Re: This Years Outdoor 2013 Garden Diary- By JTG And Wife!

hope alls good J and Y.

i been trying to get a purple strain for ages now, bought many purple strains like purple widow which is suppose to be a true purple yet it dont turn purple, i had to stick plants out in the middle of winter when it was snowing just to get some purple, which i did and it tasted like crap so went in the trim box, i had it near a open window so it was getting really cold temps but still no purps,

so im starting to wonder if its the nutrients we give them, if you search for subcool and super soil you will see he produces some amazing purple strains using super soil, he uses no nutriets for the whole grow and just adds water, so im wondering if the nutrients we are giving them is whats stopping us getting the purple traits come out as ive grown many purple strains now and none turn purple under normal conditions even when they say they should do,

i also noticed outdoor plants and bushes that had leaves turning purple in the middle of summer, so im thinking their could be something in the nutrients thats not allowing the plant to do what it needs to do, i just wish i knew a scientist who could help with my concerns as im thinking it could be to much N or maybe a micro nutrient is stopping it turning purple, outdoor grows seem to turn purple but the plant is growing in the ground and is getting nutrients out the ground, so are we stopping the purple coming out by giving them to much nutrients or micro nutrients, i know N is what makes the leaves grow and keeps them dark green, when you stop giving N they go light green, so could another part of the nutrients affect the purple gene.

Just cruising thru JTG. Hope all is growing great with you and yours. Guess I'm atad early to see the update which means I'll have to come back soon. I've been offline atad due to PC problems. OG nice little guerrilla patch. Don't take this wrong yawl are lucky with the weather. Man what I'd give to be able to throw a descent sativa out there again and have half a chance of getting her in without having to deal with the rains. I'm working with a new hybrid that has a descent sativa percent with a short flower time of about 50 days. Looks like a winner, time will tell. Ok well best and I'm looking forward to see some monsters Keepem Green

your not wrong, but when the seed banks list them as purple you at least expect one to turn out purple, the purple widow is shown as been dark purple but ive grew a pack of 10 and not one had any purple in it,

Im telling ya DP, this purple kush is a real purp strain. Buds are going purple and its like 98 degrees, so it aint from temps :).

Sorry I haven't been about as much as I would like to be in fact I only posting this cause the Mrs is having a shower, I havent gone to far back but it sounds like you are having trouble with your mother in law. Man these creatures can be so much trouble but cause they are who they are we have to try an find some common ground to speak on ? On top of this finding the common ground is hard but I think what has been hardest for me is watching my Mrs turning out just like her mum!!!! Which is like having a live in mother in law,,,in fact this is one of the reasons why im not online as much as I would like to be:grinjoint:
Have a great two toke tuesday love to all

Re: This Years Outdoor 2013 Garden Diary- By JTG And Wife!

@jimmy, ill order some purple kush when i get paid next week, do you know the breeder or know which breeders have the purple pheno,

im also begining to think that nutrients play a big part, ive grown lots of purple strains and the breeders picks show purple plants and some with nearly black buds and leaves, for example the purple widow looks like its been painted purple, yet i grew 10 seeds and the only time i got one to turn purple is when it went out in the snow, even by an open window it did not turn purple, but the cold shock made the buds nasty and couldnt be smoked,

the reason im thinking nutrients play apart is down to the super soil subcool grows in, most of the strains he grow turn purple of have hints of purple, so this to me suggests that the plants have used up something in the soil that is now allowing them to turn purple, im wondering if a micro nute or either NPK play a part in keeping it green, maybe the nutrients we use are not allowing the plants to show their true colours, but super soil brings out the colour every time even on none purple strains, i just wish i paid more attention at school then i might be able to work out whats going on in the soil and what nutrient or micro nutrient is stopping the purple coming out, i wonder if stopping the nutes for the last 3 weeks would bring out the purple,

their must be more to it as clearly plants turn purple in normal temps like yours, so ill try some seeds if you know the breeder and if i dont get purple buds then i know their is something more going on and i need to look into it more to find out whats keeping the chlorphyl alive, i think the plant must lack something at the end of flower but the nutrients i use just wont show any colour at all and ive grown many purple strains,
they just dont turn purple for me even if given cold temps, i had to put a plant out in below 0c to get it to turn purple,
