Dang I've been looking for Pinkman goo for a bit my girl is obsessed with it.
Hey everybody!
Things are progressing along nicely with the @Weedseedsexpress beans. Speaking of which if you have any questions regarding the Weedseedsexpress beans then reach out to them here at :420: . They are always checking in and typically get back to you within 24 business hours.
The Pinkman Goo's grow out a little slower and number 2 is finally making some head way. I do notice out of all of them the number 2 Goo is already showing signs of hunger.

All the pots were precharged with the same nute mix. I would have thought this one to be the FFOF recycled mix but it's actually in the MGOS. Goo number 1 doesn't show the same hunger signs and yet is older and bigger. It is in the same MGOS. Fascinating.

So not much to say about the Lithium OG Kush. They just want to keep on rollin so I'm letting them do their thing. Here's a couple of pics of the LOGK #2.

I've just begun my attempt at LST and I'm following the tutorial that @InTheShed wrote up here. If you have not checked it out then it's worth the visit before you attempt LST for the first time.
I won't be describing what I do in this journal but you can follow my progress at Shed's official thread on LST.
So below I've only started with the one plant until I know things are going as expected. If so I'll start to tie the others down. This is the LOGK #1 before the start of LST

and this is the LOGK #1 at the beginning of LST.

Enjoy the week everyone!

The sugar on those flowering plants completely negates the need for cornbread for sure!

In terms of your LST, I'll repost here what I posted there. Since you're using two ties (like you are), the rock's job is on the other side of the stem, to keep the support wire from sliding down. I want you to slide those support wires further up the stem so the bottom of the trunk has no lean at all. It should be growing straight out of the soil, otherwise you are putting stress on the root-stem connection, in addition to the fact that:

The idea is actually to get the top lower than the rest of the plant so the plant thinks it doesn't have a top at all. Level won't have the same effect on auxin distribution. That's the reason for waiting until the main stem is taller, otherwise you're always heading up toward the outside of the pot rather than down to it. And with the lean, it will always be heading north.
Thanks for the LST tips...will start LST on my first autos in a few days. I will aim for lower not level.

Welcome Wooblaaaaaah! I'm excited to run that one so I can't get it to harvest fast enough. @Weedseedsexpress seem to have some good beans and these ones are plugging along nicely. Here's a link in case you wanted to read up on it.

Bread making post is here. The recipe is from the failing NY Times and the recipe recommendation as well as the my starter both came from a generous grower on this site
Hey Shed that's the same recipe for sourdough i use except I have reduced the salt to 1% for my wife she is on a low sodium diet. I got the recipe online here I double the recipe to make 2 loafs and the measurements work out the same as yours.

Great link! Well explained with pics and clear details. I was so baffled by the NY Times descriptions that I had to watch YouTube videos to figure out what they were talking about. Definitely not for a novice. Yours is way better. :thanks:

My wife actually has me add a bit more salt!

Sorry for the bread hijack MrS, back to rivets grommets.

I think the rock goes on the opposite side, to help keep the roots from lifting?
I dunno. I see the rock on the side of the bend here, but no bend....

I use the support tie exclusively now, so the rock goes opposite the bend on mine.
but I will move mine to the opposite side.
I would be also - they look great!
Thanks Beez! :passitleft:

I like to use the rock on the inside radius of the bend for a couple of reasons. First, the rock helps me to maintain a minimum bend radius, kind of how a tube/pipe bender works. The minimum bend radius is important so you don’t kink the main stalk. Second, I’ve found that if I use a bigger rock, it helps me to keep the first few inches of the stalk coming out of the ground more vertical, as Shed has mentioned. Remember, we ain’t looking to recreate the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

I also like to use green stretchy garden tape instead of a pipe cleaner on the main stalk. The green garden tape is wider than a pipe cleaner and will stretch as the plant grows, so it won’t dig into the stalk, like what may happen with a pipe cleaner.

Any way, that’s a couple of things I’ve found that work for me. YMMV. Hope this helps and wasn’t too confusing.

Thanks BigD!
No, not confusing. I will be using the green rubbery ties once the stalk is bigger. It's something I have on hand and seems to work well.
I understand what you are saying about the bend radius but really the plant isn't going to crush and bend without snapping at that point first. It's added security I suppose but even the way mine is hooked over the first node I don't even need a rock. The radius is fine and the tie is being held by the first node knot.
Tomorrow I should be able to get the apical stem below the second node. My biggest problem as you know was not waiting a little while longer for some more vertical growth.
I'm sure there's many ways to skin a cat and I most likely will stick with the method Shed demonstrates so I stay consistent with his ways when I teach others down the road.

Oh My. The Meringue are stunning. They actually look delicious. Creme Brûlée delicious. That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw those pics. I’m weird, I know.
Haha! Not weird. Today they remind me of creamsicles. They just keeping getting prettier everyday as far as coloring goes.

I'm not quite sure why you are torturing that poor plant but I am interested to see how it turns out. I think the rock is supposed to be tied to the tip of the plant. :nerd-with-glasses:
