TheRoach's First - Soil - Aurora Indica - Organic Grow - 600W

Hello Scar, thank you for the link! I read that thread once, very good information in there. My plan is to let the plants grow a single cola in a SOG set up: I read in a thread that defoliation helps improve the yields in this kind of set up. I will have to do more research but Im leaning towards defoliation. Thxs!

I have seen 1 video where a guy defoliated multiple times and actually got less yield. So it helps if you are growing from clone and know your plant well. Also I think there is probably a little bit of "art" to doing it. I did a small defoliation right around day 21 ish and then a heavy defoliation around day 35 ish of flower this grow. That will be the only 2 times that I do it.

Hmmmmm, this is a hot debate on 420. to defol or not to defol, that is the question. Well on my grow journal we are trying to use only LST and not remove anything, unless the thing in question are sick leaves, then they go away out of necessity. But "key" leaf removal I think impacts bud making. I am doing my best to make this plant healthy and survive like a champ until harvest so we can see if my theory is sound or not.

interesting that you mention "key" leaf removal.
im growing white rhino. in its veg state it stayed very stout and bushy. it was so bushy, that at week three I did minor leaf removal. seriously, I plucked about four leaves off completely at the base. four other leafs I bonzi'd, leaving only the longest finger. this is what I noticed, the four leaves that I plucked at the base produced side branches that were 1/10 the size of the untouched fan leafs. the side branches of the bonzi'd leafs are normal size.
now after I did that minor defol, I read a article defending NOT removing fan leafs. "our plants put a lot of energy into making those fan leafs. I consider them to be the solar panels that power the factory. the leaves are designed to soak up the light and turn it into usable energy and ultimately, sacrifice itself for the growth of the flower."
so hard as it will be (I love to grab a leaf, stick in my mouth and fart around with my plants), I will not be doing my typical defol during flowering. but, I will defol one of my two clones that I have just set out. they are both 5 inches tall and they are twins. I will be able to see which produces a better flower.

looking good Mr. TheRoach! I am confused by your strange and mysterious ways........ if I ever get a chance to grow outside, I will be trying organic.

Thank you for joining us Mussh, very good to have you around!
I have to admit sometimes, Im confused by my strange and mysterious ways too!
I hope they make sense at some point haha
Regards!

Today I checked the clones and 12 out 15 have roots already, Im afraid one or two of the clones may not make it; the water jet produced by the ultrasonic fogger hit directly the stems of two clones and cooked them.
The ultrasonic fogger produces this high frequency vibration that happens to be very damaging for cells if they are hit directly by it. I noticed this the first day I got the fogger when I put my finger in the jet and noticed it was painful, as a burn, but the pain dissapeared inmediately after removing the finger. I wonder if it kills cells by turning the citoplasm into mist and rupturing the cell wall. I hope they make it, bit it is unlikely.
Well, another lesson to learn.
Thanks for watching!

What were you thinking the solution would be? Maybe you could figure out some kind of cap to put on it that lets the smoke (EDIT: fog) out laterally instead of straight up? Can't think of any other ways to solve that without leaving a clone site or two empty.

Yes I was thinking of making a splash guard for the fogger, also making smaller clones prevents this from happening!

Defoil? If the leaf is dead and/or not getting light, cull it. If it is green and in the light, keep it.

Leaves turn light into energy, Buds/white hairs do NOT turn light into energy. Chlorophyll, people, remember your 4th grade science?

Looking good, Roach :)

Hello fellas. Whatcha guys talking about?

On another note, I was a bit busy with some stuff I had to do.
The Fabric pot plants have hardened and settled permanently in the flower room. All the clones in the fog propagator have survived. I had to cut a piece of one of them because the jet from the fogger cooked some of its stem. So it will be 100% survival rate again.
I will harvest some more nugs this week.
I will do an update with pictures later on today.
Am I missing something?
.

He's talking about the shady deal of posts deemed "unsavory" by key members simply disappearing. Even ISIS recruiting is getting censored by Europol!!! Freedom of speech is becoming at risk of extinction.

Yesterday we did a hardware breakdown on a $1500 light from a company that sponsors 420. They advertise 1440 watt, but it was immediately discovered that only 820 watts go into the light. What a PITA for someone foolish enough to have that kind of money laying around, casually investing into nothing more than hype and BS.

For $1500 I could DIY my own 2000 watt LED array, real power.

Knowing too much can get people into trouble. Nothing new here...

Hello fellas. Whatcha guys talking about?

Am I missing something? Im really intrigued on what weaselcraker is talking about, do you guys mind sharing the gossip with me?
.

hahaha I was wondering if I missed something also, but I do understand what he is talking about. I had various posts deleted from my first journal. most were pictures that didn't have to do with cannabis. one was of me walking my cat on a leash outside. another was a homemade bubbler I made out of two Gatorade bottles. 420 staff told me that their sponsers took offense to me showing people how to make their own. my first thought was, how in the hell is a skilled glass blower going to be offended by my dyi plastic bong? ahahahaha. I seriously considered making a bunch of home made pipes and having them hidden in the pictures. like wheres waldo. oh look!! is that a pipe made out of an apple!!?? seems silly to me, but this isn't a democracy, this is 420.

Just a tip, if you want to upload anything not related to ganja, just upload it to "OFF TOPIC" gallery and you'll be fine. The system watermarks all regular gallery photos with the 420mag except off topic stuff. 420 admin doesn't want the brand on non ganja stuff basically...

now that makes perfect sense.

think they will edit my droid stem shot? I am using the George Lucas formula and the force!
the friggin plot thickens!

Oh ok. So dont post a DIY tutorial on anything you can buy from these people?
Too bad!
I have a DIY much-better-mycorrhizal-inoculum tutorial.
It will be followed by a DIY much-better-LED tutorial light by Vlad.
I will throw a DIY-much-better-soil tutorial in the mix.
Soon to be accompanied by the DIY-much-better-strain-crosses tutorial.
A DIY-much-cheaper-fem-seeds tutorial.
How about way-cheaper-glass-bongs-and-pipes tutorial made by a professional glass blower friend of mine?

The point being, whatever is sold to you can be made for way cheaper, technical skills and knowledge permitting. And guess what? Internet has made us powerhouses of technical skill, with almost unlimited access to knowledge.
So save your hard earned silver coins for buying fruits, so you can make your own booze with Vlads tutorial.
And make your own bongs, by all means necessary!

PD: Vaporizers are also easy to make if you know how to use a soldering iron and have a basic understanding of electronics.

haha, they will dig it.

As long as there is DIY, the regular man will always have the power to do something great and rise above the consumer nation.

I have my own DIY vape...
I started out like any other mortal, buying crap. I had a fake magicflight, a fake easyvape, and then I stopped buying vapes and built my own. I took apart the easyvape and made a glass on glass hash vaporizer and changed the heating element for one that I took out of a 12 volt ceramic soldering iron. I brought the easyvape glass parts to a guy that makes borosilicate lab equipment and he cloned them and made thicker parts for $15. Now I blast off into the milkyway and don't come back down for hours. every. day. sorry, no life in space was found.

One day I might want a volcano, for vaping my herb, but I'd buy a porsche 911 before that happens.
