keep some kind of flow going. I will have gone nearly 10 weeks since a harvest when I hack these ladies down.

Next batch of seeds will be cracked next week I imagine. Still no word on those. I expected some seeds from a private breeder to arrive that just haven't yet. But, life happens and I ain't got nothing to 81+(# about cuz it's not like paid money for them. Simply causes me to shift my plans a bit.

It's probably time to run some of my more heat tolerant sativas, it's still a bit mild but fire season is on its way. Thinking Zamaldelica x Panama F1s and Punto Rojo x Durban Bubble F1s make the most sense for 11/13 from seed. If I veg maybe my single 24k bean and a Sensi NL x GG#4 since they are feminized.

Fun fact, I apparently never tossed out my Harlequin Pollen. I suppose I should see if it is still any good.

You should consider the 24k I'm keeping mine as long as possible. Beware of the stretch tho. Here's mine

yeah i love me some sativa action in summer. Going green crack some OGs and stuff for my next summer. Good luck cuz

Looks effing delicious. Wife has been eyeing that bean since it's arrival.

I've developed special plans for the 9# Hammer seed that can work whether it is Male or female. Not sure about the Nicole Kush x Moroccan. I do wonder if there might be a Moroccan pheno hidden in there to feed my love of hash.

I bought some kief from the store yesterday. Better than any hash I can make. It is more potent than the clean Dabs of PHO I've been doing today, and I consider this particular PHO to be some of the best hydrocarbon extract to be had here in the inland empire.

I had 2 pheno's of the hammers. #1 was tall and had lots of room between the nodes, too much. #2 was dense AF with tighter node spacing. I just jarred them up and have only sampled #1. #1 was all body buzz with not much yet for flavor. Again no cure time, but when I open the jar it reeks of rotten fruit. #2 has a whole different smell kinda like earthy pine. #2's nugs are rock hard. I guess what I'm getting at is it seems to be a bit all over the place as far as phenotypes. The 24k I'm guessing is a lot more stable

So, about the perpetuity of my harvests and how well I am doing at keeping up... got the chance to go to a Die Antwoord concert in September. Tickets paid for, accommodations covered, even childcare!

The problems are threefold. One is that I do not have anyone to reliably take care of my plants for 5 days, two is that the person taking care of my dog does not and cannot know of my hobby, three is that even if I did set up a stealthy automatic watering system I live in an upstairs apartment and it would be irresponsible to leave something like that alone for 5 days.

So, by the end of the first week of September I will have to take everything down. A bummer, but I can start right back up again when we get home. I will be doing micro plants in coco from that point up until our annual winter inspection after which I will be back to growing in my standard size coffee can hempys.

Going to put all of the photoperiod plants in the tent after the Northern Lights harvest. I wanted that Chemdawg x Sour Angel to get bigger first but shit happens I guess plus she is already almost a foot tall. I should have a nice stash put up after everything is finished, so there is that.

The musicians are getting older and so are we. I won't be wanting to do too many more South African Rap/Techno/Rave shows in my life. Last concert I attended was the Insane Clown Posse's Happy Daze tour in 2010 Milwaukee when I got to see them, Kottonmouth Kings, and Coolio lol.

If you have small plants at vacation time, you could plant them in soil with decent sized pots. Transplant just before you leave and water the shit out of them. They would be just fine for 5 days. Food for thought brother. Gotta get out and have some fun with the wife. It's good for the soul :)

Ever try a (I think it's called) swick? You fill a tote with a few inches of perlite (3-4") and then add about 3" of water. You set your plant down and wiggle the pot a little to get it to sink into the perlite some. The water in the tote will keep your reservoir filled for days thus keeping your plant alive. I've not done it, but ask @MrGreene about how he does it. He goes away on business for a whole week at a time and manages to keep his girls alive with this method/system.

I harvested my Chem 91 X Cherry Aliendog the other day and once the plant was out of the tent I really got to see my Black Cherry Punch plant fully and realized she had buds and branches flopped over everywhere. As I was taking her out this morning to try to prop up some of the heavy branches she tried to tip the whole pot over. She is flip + 45 days today. Her aroma is to die for with a sweet cherry tart. Here are a couple quick photos.

I researched these methods and I have actually considered switching to a swick system just to be fully lazy. Lol.

Here's the deal. The dog sitter can't know that I grow weed. The grow room itself gets over 100°F without me propping the door open during daytime. It must be done or everything stunts, herms, or generally ends up tasting like blek.

Since I had half a moment to snap some photos...

These are all flip +55 today.

Harlequin and the Sensi x Nirvana frost monster just started straight water today. The other 3 ladies will get the axe this week sometime.

These are beauties, flip +40

These three crazy polecats are flip +12

These are all ladies 11/13 from seed, not sure the age. It will take some looking. Kinda want to leave them in their little container as long as possible
This concludes the tour of the flowering tent...
