Trala’s Tent

Thanks, T .. for some reason, I had it stuck in my head that it was drying to slow!
I gotta pay closer attention...

Have you seen how @Grand Daddy Black does his? He dries his in jars, in the fridge- seems like that might help to slow things down. He replaces the seal part of the lid with a coffee filter, to let air in and out.
That's about all I know about his method, but I'm sure he'd answer any questions you might have
No too quick. Same as my line dry.

Hmmm interesting. I’ll send him a PM rather than bother him in his thread.

Thanks C Bomb. Oh and it looks so fresh and lovely.

I’ll do a Mimmy update after work tomorrow. She is looking schmicky doo mate. And my little monsters have woken ♥️♥️♥️

Omg I have a story for you!

Short version: I saved two cane beetles

Long version: Most of you know I had a difficult childhood, and this story sounds so fucking sad. Even to me and I lived it. So as a little kid I had these two dead cane beetles (cue sad music lolllll). And I loved them. I named them Barbie and Ken. And I used to play with them like they were barbie dolls. I made them a bed out of an empty matchbox and I made them a pillow out of toilet paper and I used to play house with them. To me they were always so happy. I even used to make them dance - this actually caused their demise, coz one day I was making them waltz and their legs got kind of tangled, and their fucking legs all fell off, well not all of them. I still remember the horror holding two semi legless beetle torso’s as the realisation that I’d just killed my two dead beetles set in. I was so sad. I had a funeral in my backyard, I was the only attendee. Giggly as fuck btw. No wonder I’m an Oprah episode! So I have always had this really sentimental feeling when it comes to cane/Christmas beetles… particularly the dead ones.

Anyhoo fast forward to two days ago and I found two cane beetles in the skimmer box of my pool, I searched for signs of life but there were none. I felt quite bummed (don’t worry, I haven’t regressed and found some dunny paper and an empty matchbox) and I just laid them both on their backs beside each other at the side of my skimmer box. So yesterday they remained there on their backs, I just looked at their dead carcasses and thought about Barbie and Ken Beetle, like I always do when I see cane beetles. Tbh I didn’t even think to consider moving them, I just left them there. I don’t know why. Then just before, I’m on my hands and knees at the skimmer box, and I look over at them both and the larger ones legs are proper moving. And I mean proper. Like a turtle on its back waving its 6 legs. On closer inspection the smaller one was alive too, but barely. Like very slight movement. I can not believe they came back to life. Like I know logically they were always alive but I swear on my sons life, they had zero signs of life for well over 48 hours. Absolutely zero.

After their photoshoot, I put them both in my garden. So there’s another feather in my cap:-

Trala Mother of Green Dragons, rescuer of bees, saviour of butterflies, liberator of lizards, rebirther of beetles.

It has made me feel so happy even though I know a cane toad will prolly fuck em up tonight and make them dinner because now I know Barbie and Ken Beetle’s legs grew back and they lived happily ever after.

The end.

Motherfucking humidity thingys! Damn you to HELLLLLLLLL!

Good morning :)

So plan B

Keep the same humidity thingys in the bags. I can still monitor the ups and downs to a point. Granted it won’t be accurate but I just need to know when it’s southward bound so I don’t overdry. I’m starting to understand going by feel.

It is looking so pretty. The colours are still quite vibrant. And my line dried excess is BANGING! I had no idea how much a light and two fans and flowering plants negatively effected/affected (it’s one or the other) drying. So massive I will never dry while having plants in my flower room again.

I know I’ve said this before, I used to always resent ole mates prices. But the amount of work that goes in to get that ounce, it’s worth every penny. I have literally just spent half hour working on my grow ie measure humidity, spray on prophylactic mite treatment, put plants outside, water board them etc. it’s like working before I go to work.

I’ll get a Mimmy update this arvo. I know I shouldn’t talk her up as she’s not even 6 weeks old, but I think she is shaping up to be my best plant yet. And my little monsters are freak growing hard. Tgey make me big smile so bad. Particularly Bubbles aka Peyote C.

I found this interesting.

This is a bud comparison. I tried to find similar a shape and size so it would be a fair comparison.

Fresher brighter (I think it is) looking bud was line dried in darkness with controlled 65%RH in an empty flower room and the other was line dried with my flowering plants which meant flower light and a variation to the RH and temps. I’m sure it’s not just my imagination. I feel one looks quite bleurgh and the other looks bling.

Both are Shiskaberry. One is the Barney’s seedstar, Halle, and the other is the clonestar, Berry.

Beautiful Garden. Your shots are always so neat and well put together. :yummy:
Thank you, stinker. That’s really nice of you to say.

You made me big smile :)

The first pic I didnt really see much difference - but I sure did in the second pic and agree one looks “fresher” … even the trichomes are more visible and defined!

Ok todays dilemma

I have zero idea what I’m doing fridge wise. I’ve started writing down my room humidity.

The practice Kimee Tangerine is already in jars she went in day 7, so not slow. It is 61% in the jar. I have just jarred the remaining Tangie and I’ll recheck humidity through the day. I am finding once it hits 35% humidity I need to get it in a jar stat.

So obviously it’s not the slow dry I’m aiming for. My line drying is always ready for the jar in 3-4 days. Even in 65% humidity. Gear change, that excess Road Runner and Berry Bee I dried in my flower room without plants and in the dark is smelling mint. And the difference in appearance to the stuff I dried while my plants were flowering is cray cray. It looks so much better. I’ll get a comparison pic today.

I have been writing down my humidity since 02/11 because I think I will remember the numbers, but of course I don’t. And as you can see it’s all over the shop. I’m rotating the bud through the fridge from the top cheese sort of section, to the shelves, to the fruit and veg crisper. I am shaking twice a day and recording. The temp of the room I do it in is 65%. Not sure if that even matters lollll

Should I pull it out and air dry from this point or just trust the process? My climate doesn’t seem to follow the same rules as the majority of growers in here.

All advice welcome.

I agree with prices. I’d rather give it away than put a price on it. It is work that I love. I just like to sit and look at them!

Totally agree - don't mind giving away to deserving friends, but the pride I take in growing is worth far more than money

Hey Trala - good job on the revegging, something I can never do
Glad you are getting the feeling on when the cure is going right :hookah:

I think it does too. And the fridge cure is looking even more beautiful:)

Omg do a fridge cure they said, it’s easy they said! Bollocks to that! It takes so much work to rotate, record and shake it! Look I’m being a tad Tramatic. It’s no day in a coal mine or anything. But it’s certainly not the bag and forget for 3 weeks that my ride or die @013 had me believe it was.

No way I’m getting 3 weeks in the fridge tho. I’d say 10-14 days tops.

Whoa! Way too complex for me. … but I’ll watch :passitleft:
Omgggggg

It soooooo is!

I’m starting to go by feel. Like I don’t fully Harvey Weinstein them or anything. I just lightly place an open hand in the bag. It will take time to master that’s fo sho. I totes see why the majority line dry.

Hello you :)

Thank you so much. Certainly is a long game revegging when monstercropping. I think it was over 30 days before I saw new growth. And there were plenty of omg they dead moments

It gives me such a sense of satisfaction to revive them. It is by far my favourite way to grow. And I love how they turn into multi limbed machines!

It’s going ok. It’s an annoying process. So many variables I think it’s called. Take humiditythingygate. That alone has had me had to find a Plan B. I still don’t know if I’m doing it right tbh. But the bud looks beautiful.

Yeah, you can cure any way you like, but you still have to judge it right by feel at some point
You know how my fridge cure went - sod that
Glad you got results however you managed it :)

It’s not in jars yet ;)

Hey one thing I do know. There is zero way you could do it in a fridge you use to live. Look maybe not zero. But it would definitely make the process far more difficult with the added door constantly opening variable.

My fridge only opens twice per day and I even try to do it 12 hours apart.

I’m so sorry for leading you astray Miss T, perhaps I’ve developed infomercial approach to low & slow…. set it and forget it baby. I do keep close eye on my chilled nugs but not too OCD about it nor a fridge hound.

after bud washing plus low & slow - it will defs be the best honking bud he has ever tried
