The Quest For A Kilo

Down came auto anesthesia this afternoon.

Looks like she has produced a little more than expected - somewhere between 1.5 and 2.5 ounces :)

Hey Mono! The garden is looking good as always. That beast is growing quicker than what I'm used to. :thumb:

Whats the secret? Is it transferring it to a large pot in veg for the roots to grow through. Is the medium just coco? :MoreNutes: Can't wait to see the growth explode.

Thanks bud :). I'm not sure what makes them grow quickly to be honest, I've been careful to keep the environment perfect for her, other than that she has just been left to fend for herself.

I've had a few changes to the growing schedules so there is a high chance she is going to need to begin flowering in the next couple of weeks, three at the most. With the current flowering plants finishing under the LED

Time for a bit of an update.

We have roots on the northern lights x big bud clone. I could have left her to grow more before planting, but in no rush for her to grow at the moment.

The big girl is settling into the 56 litre pot, although I might only be able to push veg for another three weeks at the most

And all is well in the flowering tent, these plants will need to finish under the LED when the big girl moves in to flower

With plans ever changing like the wind, I undid all the ties today and did the transplant from 20 litres upto 56 litres.

I'm going to water her to runoff this evening to wash out any salts in the coco ( canna is generally very good at providing a clean medium, but doesn't hurt to be careful)

I think I will give her a couple of days without the ties, then hit her with another defol and training session.

Lights are on in the flowering tent in a couple of hours so I will update on the filler run tonight :)

Cheers fella and welcome aboard!

The key to her production will be if she can replicate the root system in the bigger pot before i flip to 12/12 in about three weeks, if not it may be a little disappointing in the yield department.

Cheers guys.

With the loss of a couple of weeks veg I've gone for a little change of tactic.

The last couple of grows I've removed close to the lower half of growth over the course of flowering. In the interest of reducing veg time without hitting yield, the plan is to cover the 4x4 with around 2.5 feet of growth rather than 4 feet.

Without moving any of the lower growth, there may just be an increase in yield accounting for less wasted energy with the lower growth.

Anyway, a major training and defol day. 2.5 weeks veg to go and we are 3ft square and 12 inches of foliage.

The left hand side has been trained, took about half her height out.

Mono I have got a question for you brother, with big plants like yours, how much wire/string do you use to LST her??

Hey Pat,

To be honest, it's not really an awful lot. Other than the main branches (about 10) everything else is just supercropped to the desired direction.

I just adjust and replace the string on the main branches each time. It's a heck of a lot easier than tying down each individual branch :)

For sure  I did LST for my plants but looked more like a 50 shades of green bondage, too many strings made it difficult to water properly. Do you still use the screen or are you only sticking to supercropping and lst?

Welcome aboard fella. I don't think I will pull the kg with the next big plant, real life has decided to get in the way and knock a couple of weeks veg off the allotted time.

It's giving me a good chance to try a slightly smaller plant height wise to see if the reduction in lower growth being removed increases the overall yield.

In other words, does a smaller plant with no popcorn buds produce as much or more than a larger plant with popcorn buds removed. (Bearing in mind they are all at the max width of 4x4)
