TheBlaze - Strawberry Diesel & Darlin's Net Pheno Hunt

Good to have you here bud

One day I will make an effort to do some pollen chucking. ;) Are you familiar with Darlin's Net? I was impressed by the test grows. I'm excited to see what I get from those 12.

The purple train I lost was from hso (worst genetics ever, early leaf mutation and didn't develop like the rest root structure wise), overall I highly doubt I'll order from them again even with the blue dream doing well.

Yeah, too many other breeders out there to waste time with anything you don't feel comfortable with. Really would like to try some bodhi and motarebel.

It's tough when you're new to figure out who's who. I'm especially leery about the breeders offering their take on a popular strain - feels like a little bit of a cash grab. Part of why I started with 1 breeder whose strains I was familiar with. I'm glad you guys share your opinions in here, even when they go against the norm. Growing from seed is such an investment that it's only right you're 100% comfortable before you commit.

You've chosen some nice strains for your first grow Dobe. How did you make your choice?

Thanks Blaze. The genetics you've grown fit my tastes very well - I definitely want to grow Exodus Kush at some point.

My first medical provider up here in Canada partnered with DNA to offer a number of their strains to Canadian medical users. I tried a bunch and was impressed. I have found that a strong indica with physical effects serves me best and wanted one that was as close to pure landrace genetics as possible. I researched to find an appropriate strain and was led to LA Confidential. My second most useful medical MJ is a hybrid with a strong indica side, because I can take it earlier in the evening without wanting to go to sleep. Golden Lemons (Kosher Kush x Lemon Skunk) was good in that respect but I didn't love the taste and found it a little harsh. I figured 24K Gold would replace the Golden Lemons traits I didn't like but retain the best effects, and I'm dying for a taste of the Tangie hype.

The other genetics I have coming up for my next few rounds is a similar story. I've enjoyed all 3 phenos of Chocolate Fondue, especially the most Chocolope-leaning phenotype and I loved Cannalope, so I figure Chocolope will be excellent, although it'll be more for my enjoyment and relaxation than for my finicky stomach. Violator Kush is a close to pure indica (Hindu Kush x Malala) that worked excellently for me for end of day, and I'm hoping Royal Gorilla will be a strong hybrid that doesn't lay me out. Candida is for my wife who has Rheumatoid arthritis.

I see you've put some thought into your selections. Nice! Chocolope will have it's day in my garden in the near future. I've always shied away from sativas, but that is slowly changing. My current favourite in the flower tent is a sativa. So chocolope will be in my basket soon enough. Just need to work through the veg girls first. LOL!

I figured if I was going to invest all this money in gear, the least I could do is grow strains that should be amazing if I'm successful! But yeah, I'm an analytical type so I have to research and weigh options before I'm happy.

I enjoy sativas they're just purely recreational for me, so I only have them when the timing is right. But in the right circumstances I love a good sativa! I like a strain I can have in the morning on a day off and still be productive / responsible around the house.

Hey JC, I'm a little shocked at the growth in soil. Always thought coco/hydro was quicker. I did notice that they took longer to recover from transplant shock, but that might be more due to the size of those pots than a soil vs coco thing. Always thought organics was boring. I'm loving it though. So much to learn as well. Good to have you here man.

Blaze you are killing it bru :adore: 35 days? Damn homie slow down! LoL

:cheesygrinsmiley: Thanks Pat

Do yourself a favour bud. For your next grow, look up freedom farms in Stellenbosch. Buy their soil. :thumb:

Shot bru yeah they are just here on the other side neh? I will take a look at it. Do you just use their soil they have clean or do you add anything else? This might be very legit for my cloning and breeding so I could focus more on the big girl in the other tent I want to get. Going to try and pull 700-800g from one plant in there. Still will keep that coco but for the breeding tent will most certainly look into it bud, shot alot. I will speak to JustinHemp also, dude stays literally 5min from me down the road  he is soil befok so might be good for him also

I add plenty to it, :cheesygrinsmiley: , but it makes for a solid base that seems quite forgiving.

I add:

- Mycorrhizae
- Kelpak
- Biobizz
- EM-prosoil
- Humic and Fulvic acids

Blaze just wondering if u could answerva tent related q for me .
I bought a tent and when I set it up and turned on the 2 HP's 600 w lights ,I saw there are tiny little light leeks in zip area /where its stitched, when making a room I'm always super carefully to ensure complete darkness, I've never grown in a tent before (there were none!) My friend says all tents are like this and its ok?

What do you do to make those tiny stichholes lightproof or is it fine as is?
Thanks in advance and killer plants!

Thanks bud

My tents have the same. I just make sure the room they're in is quite dark. So it's not really an issue. I take it by your post you do the same, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. You could also just hang a sheet over the tent after you close it up, to be 100% sure.

I subbed on your grow Blaze, I'm on my first grow using the " Pro Organic" soil mix from the local hydroponics shop. I actually wanted the freedom farm mix and had no idea they have 2 different ones, one done by themselves is the pro mix which I got. I clones have been up potted already to the pro mix but once my seedlings go up I'm gonna use the Freedom Farms mix. These hydro shops can take a big chance sometimes so I think the freedom farm soil mix is a better bet in terms of getting what you paid for. Anyway I'm following you as our little ones are not far off each other, I do have seed from the bag though and not proper genetics .

Nice to have another local join the thread. Welcome boet.

I got my soil from gthydro. If you're in the cape, then it definitely makes more sense to get it straight from freedom farms though. They're good guys as well.

Do you have a journal bud?

BTW, I used to be on the SA forum as well. Nick was TrailBlazer there.

Your about to see how it's done, my man ✌️

Good to have you on this journal as well bud. Should have another update tonight. Those strawberry diesels are extremely vigorous. They are plenty big enough to flip already, but they will have to wait another 3 weeks at least. They're going to be beasts! :thumb: Will cut them back tomorrow.
