I hope this finds all of My FINE FRIENDS WELL!!! I thank You All For The Genuine Concern!!! FC, no Preaching Ever Kept Me From Going To Church!!! And I know how to Take Good Advice when Given(BY ALL OF YOU), Yarrow, as some of You Might Have Heard, Is In The ICU. Her Medical Problems Became To Much To handle at Home(AS I KNEW THEY WOULD), She has been Hospitalized since Tuesday Evening. Her Many Problems(THIS WILL BE THE SHORT LIST, OR WHATS BOTHERING/KILLING HER, THE MOST AT PRESENT) Yarrow has been slowly starving to Death since 2004, She Had a Duodinal Switch Operation, that went Horribly Wrong, they inadvertently removed to much of Her Small Intestine, which keeps Her From Being able to absorb any of the Nutrients From the Foods She was able to Eat. This Doctor, dropped her Like a Bad Habit, when the Complications Started to Arise, He was a Private Doctor, not VA. Well the Doctors that are on her case Now, Just cannot seem to get Things Fixed. Three Years Ago She almost Died From This, She is 36yrs Old, 5ft8, 33 at that time, and down to 86 Pounds at one Point, It took three Months to get Her healthy Enough to get Back Home!!! She had a Port, Known as Hickman, Placed in Her Neck, down to a Vein near Her Heart, that began feeding Her a Nutritional Supplement, Known as TPN(TOTAL PERENNIAL NUTRITION).
She had this Line In for 3 Years, but it got infected with STAPH, and they had to Remove it in April. Instead of applying another One, they said well we know it's early to have taken it Out, but why do we not see, if You can tolerate Regular Foods, High In Protein, and Vitamins and Minerals, We Thought, well it has been in for 3 Years, but so far She had only had 2 Blood Work Tests that Showed Her Blood Work at Low Normal, 1 months worth of Tests. We all Knew She Needed To Have another Hickman Inserted, I believe the Doctors Did Too, but they wanted to Roll The Dice, and See If She Could Make it on Her Own, why, I still do not Understand!!! Anyways, it came out in April this Year, and for about 3 Weeks, it seemed like She was Possibly Gonna Be Able To make It, on Her Own. Then in May Her Numbers began Too Slip Again. Then the new mystery illness appeared, and it is still a Mystery, despite Barium Swallow For Imaging Her GI Tract, X-Rays, Cat Scans, ETC. It shows that She is all Messed Up Within Her Abdomen.
She can only get in, at the Present Time by Mouth, 4 OZ of Water at a Time(DAY), this puts her in Excruciating Pain(THE WATER),and were talking just Good Old Mountain Spring Water, Food is out of the Question, at this Point, as it causes so much Pain, it is No Longer Really Viable To Try, unless they find out what is wrong inside her Abdomen and FIX IT. All they know at Present is that it is extremely Inflamed, abnormally So!!! And if You Listen to it with a stethoscope or Your held Close, it sounds Like The Combination of a NASCAR Race, a Second Heart, Wind Whistling Through a Tunnel, and a small Feral Animal, all Growling at Once!!! It Is Horrible, to say the Least!!!
So on last Tuesday, we Forced her To Go into the Hospital(SHE IS NOTORIOUSLY HARD HEADED), and they took One Look at Her, and admitted her Right Away, THANK GOD!!! About 6-8 weeks ago, She weighed 169-70 Pounds, She Know Weighs 135 Pounds, and the Doctors estimate that She Only Weighs This Much, because of the amount of Swelling that is Trapped in Her Body, they Believe She Has at least 25 Pounds of Just Water Weight on Her(AT THE LEAST), maybe More!!! So that makes a 5ft8 woman, only about 100 Pounds of REAL WEIGHT!!! Way too Skinny for Her, even if She was only 5ft4, IMHO.
The Water on Her body, is Doing what in medical Terminology is Known as Third Spacing, causing SEVERE EDEMA(SWELLING). Her legs look like they belong on an Elephant, not Her, and they have Turned Black, from Her Ankles to Just Below Her Knees!!! Needless to say, She can NO LONGER USE HER LEGS at all, ATM. And She Had to use a Walker, before all this anyways!!! If She is able To Stand IT, and I have No Wheel Chair For Her, I try to carry Her From One Spot To The next, but this cannot always be Done, because of the Pain She Is Now Experiencing in her Abdomen!!! They have put Her on a Low Residue Diet Only, By Mouth. Which basically means NO FOOD, Except for Ensure Protein Shakes(YUUUUCK), they make her Gag, and it actually exhausts her so Badly, Trying to Please the Doctors by Drinking It, and inevitably, She just Pukes it back up anyways. The only things ATM, She can Keep Down Are Chicken Broth,Herbal Teas, Apple Juice(SOMETIMES), and Plain White Rice. But because of Her Low Residue Diet, She is not allowed the Rice!!!
She was Critically Dehydrated when We Brought Her in, and they have been giving Her Bag after Bag of Saline Solution, to try and get Her Re-hydrated, back to, and above Normal Readings of Water. They have inserted a PIC LINE in Her Left Arm, in some other Vein, and have put Her back on TPN, but with NO LIPIDS in it, because they fear it could cause Her Stomach Upset to Spiral out of Control, that whole, NO RESIDUE DIET thing again!!! The Barium, because it is like Spackle Paste when it Dries, and Coats the ENTIRE Lining of Her Stomach, Intestine, ETC. Actually had Her feeling so Good Yesterday, She could Talk without Hurting, and She was Falsely Leading herself down the Trail, that Maybe Her Condition Had Improved, until Her Doctor Came In Yesterday, and asked her how She's Enjoying Having To Take GOLYTLY??? We kinda looked at each other and said back to him in Unison, WTH are You Talking About??? And he said, You Know The Mild Laxative, I prescribed For Her to start right after Her Barium Swallow, and we were Like, She Has Taken Nothing Called GOLYTLY?!?! And the Doctor just about lost His Fuse, Not With Us, but the People that are in Charge of Reading and Carrying Out His Orders(THE NURSES). He actually did Blow up on Her Nurse, and Her Nurse said it was not on their list of Things To Be Giving Her??? This really made Him Angry, and he went to their FAX Machine, and sure enough there were His Orders, Right Next To The Fax Machine, the Nurses Had Just not SEEN IT??? So they started Her on it right away, because if Barium Gets Dried Out, or solidifies, in Her Stomach and Intestine, it is extremely Hard To Remove, it impacts the Bowels Like Concrete he said!!!!
So they got Her Started on the GOLYTLY, and for an extra Double Whammy, They Put Two Suppositories in Her as well!!! It still almost took 24 Hours For her To Go, but she finally Did, and the Doctor said that the way her Bowels are ATM, We were Lucky that She Did Not Have to Wait 3-4 Days for it to Happen!!! Luckily, GOING, has not been one of Her Problems!!! So He was well Pleased, it all came OUT!!! In the amount of Time, It Only Took. They are trying to keep Her Heavily Sedated, but She is so used to Opiate Based Pain Meds, that Basically, what they were giving Her, is a Drop in the Bucket, to what She Needs, She has been on these For over a Decade, For Failed Back Surgeries(7 OF THEM), but even with Doctors orders, The Nurses are afraid to give them to her, at least the first Couple of days after being admitted. They try to give her Like Half, and even less than half of what She needs, to Quell the Pain, and She and I, have to argue with the Nurses about them giving Her what is Her normal Amount of Meds, Plus(THANK GOD FOR HER!!!), they are even giving Her More Now, but the first Couple of Days(EVERY TIME), She is admitted some Place, This Happens, and they always Have Records of it from Prior Stays, the Nurses Just cannot believe that She Takes The Meds, in the Amounts Prescribed, and that it must be a Misprint or a Doctor writing Things Down Wrong, this happens every single Time We Have To Put Her In The Hospital!!! And it really HURTS HER(EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY,MENTALLY and SPIRITUALLY) I am sure as WELL!!!
The amount that She Takes, on a Normal Day To Day Basis, all the Nurses Always say"IF WE GIVE YOU THAT, YOUR GONNA PASS OUT, AND NEVER WAKE." It get's old fighting this same Damn old Battle, Over, and Over Again!!! But once they give Her what She is Supposed To Be Getting, and the Extras Her Doctors Have so Graciously decided to give Her, neither makes Her Drowsy, Loopy, Non-Cognizant,Dead, Slurred Speech, ETC. And it just confounds the Hell out of the Nurses, they always make remarks Like"What We Just Gave You, Would Kill a Normal Human Being!!!" "And Your not Slurring Your Words, Sleeping,High, or anything. Round about this Time, they realize either A. WE HAVE BEEN TELLING THE TRUTH, or B. She's and addict that could not get Her Fix. The really Snide Nurses Say things Like, so How Long were You, or have You Been an Intravenous Drug User!!! It is very Rude, how Some People Judge, Before getting Their Facts Straight!!! It really Makes Y cry, when they ask if She has Been, or Is, an Intravenous Drug user!!! SO INSULTING!!!
Because of Her Numerous Surgeries, She Has Many Blown Veins in Her Forearms, and where they normally Draw Blood From as well. So the Nurses all Jump on the Band Wagon, that Y is a Hype!!! Talk about 1,000% WRONG, and for People that are supposed to be trusted, to give You What Your Doctor, has already Prescribed, then Slyly try to give You Less, Or NONE at all, is Criminal, in My Mind. A Nurse is there to carry out the Doctors Orders, Not Try and Hoodwink Her, out of the Medicines She Has To Have!!! They are still, every Night Thus Far, trying to not give Her the Amount of Sleeping Meds, she is supposed to HAVE. The last 4 Nights, they have tried to trick Her, and Give Her 2 Pills For(SHE TAKES 20mg of this Medication, at Night, Before Sleep. Well, they have been giving Her the 2 pills, but they have been trying to get her to Just take 10mg, 2 5mg Pills, instead of 2 10mg Pills!!!! Because She is not Looped,and I certainly am not, We always catch it, and the Nurses either say things like, I thought they were 2 10mg Pills, or, I do not Know, never seen anyone Take more than 10mg of this Before, ETC, You get the Point, probably like 3 Paragraphs ago!!!
So this My Friends is what I have been dealing with these Past 4 Days, a 300 mile Round Trip, I come just long enough to Feed, Water and Fix or do what needs to be done in the Garden, Go Check on My Dog, and let Her Know We'll be coming back Home, Her Too, and that We Have Not Forgotten about our Good Old Honey-Bear!!! She was an abused and abandoned Female, Pure Blood, Half Blue Nose, Half Red Nose Pit Bull Girl. She is NO LONGER, The Abused Scared Dog We Got Over A Year Ago, from The Pound. She is back to Normal, and is certainly the Alpha Female around other Dogs, but She Neither Hurts or Attacks Dog's or People, Does Not Like Cats at all I am Afraid Though. I give the House a Twice Over, Checking all Widows and Doors, and making sure all our Lights are Off, sometimes I'll leave the Computer and TV Running, so it looks Like, even if the Truck is Gone, that Someone is Keeping an Eye on the Place. I do not Like To be away this Time of Year, for ALL THE OBVIOUS REASONS!!! The Plants are Really Starting to Stack up Beautifully, already have Resin and Tri-chromes galore on Them, but still are very, very Premature, which does Not Mean, some Kid, or those Ignorant about ripened Buds, would not Try and Steal Them!!! My Heirlooms are The Farthest Along, The Red Romulans, The Highlands about the same, everything else is Budding as well, just a week or Two to Three, behind these Others. I do this on Purpose, so I get a staggered Harvest, and can bring them in when Ready, when the ones are finished Drying, and can be placed for curing, it is usually by then about Time for the next set of staggered Plants to come In.
I have a few Strains that will not Be Ready, till the Middle of October, I am Thinking. I am going to remove all of the X-Large Kolas, Large Kolas and Medium Kolas First, and leave all the Smaller Stuff, to ripen up Better, and increase in Size, before Removing. These are, if decently Large Enough, get saved By me with the Others of their Ilk, I have already brought in. The Pop-Corn Buds, get Larger Too, till they are More Like the smallest Buds I bring in Last, and this is what I use to get the Work Done, by using them for trade, so many Hours Work, Traded for so many OZ's of Buddlets. I always give out Nice Stuff as well, but 99% of that is Kept for Y and I!!!
