was making some calculations based on my grow closet size: 1.20 m long by 1 m wide and 1.90 m, that is 2.28 cubic meters (80.5 Cubic feet) My exhaust fan is rated at 87 cfm. That should be replacing the grow room air every minute or so, right? Is this ventilation good enough? I read two versions of the same numbers; some people say air should be replaced 3-5 times every minute, others have the opinion that replacing air every 3-5 minutes is ok? Can somebody with more experience shed some light on this please?
Also, I switched the HPS ballast to 100% output and temps were between 74 (off) and 88.6 (on) Fahrenheit (23.3 to 31.4 Celsius).
I read that temps shouldn't go over 30 Celsius (86 F) so I went back to 75% output and temps dropped to 84.4 during lights on.
Are this temperatures acceptable? Should I take any action regarding this matter?
The RH is 48%-76%, and I live in a very humid area, so the intake air is always relatively humid. I´ve thought of a dehumidifier, but will it be enough given the fact air is replaced every minute? Will it draw humidity from the air fast enough as to make it drier in a minute? will it make a difference?
I would really appreciate some help with this!
Thank your for stopping by.
So? That was the Weasel with the Roach that came over? Get out of my cabinets and stay off my dishes! Puleease!
Funny story Weasel! Hate when that happens!
I have a de-humid, but it put out more heat than sucked up water. Do you vent your de-humids hot air out somehow?
Your cloning technique seems to work. I have never took that much branch for clones. Watching to see this. You got this Roach!
Hi Roach.
Your name always reminds me of an unlucky day at a certain international border. A bunch of us suspicious looking characters had almost finished bullshitting our way across, but at the last minute fell under the gaze of an Attitude Inspector, and things went downhill quickly. The goon squad descended and our van was ransacked, until finally the great prize was discovered. "Roachy Roachy Roachy!!!" loudly proclaimed the hero who had found it, holding it up in the air for all to see, to quiet groans from us, general rejoicing from the goons...
Anyway- they huffed and puffed for another hour or so then 'kicked us out of the country', which is what we wanted anyway.
I keep meaning to read your journal from page 1 but run out of time. Without knowing all the facts I may be just typing gibberish, but- I just finally got a dehumidifier working in my flowering room. My outside air is humid as well. However it's during the plant's nighttime that the humidity really rises. The plants will take the RH of the air and increase it from there. Especially at 'night' when, in my system anyway, temps drop, the thermostat kicks on the vent fans less, and air circulates less, as the plants transpire and raise the RH into the 80s. Anyway- now that I have the dehum- I can get the RH down to 50.
I believe exchanging the air once every 3-5 minutes is standard.
Damn. This explanation needs a bit more explaining but
, I have to run off again...
Actually the intent was never to be a weasel, but to go forth and crack weasels, wherever they can be found (and caught- which is actually the hard part).
I'll try to explain my thoughts re the dehum better, later. In my case it works fine and the outside air is super humid, but it may depend on your venting system.
Actually, here's a thread I started when I was looking- it may help.Looking for help sizing dehumidifier for 8x8' room

Yes it does have it's good points. This time of year the penguins and I can run around and do whatever we please any ol time without flashlights. In winter though things do get a bit boring which is why bud rot can be such a life or death matter. Have you ever had to say "no, sorry I'm all out" to 120 000 penquins? It isn't easy, they are very persistent little birdies.
