THsea Grows Indoors Soil

Oh, YOU again, :high-five: Just kidding. I'd say you need to roll with auto-flowers. They are only a problem is you want something more than a beautiful bonsai! ;)

If you stick to shorter strains (that don't stretch) or get plants that respond well to topping.. And keep the lights closer to the plants.. These are better ways to control your space, IMO. If you don't want vertical growth, there is always topping. You will probably love the KC plants, if any of the cuttings take... These suckers are short! The ones I saw were 12/12 from seed outdoor in... I'd say 3 gallon pots or so. Things prolly aren't over 3 feet tall. Most "hawaiian" plants that I've heard of are usually sativa(ish) and are usually quite a bit bigger. OMM's journal's are great learning spots, its kind of like a community forum.

Auto's are neat. I've noticed they have some really interesting characteristics. One is that they tend to have a really large trichomes. Makes them look real pretty! The Critical+ and Il Diavolo seem to have smaller glands, who knows. They are all covered, and thats what matters! Definitely will be revisiting these types of plants... I'd really love to get some landrace Ruderalis and make my own auto plants... Really like the idea of making my own seeds...

Hope you enjoyed the football. I like the idea for the tent, so one tray with the ~3 gallon x five/six... and the other tray 7 red bottoms... I wonder how many of the yellow bottoms would fit. You thinking cuttings in the yellow bottoms? Or just 12/12 from seed strains you aren't really excited for?

This is why my grow is all.. 4 liter airpots... OMM likes to play in dirt too much, I'm sick of it when I get home! Just kidding... Nah, but I do think that the airpots are supposed to let us use less. It will be a nice comparison too now that we're both using OC+ again. The 4liters will prolly stunt my yield a bit... Definitely prepared to make the jump to either 2 or 3 gallons..

We can talk about things. It's very seductive to try a butch of small ones in one tray and 6 medium in the other tray. The heat has been bad yesterday and today. I hope that it is not a problem that will continue..

Yellow bottoms.......I may try some of the seeds I don't care about in those!:high-five:

KC is the shortening for a strain I'm being gifted to work with. It's short for Kona Coffee.

and I say plants because I'll have cuttings from four different plants in the strain... All seems pretty homogeneous though.

It's Hawaiian only strain. :surf:
 
I took the cuttings of KC1-4 again today... Only 1 and 3 will live of the originals... #3 is gonna goto the OMM :)

All the new cuttings are in soil... Much longer cuttings... Rooting powder, the works! :)

Hey, thanks sisco!! :) Yea, auto's are neat buggers.. But not gonna revisit them for a while. Maybe next year.

The kauai high actually did pop up... So... With the idea of having 9... 5 are the hawaiian babies... yea, that will work out fine :)

If your wanting Kona Coffee... Good luck! Real hawaiian stuff usually doesn't leave the islands... And on the island I'm on (Oahu) its even more difficult!! Honestly, I'm still shocked at my luck... Being allowed cuttings and finding a bag seed in some stuff from Kauai... :circle-of-love: Good start to a year!

Lets get back to you though! You want to look for plants that are shorter, and do not stretch as much.. Especially if you are new and uncomfortable with the idea of other height control methods (LST, super-cropping, topping kinda)... Indica's are usually in that alley, but be careful! Some get tall, for example Church and Violator Kush.. Both indica, both big... Auto flowers are even nicer for the beginning grower, its impossible to mess up its light schedule! Always up to talk about smoke, so you can PM if you like.:Namaste:

So... Now the other four seeds are germinating. Our final total in the tent will be 10. Five cuttings, and Five from seed.. This isn't counting the two extra cuttings that will be in my closet and be treated colloidal silver..

I never mentioned the fifth cutting, its off of OMM's Matanuska Tundra. Quickest flowering plant I've ever seen him grow! So.. I wanted it :) It's slow in the beginning.. But after a few weeks it takes off!
Everything in the tent will donate a side branch or two for pollination. I do not intend to buy seeds for a long time!

I've probably posted the list a few times.. But I think its changed at least once since.. If all the seeds pop, our list will be..

Kauai High
Dr. Grinspoon
Purple Haze
Pineapple Express
The Church

Only one seed in each of the bags I have OMM... But we can root you a cutting. The Church did pop.. Doesn't look like they creeped out of the shells so they aren't going in soil til' prolly this evening.

The 'tundra cutting isn't looking so hot... I'm a bit worried. Doesn't look dead yet though. Starting to see roots on the original KC#1 and 3... #3 will be coming your way too OMM.

Kauai High is still going pretty nice.. Against better judgment we have a new baby onboard.. It's a Vintage, from CH9.. She's probably going to just be on my windowsill.

We can get you another Tundra cutting..no problem there. A KC will be welcome here!

Hey Sisco! Thank you! I'll be posting pictures as soon as I know that all four of the seedlings will make it above soil or not.. Dr. G and Church popped their heads up. Kauai High is big for a seedling! More like how Auto's tend to look during seedling phase... Unless that was just a coincidence, but my auto's had big "baby" leaves.

Kind of thinking I should have gotten a little aero cloner.. Idk, soil cuttings and the gel crap.. Just takes too long! I've seen cuttings root with those nifty products in like 2 weeks I think... Hm.. Trying it old school, but feeling impatient. The cuttings look good, just moving slow. Once I have seeds it wont matter. Cuttings are for breeding if you ask me! I like seeds. :Namaste:

If everything goes wrong.. The main objective is to at least have good seeds this grow. Buds would be nice, but I want to preserve the genetics I've the fortune to come across. Who knows, maybe we will become more legal and I can open a seed bank! :circle-of-love:

If you will grow bare-root hydro or aero, by your own means make an aero cloner to put roots on a cutting. If you will keep it in soil or coir for service, root it in the same stuff that it will live in, with a little rooting hormone stuff added or applied at first. Cuttings are for production. Seeds are for genetic introduction. I feel seeds are a necessary evil. I just ordered ten, and don't look forward to doing it again.

I prefer a harem to a seedbank deposit. Ready-to-go girls are GRrrreaaaT
 
Hey ThSea, make sure the soil borne clones have a heat mat to keep the roots warm and a dome to keep them humid. You should see new growth in about 2 weeks. I like to use seed starting medium, usually available this time of year (in northern hemisphere). It's really light and sterile, or try a brick of coco. I keep the cuts in a weak seaweed solution while I'm preparing them and water them in with it when done, no magic dust or gel needed. Each day make sure the inside of the dome has some humidity on it and water the bottom of the tray when needed. Cloning is easy, just requires a positive attitude.
