The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

I think you're close enough to finish that I wouldn't worry about it. Have you researched to see if others have this purpling with this strain? That'd be where I'd start. Find other cultivator's growing the same strain and see if theirs went purple too.

You should have a regular schedule of amendments in your drenches. That'll keep reinforcing the soil. I try to use coconut water at the rate of 1/4 cup per gallon with every other watering. The kelp needs to be reconstituted, and then you can simply dilute that with water, strain the larger particulate matter out and use as a foliar. No need to bubble for a foliar.

Keep in mind you're talking to a woman having her own soil issues. I'm still pretty new to all of the science myself. Try to take the time to read through the soil discussion thread Blazinjones. There are some excellent instructions on those pages for soil building and the reasons behind it.

Llama once posted a write up on soil maintenance he gathered from a friend who works in the field. That's in that thread somewhere. Look for that one.

thts what i wud do normally but the seeds i got were from a grower friend of mine tht is no longer around and these were his experiment seeds tht he was doing a bunch of cross breeding and so sum r failurs and others are gems:thumb: lol but yea they r femenized using the colloidal silver method but thts all i got he said he cudnt member the strains and my one was from a bag seed i had tht the lable i had put on it read alien k. so i think it was sum alien kush i got a while back but thts not the purple one i have in question but yea thanx so much for the help

hey ss i hope u dont mind me posting a pic to go wit my question in ur journal but with this girl im havn a purple effect going on i dnt know if its from the phenotype or if its a deficiency of sum sort? The reason i think it mite be a trait of the plant is cuz the buds r getting lil purple chunks in them and this girl im letting go longer then all the rest did so maybe by letting her grow longer its bringing out the purple its jus takn so long i didnt think it wud happen or tht these strains jus didnt have any purple in them cuz this 1 has been in flower since early part of september so flowering for rite around 3 months is tht normal 4sum strains?? but yea if u cud let me know what u think of my possible purps lol i wud greatly appreciate it :thanks: and :Namaste: an member keep it green every1:green_heart:

Sue I hope you don't mind if I post an opinion on his question...

There's nothing wrong with your plants. Resist the temptation to fiddle. They are almost done and they look mouth-watering.

Separate note:

Sue, your experience with edibles has pushed me into insanity and I got the Magical Butter machine. Thanks in advance for ruining my life. :thanks:

Peace, Hyena

Good Morning everyone.

I may get whisked away by a friend today so the update may have to wait until later. Not sure if the coating of ice we got overnight will slow her down. She's missing me pretty bad today. But I'm in limbo right now, getting ready to have my brownie. Wait.....

Good grief, these are tasty. My favorite breakfast. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It smells unbelievably intoxicating in my hallway. Lol! I have totes stacked there as I decorate.

IMG_247521.JPG

I found myself wondering if that'd be a comfy height to work on the iPad. :laughtwo:

Omerta

Edit: And another thing.....There's no situation that can't be made worse by calling the police. :)

 So true, so true. Lol!

....and the universe smiled. :battingeyelashes: Staying home today. It's surprising how much time one can devote to this hobby. Well, most don't get as carried away with photo documentation, so........ Nope. There's work.

I'm on mite patrol. First thing was get the clone girls hosting the mite party and introduce them to the mite-toxic atmosphere of a fine misting of 50/50 ISO. The clones themselves took that well. They'll get a mild DeStress foliar before returning to the tent.

The tent I need to get my procrastinating butt into and get scrubbed down.

IMG_248823.JPG

Mmmmm...... The smell of Dr. Bonner's Peppermint soap. Makes the effort extra special good. It'll make an interesting contrast to the drying Carnival that's driving my olfactory system nuts. :laughtwo:

Time to get to work. :ciao:

My entire body is buzzing. The energy this decarb added to this bud is unbelievable. Every morning I wonder if there'll be a tapering off. If there is, I haven't found it yet. I think I'm at five days, running full steam? Hmmmmm......

and song continues...this is the way we scrub our tent
scrub tent
scrub our tent

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ahhhhh....... That was a good laugh. :laughtwo:

There's something therapeutic about wiping the tent down. When doing so for pest control it become a dance in deliberate movement - one small block at a time.... turn the cloth..... another small block.... rinse and repeat until every surface has been methodically wiped clean.

That smell of cleanliness I associate with the soap makes all the difference. It becomes a driving force.

IMG_251715.JPG

Everything's been cleaned. Throughly cleaned. :blunt:

You start off thinking the tent can't possibly be that dirty after it's been swept out.

You're always wrong about that.

IMG_251816.JPG

The clones got a diluted DeStress. I'll repeat that tomorrow. They're all tucked away back in their cleaner environment. On Tuesday I'll repeat that entire process. I have some pretty pictures for the update, but here's a few to tide you over.

IMG_251919.JPG

IMG_252019.JPG

After the next cleaning I'll feel better about bringing the other clones in here and letting them all finish out together, with the exception of the window sill girls.

IMG_252125.JPG

IMG_252218.JPG

One last peek. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_252316.JPG

Back to work for me. I let the coffee go cold again. Hmmmm..... Coffee at a break time might be a better choice.

Break time? What's that?

I'll be back :ciao: :green_heart:

Let's get this show started, shall we?

Weekly Update: December 17, 2016 - Carn1 Clones

I'm going to start with the ones struggling the most and work my way up to the most vigorious.

Carn1:5 (Day 65) Rescued from the trash heap only as an experiment on how much, if anything, I could get out of a seriously light-deficient plant. I'm thinking the next logical step is see what would improve the chances of success. My train of thought is how to advise someone working under the most limited of conditions to at least get some sweet reward for a special night of relief. If only for one night, it's been a gentle companion who keeps growing.

The bathroom clones got flipped on Sunday. Six days into the flip now.

This week I started feeding both of the window sill girls the General Hydroponic nutes I have on hand for the hempy. Those nutes are getting much more use than I'd planned when I ordered them. I'm just faking it at this point, but I am keeping records. Somewhere along the line I'll share.

IMG_254324.JPG

Not looking very hopeful, is she? Nothing to lose with her. She looks pretty in the window and no one but me can see her from anywhere out there. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_254621.JPG

IMG_254419.JPG

Carn1:6 (Day 65) She also started getting bottled nutes. An interesting irony, SweetSue playing with bottled nutes. I'm winging it. I have no idea how they'll respond. Quite the learning experience.

In another stroke of irony, it's probably going to make me finally pay attention to what makes Cannabis grow. :laughtwo: God only knows what I'm going to end up with in this garden. Lol!

IMG_254125.JPG

IMG_254024.JPG

IMG_254225.JPG

The curtain has to be closed around five or the room becomes a beacon for a couple blocks. Lol! The window sill girls get the benefit of the overhead until lights out. These struggling plants have also had to contend with my sleeping in, which results in their being denied a couple hours of window light every morning.

Ain't science fun? :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_256116.JPG

Next......

Carn1:3 (Day 68) She's the damp damsel on the far right. In a couple days she'll be feeling and looking much better. Her last drench was two days ago, her first Energy drench since entering flowering, six days ago. Brix in the morning, from the looks of my notes.

IMG_254722.JPG

She's just starting to show pistils, none of which can be seen in this shot. :laughtwo: Sorry guys. Lights are out by now.

IMG_254821.JPG

Looking at her I think a DeStress is what's called for here.

On to the auto tent.

Carn1:4 (Day 65) She was transplanted into the fabric pot on Monday with a double shot of Transplant and Tea. Tuesday I followed that with a foliar of DeStress and Way Ahead. On Thursday she was already thirsty enough for a plain water drench. I believe that indicates healthy adaptation to renewed root growth, and that makes me very happy. :battingeyelashes:

IMG_250526.JPG

IMG_251217.JPG

IMG_251327.JPG

The way the leaves erupt are reminiscent to me of the headdresses of Carnival dancers. I wonder if that had anything to do with the name choice? The effect is as much fun as a carnival. Last night I tried some of my newly-harvested Carnival that I'd dried a few days ago and.......... Oh yeah. I remember that. :slide:

Graytail.....surely you're missing that fresh-harvest sweetness. :battingeyelashes:

My heart skips a beat when I consider the first pan of brownies done with buds decarbed longer. :dreamy: :green_heart:

IMG_251521.JPG

Finishing up.....

Carn1:1 (Day 71)

IMG_248323.JPG

A treat, a small window into SweetSue.

The framed works in the background are xeroxed copies of quilt squares friends and I made to celebrate the marriage of another of our friends. College compatriots, one of our clan inspired the others to each design and produce a square to fit the parameters of the planned quilt. The project lagged for years and I ended up with the collection, hoping to get it all joined into the final piece.

That didn't happen under my watch, but before I returned them to the artist who had the original vision I got copies made. The quality of the copies is such that you'd swear they were fabric.

This delicate one on the right was my contribution, worked during my daughter's first hospitalization for asthma, at the age of two. This cross-stitch saved my sanity.

IMG_248622.JPG

Carn1:2 (Day 71)

IMG_248924.JPG

These three squares were done by my maid of honor (top left), the friend who officiated at my impromptu wedding ceremony (top right), and the dear friend who's name I chose as my son's middle name (bottom, partially obstructed pig).

IMG_249123.JPG

Sweet memories. :battingeyelashes:

Next up: Carn2 clones. Be right back. :ciao:

Weekly Update: Saturday, December 17, 2016

All of the Carn2 clones are any Day 53.

Emerald (Day 65) She still lives. I'd be bumping up her nutes to 7:14 next round. She's had water only the last time. Tomorrow will likely be her next drink with nutrients. She and I haven't figured out where we're going, but I'm pretty sure it'll include moving her into more root space and switching her from Lucas to the standard nute run. She's suffered long enough.

The plan is help her get stronger for a couple weeks and then get her flowering.

IMG_253018.JPG

IMG_252919.JPG

She may surprise us yet. If I can figure out how to feed her she'll explode. She'd be going into flower at around 80 days. Hmmmm......that'll be fun.

The rest of the batch, growing in small pots of soil, got a nute drench for flowering on Tuesday, 1-2-3. Next time they'll just get water, but they responded well to back-to-back feedings. I'm actually kinda impressed.

Last post coming up.

Weekly Update: Saturday, December 17, 2016 - Everyone else

Lets clean up, so I can get a bite to eat and grab my evening buzz. I still have a couple more posts, but they're supplemental. They can wait. I haven't stopped to eat for a few hours, and I can feel that's a mistake.

On with the tour. :battingeyelashes:

CBD Critical Cure (Day 16) Just starting to get her new feet under her. On Tuesday she went into the one-gallon pot with just plain water. She's happy here for now.

IMG_253218.JPG

Dark Devil Auto 5 (Day 34) is having mag issues. She had her second epsoms foliar today, and that appears to be helping.

IMG_252614.JPG

She's still droopy from the spray.

IMG_252711.JPG

While putting things away I found the box of Langbeinite.

IMG_256215.JPG

I worked about three tablespoons into the soil. That'll seep down as I water.

IMG_252414.JPG

IMG_252515.JPG

IMG_252814.JPG

Train Wreck Auto (Day 57) Not my best performer. I haven't had the luck with Crop King Seeds everyone else is having. It may be the light. It may be my soil. It's probably both of them and me. I have a lot of seeds to play with. I'll catch on.

IMG_250628.JPG

Here she is six days ago. Big change. I'd say she's ready. I'll be harvesting in the morning.

IMG_25631.PNG

IMG_250726.JPG

IMG_250823.JPG

The soil goes outside in the freezing cold. This pot has mites that I don't want to have to deal with any longer. It joins the pot from Carn2 out on the balcony until I have some way to dispose of the soil.

IMG_250920.JPG

She'll be a taste, and not much more.

IMG_251025.JPG

Candy Cane Auto (Day 13). Another CKS straggler. Nowhere near ready to be topped and she'll start flowering in the next week, in all likelihood. Looking closely I see signs of mites. Time to rethink.

IMG_251123.JPG

The aloes are cruising along, growing stronger by the day.

IMG_253418.JPG

That's it for the updates. After I eat something I need to look them over myself. Things showed up there that gave me pause.

I'll be back in a bit with more posts.

:ciao:

Carnival #2: Wet Weight

The pot of soil is sitting in the cold. It's infested with mites and at its end anyway. I'm starting over with soil. I'll be getting the next batch started tomorrow.

IMG_245523.JPG

I pulled the branches, trimmed off the excess and weighed. My standard is figure on 20%. I'm looking at 2 oz, something in the neighborhood of 60 grams. Not what I'd hoped for, and the buds are quite dense, so it could surprise me with more, but I'm happy with it. The soil struggled, and I feel blessed to have two ounces of superior bud.

IMG_247627.JPG

IMG_247826.JPG

IMG_247928.JPG

That 60 grams will make 7 pans of brownies and still leave me about a quarter to smoke. Seven weeks of meds is nothing to be disappointed in. :blunt:

IMG_247732.JPG

I'll be decarbing every bit of it for maximum THC. :yahoo:

Trichome Treats

While I had Carn1:1 and 1:2 out I grabbed some close-ups of the trichomes developing following their first CAT a week ago. Either tomorrow or Monday they'll get the next one. In no particular order.

lovely looking ladies you have there, and congrats on the nice harvest!!!

Thank you cannaruss. You reminded me I need to post it on the Carnival thread. :laughtwo:

Hmmm. If you will de-carb it all why do you not just do it now? Why cure first? - - -just a thought.

Miss Sue, could you please point me to your latest recipe for capsules? Please?

I'm not really sure, other than habit lazyfish, although it occurs to me that letting the water evaporate first might be a good thing. I can't think straight enough tonight to work it out. Lol!

Part of the harvest from the clones will be processed fresh. I'll have to work out timings on that soon.

Oil recipes.....

- Use olive oil or another long-chained fatty acid for most medicinal needs. Liver cancer is a primary exception. Use coconut oil for that.

- Use coconut oil for r creation all. It's a medium-chained fat and goes straight to the liver. You'll get higher, faster with coconut oil and lecithin.

- Get yourself some liquid sunflower lecithin. It potentiates the cannabis by making it more bioavailable, as well as supply the body with essential nutrients.

The strength of the oil is dependent on the intended reciepient, and the reason for the dose. Some of my recents are

- 36-hour bake oil is 3-7 grams to a half cup of oil.
- CBD capsules were made at 100 grams bud to 500 ml oil. This would work for any capsules, not just CBD-dominants.
- It's pretty standard to use 7grams of buds or an ounce of sugar leaves to a half cup of oil.

Whatever recipe you choose, use 1 Tablespoon of lecithin per cup of oil. I use that Tbs for anything under a cup as well.

Decarb the plant material, add to the oil and lecithin and cook by the method you prefer.

Here's a good recipe. I'm going to use this one next.

Cannacoconut oil

1/2 cup coconut oil
7 grams bud or 1 oz sugar leaves
1tbs liquid sunflower lecithin

Preheat the oven to 230 degrees F

* Finely chop the cannabis and seal into an oven-safe container.
* Bake 30 minutes. Remove and cool. I toss mine in the freezer for an hour before I open it.
* Stir in the oil and half the lecithin. Reseal and put back in to the oven, which is back up to 230 F.
* Bake another 30 minutes. Completely cool before opening.
* Add the rest of the lecithin and mash it all together with a fork. Reseal good and tight.
* Bake another 50 minutes at 230 F.
* Cool in the refrigerator overnight, or at least six hours.
* Gently reheat to room temperature. Strain the oil out and use.

I hope that helped. I need to go to bed now. If you need more help either leave me a post or ask at the study hall.

Goodnight everyone.

Happy Sunday Sue :hugs:  :hugs:

Happy Sunday Mr Am4zin. :hugs:  :hugs:

Have you checked out the Joy thread yet? I did a post on the suit yesterday. I'll see you later in your yard. :kisstwo:
