The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

I'm most excited about the progress DDA2 has made. Like a soap opera I tune in to see how one of your little charges has progressed and lately it has been DDA2 in my spotlight.

She's looking exciting to me too. Her leaves are so beautiful, unlike any of the others. A few more days and I'll be able to decide how I want to train her, if at all past that topping. I'm glad you're enjoying her. :battingeyelashes:

Happy Friday Sue :hugs:  :hugs:

Happy Friday Mr Am4zin. Enjoy the weekend of freedom. :hugs:  :hugs:

Alright, finally home. Let's do this. :laughtwo:

Daily Update: Friday, May 13, 2016

No gardening chores today, just a quick check in to make sure everything's going well. Let's start in the tiny closet again. Carnival (Day 26)

image12024.jpeg

DDA2 (Day 31) Starting to look really interesting.

image12025.jpeg

The clones are still holding well. They've been in there for 11 days.

image12026.jpeg

Lets see what's up in the flowering tent. We're at Day 93 with these two.

image12027.jpeg

CBD Critical Mass. Ten days from the flip and she's setting blossoms. Here we go. :slide:

image12028.jpeg

image12029.jpeg

CBD Critical Cure is 28 days from flip and 1 day from her first CAT and showing her first signs of trichome development.

image12030.jpeg

image12033.jpeg

Now for the veg tent.

image12034.jpeg

Isnt that a nice view? They're catching on now. :laughtwo:

image12035.jpeg

Bubba Kush (Day 30)

image12036.jpeg

image12037.jpeg

Super Cheese (Day 17)

image12038.jpeg

image12039.jpeg

Strawberry Blue (Day 31)

image12040.jpeg

Tue occupants of the community pot. I can see this is going to challenge me to make sure they all have adequate air movement and their own space. I'm impressed with how tight the nodes are on the seedlings that're out there under the Advanced panel. I expected them to be stretchier. I may take that CFL lamp off the Super Cheese tomorrow.

The larger Crossroads is Day 17, Crossroads 2 is Day 11, and Shiva Shanti ll is now at Day 10.

image12041.jpeg

That's the tour folks. :battingeyelashes: Thank you so much for stopping to visit. Now do your cosmic duty and live joyously, then go out of your way to spread that joy at every opening. Got it? Good, you've been paying attention. :laughtwo:

I'm gonna see if I can rustle up a decent meal. Oh yeah, I brought home a frozen veggie pizza. It'll do in a pinch. Frees me up to spend some time catching up. I'll be seeing you around the yards, right after I finish off the rest of the Dark Devil Auto "accidents". To be fair, they really were accidents. :laughtwo:

:Namaste:

I had a surprise seed fall out of the Zamaldelica I was smoking the other day. I have an extra pot out on the balcony that had an Afghani that went male on me last season. The pot of LOS wintered over outside, so I'm gonna plant this seed out there and train it low to keep it stealthy. It'll be warm enough by the time the seedling's ready for transplant and that gives me time to get an ACT and some drenches into the pot before then. This is assuming the seed's viable.

I was just feeling frisky, I guess. :laughtwo:

We'll know in 72 hours.

I was over at Green Flower Media yesterday studying up on using cannabis to treat insomnia and I thought I'd share what I learned with you. This journal is about healing, after all.

It's pretty fundamemental stuff. They're really selling that course on insomnia, which I'm still thinking of taking. My money hits the bank right before the class starts, so I have time to get registered.

The basic info:

- THC causes an increase in deep sleep and a decrease in REM sleep.

- THC appears to increase initial sleepiness and make you fall asleep faster. It can also leave you feeling lethargic in the morning.
* This sleepiness happens to me with every sativa I've smoked except Carnival. I usually push through until I catch a second wind. Turns out I should have been going to sleep. :laughtwo:

- CBD mitigates against possible anxiety induced by THC, leaving you feeling calm, relaxed, and peaceful.

- CBD, in proper ratio to the THC, can increase feelings of alertness and wakefulness. In other words, you can use CBD to eliminate the THC-induced lethargy.

Cannabinoids having particularly sedative effects:
- CBN (cannabinol) According to Steep Hill Labs CBN appears to be the most sedative of all cannabinoids.
- CBC (cannabichromene)
- CBG (cannabigerol)

There are over 100 unique cannabinoids in cannabis, plus the terpenes and flavinoids. Of the terpenes, the ones having strong sedative or relaxant effects are:
- myrcene
- linalool
- citral

I realize that I can choose to go to sleep when fatigue first hits instead of staying up all night. The challenge will be that I like staying up all night. I get so much writing done in the wee small hours of the morning and some of my favorite people don't come on line until after midnight. :laughtwo:

I'm learning how important that sleep is though, so I'll make the effort. I'll be interested in seeing what dosing strategies this doctor teaching the course has to share.

Thank you so much millertm. :hugs:

This eagle eye caught what I missed for the second time. I have thrips in the no-tills. Evidentially, I didn't treat them long enough the last time, a mistake I won't be repeating.

I've applied the first round of spinosad. I'll be repeating that every three days for a few applications.

image12048.jpeg

Out of curiosity, do thrips thrive equally well in high brix plants?
And thanks for the info on sleep. Keep it coming!
I'm sure you've considered that it just might be a natural rhythm for you? I wake up at night and feel sleepy for a large part of the day. I've been this way since I was old enough to retain memories. If it wasn't for the rest of society making schedules that force me to wake up in the morning and do stuff in the daytime- I would be fine.

Happy Saturday Sue :)

My normal sleep pattern is segmented. Im usually in bed right after dinner, and wide awake at 12-1am...this also coincides with when the cat gets hungry and loudly issues his demands whilst sitting on my head :P I'll have a coffee, browse my journals, read a bit, and back to bed at 2:30 for a few hours before work. Smoking doesnt seem to change that, though contrary to their findings, I like the smoke induced dreams better.

There have been plenty of studies done that show the whole 8hr of sleep at once goes against our natural rhythms.

So... I somehow missed the Double D harvest post.
I see the "DD" flowers filling your hand.
Two thoughts come to mind.
First, I'm convinced you must have some sort of freakishly small hands... that's the only way my mind can accept the size of those autos!
Second... I'm reminded of some earlier words about "your double D's" and combine them with a common phrase young men might use when drinking and talking shit with their buddies in the bar.... "Anything over a handful is just a waste"... but I'd have to disagree with those young men in this case.

I think it may help put some people to sleep but I do not think cannabis would cure my insomnia no matter the strain,

I usually sleep for about 4 hours a night on average, my bad habits of staying up late

The time I'm not sleeping I'm usually up smoking :) ha ha

Tead - I never dream either, it must cannabis induced as I go for months without dreaming, if i have an extremely low supply for a few days I will end up having one crazy elaborate dream ha ha

Best dreams of my life (46 years) were had after taking 'T' yellowish pill thingy back in the 80s that was supposed to be concentrated THC. Had no effect on me for hours...went home to watch the Bruins game with my dad and had a beer...BAM!

Went to sleep and had these amazing dreams that I had complete control over. It was like sitting back, scripting the show and deciding when to hop on. Part of me has been searching for that again...the head says 'no bueno' Id never want to get out of bed again.

For me it's nicotine, I chew. If I sleep with one in I get crazy dreams.

Cheers

Yes I have considered that Weaselcracker, and looking back over my earliest posts in my Surviving thread this cycle changed right around the time Dale died, and I've been resisting it all along. I think it's time to accept that my body runs on this rhythm. I have the freedom to sleep as long as I need to, and yet my body wakes up, bright and bushy-tailed, after 4-5 hours. Let me embrace that for a few days before I take this course on insomnia and cannabis.

I couldn't agree more with the highlighted comment. We've structured our societies to favor commerce over health and happiness. Not the smartest move for our species.

That was a wonderful laugh to start my morning. :laughtwo: I hadn't read of those studies, but I haven't paid much attention to sleep patterns before. I was always one to require eight hours or I'd be a raging pain in the ass at some point in the day. Two years ago that dropped to six hours. I just wasn't prepared for it to bottom out at four hours. It's not like I get tired during the day either. Where I assumed Callanetics would help in wearing me down it usually has the opposite effect.

Ya know... I don't dream at all. Well... at least I don't remember any when I wake up.
I was told by a drug counselor that this is a common symptom of normal cannabis use.
Kinda wish I could enjoy some crazy dreams.... but no joy for the Tead.

Take some time off to sensitize the Endocannabinoid system and you'll dream for a few days. Maybe. I seem to recall that my dreams didn't start to return until a month without when I went cold turkey over the holidays last year. As soon as I got back on meds they stopped.

ummm.... no... no it won't... and shame on you for purchasing fake food.
Obviously I need to change my plans. Instead of creating a network protocol to send THC over the wires, I need to figure out how to do it with food!

To be honest Tead, I wasn't able to make myself cook it last night. :laughtwo: The funniest part about that is when I posted it I remember thinking "Tead's gonna give me hell for that."

I'd have to disagree with them in both cases. How sad for these short-sighted men. :laughtwo:

My hands are on the small side. I can't comfortably wrap my fingers around the neck of a standard guitar, probably a good part of the reasons that my guitar sits there unused. You had me curious, so I measured - 6.5" from tip of middle finger to wrist, 3" across the widest part of the palm.

I will admit, I'm steadily smoking as I wander the digital streets at 3-5 AM. :laughtwo: When I take the course I'll find out the particulars of dosing to treat insomnia and you can give it a try. I can see how you can develop a dosing protocol playing with the ratios of THC:CBD to induce and maintain sleep. It's all in the strain choice and the ratios. By the end of next week we'll know.

Yes... yes you will. I'm jealous.
I don't know if we do dream and just can't remember it when we wake, of if it actually suppresses dreams. I suspect we do dream, but just don't recall it when we wake.

Science demonstrates that it's a suppression of the dream state. Blame it on THC. However, I have great faith in the ability of the body to counteract anything you tell it to, and I've just begun programming dreams back into my life (Silva Mind Control graduate, we believe anything's possible). It's a fairly simple process and when I'm sure it's re-established REM and I'm recalling dreams again I'll write it up.

I let dreams slip during grief, but my dreams have always been prophetic and I've always been able to manipulate them as an active participant. Now that I'm safely past the minefields of grief it's time to program for inspiration and insight again.

Best dreams of my life (46 years) were had after taking 'T' yellowish pill thingy back in the 80s that was supposed to be concentrated THC. Had no effect on me for hours...went home to watch the Bruins game with my dad and had a beer...BAM!

Controlling your dreams is very possible and easily programmed, but first you have to believe it's possible. :battingeyelashes:

Yuk!!! I say that for every woman in the world. :battingeyelashes: I had a beau in college who took to chewing. For about a week. Until he missed sex enough to give it up. :laughtwo: He thanked me for that later. Lol!

I agree with the lack of dreams with normal cannabis use. I used to dream when I was drinking heavily but stopped drinking 11 years ago. Only time I dream now is with an opioid.

I only take those for acute pain.
