The Mars Hydro FC-E4800 Sponsored Grow Journal: 3 Classic Strains In Soil

Looking forward to it myself. But I'm also considering leaving it for a few weeks now, to get a few more inches in height on the sites. What would you do?

The shape you've got with the AG and NL is perfect, I feel like it's a good time to flip. Any gains from added height are probably minimal, especially if you're planning on stripping the lowers like some people do. And even if not, penetration always ends up kind of meh when you have a canopy filling the tent so anything below kind of suffers unless you're willing to harvest in stages. I feel like I vegged too long a couple times.

First of all I tried this soopercroppy thing all you cool cats do, on the blueberry, just for educational purposes. I am very heavy handed and I split the stem open and had plant juice all over my fingers, but it recovered instantly, much to my surprise
Haha  I can imagine you Paul scroppin the stems when suddenly it squirts the juices all over the fingers and youre like oh boy am I in trouble now.

But thats actually very well scropped. I bet she gonna keep that angle and make a hellish knot.

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a great time over the jollydays.

Right, I'm back and the plants are not dead. They were close to it, I totally neglected them as we had too much going on.
Saying that, they've been abused since I popped the seeds, as I am not the most caring planty grower.

Anyway, they must be behind in growth by at least 2 weeks due to my dumbstupidness, but they are happy and healthy now..

First of all I tried this soopercroppy thing all you cool cats do, on the blueberry, just for educational purposes. I am very heavy handed and I split the stem open and had plant juice all over my fingers, but it recovered instantly, much to my surprise
Here's a picture of the damage and the recovery

And here is the blueberry.

I've been training the Alcapulco gold And the Northern light around the circumference of the pot as I wanted this shape. Semi successful
Here's the AG

And here's the NL
DSC_1404.JPG

They are a fabulous colour and I seem to have the beasties under control with the honey traps on the stems. No more chewed leaves..

I'm going to be flipping the timers at the weekend as I'm sort of happy with how healthy they are. The only down side is the Moby Auto will suffer, but its already tiny as that got man handled from an early age. Here's the tiny Moby. I might get a joints worth out of her.

And to finish off, here's a picture of the @Mars Hydro FC-E4800.

I know I've said it before, but this thing puts out no heat at all. It's up at 75% now and if you squint up at the top right of the picture you will see the temps inside the tent. It's awesome:cheesygrinsmiley::adore:

That's it for today everyone. As always, I thank you all for stopping by..
See you all on your side

Paul
Everything looks great. Glad to see you back.

Sorry for the late reply mate. I haven't a spare 5 mins to get to my own thread today..
Anyway, Flip it is then. I trust your judgement, as I am always wrong

 I was like DOH!!!! I've killed another one
So that split or those many splits will actually heal up? Doesn't make any difference as its getting set on fire tomorrow anyway along with the auto. I will update later :(

Beasty Update

Hi Everyone, hope you are all nicely medicated.
At the start of the grow, when the AG and NL were a few weeks old, I noticed something munching on the leaves,
DSC_1311.JPG
but could i hek find what it was that was chewing them.
So, I used honey on every petiole and node
DSC_1318.JPG
to act as a sticky trap. The idea being to stop them migrating up the plant and it stopped the damage in its tracks. Even to this day, there is no further damage to either of them.

I did not treat the Blueberry or Moby Auto and when I had a look at them today, I found this
20220108_225342.jpg

Somethings munching on the un-honeyed ones. So I got the loop out and found a beasty. I managed to pick it off the leaf with a tooth pick dabbed in honey and I stuck it on a bit of vinyl so you can see it. It's a bit of a duff photo but you can see what it is under 60x
20220108_224457.jpg

Its a thrip.
So, because I don't want them spreading, I've took drastic action and bagged up the Moby and the Blueberry and threw them out.
A saying we use up north is "bugger that for a game of soldiers" I'm just not taking the risk or wasting my efforts trying to control them.
So, we are now down to two healthy plants
20220109_000132.jpg

I will Bee keeping a close eye on these, just incase.

So the conclusion is: I've killed two more plants but saved two with the magical powers of Bee juice. Also honey is a fully organic sticky trap, proven to work, as long as you don't have ants that is..

Thanks for looking in everyone, I always appreciate it..

Paul

I actually put a dab in between each node too and it's been successful.

Go the route @Krissi1982 uses - buy a bunch of ladybugs on amazon and release them into your tent. That’ll cure it in no time!

The wife actually had an allergic reaction to a lady bug bite and she hates them. So yeah, I will fill my tent with them, just to send her nuts

Oooh! My apologies! I didn't know that! Forgo the lady bugs then!!!

Awe damn pest .. I just had to do some cleaning to mine as well. But glad you still have two live and healthy.

I think you have some options, I'd hate to see you toss them if it's something you can fix.
You've spotted them early and seem to have handled them fairly well the last time. I'd be worried by not battling the problem head on again that they could just migrate to the plants you're keeping. Hope you figure it out.

Too bad you had to toss them out, but hopefully your thrip problem went with them, and the 2 survivors stay bug-free... they're looking damn good right now!
Welcome back, Paul!

It's cool, she's allergic to many things, like spending money. She goes all red in the face and dizzy if she has to get her purse out:laugh:
I guess getting her to buy the lady bugs for you is out of the question then?

Welcome back Squiggle! :Rasta:

So that split or those many splits will actually heal up?
Yuh. Broken branch/stem goes into ”defence mode” and starts to heal herself.

I’m scropping like daily the lower weak and flimsy stems and shoots. When they perk up again feels like it pushes whole lot new pistils. Almost like hacking :D

Hi Everyone, hope you are all nicely medicated.
Morning! Just finished the morning bowl of PP, and I’m medicated for sure :Rasta:

So, conclusion is: I've killed two more plants but saved two with the magical powers of Bee juice and honey is a fully organic sticky trap, proven to work, as long as you don't have ants that is..
Sorry to hear that. :|
Does the larvae have blackish head? Could be gnats if the soil being constantly wet.

Sticky traps helps if they mature and starts to fly around the tent. I’d be maybe more worried about the medium where the larvaes usually form.
I noticed you using some premade compost?
Do you have H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) available? I think it should work with the soil as well. Kills all the microbial life. Good and bad bacteria, larvaes and basicly all the organisms.

I’d give a flush or two depending the peroxide strength. And then to instil some good bacteria and some microbial life again one top product would be Hydroguard. HG designed for hydro growing, but as it contains BT Bacillus bacteria it works well with the soil.

I used Hydroguard for the Purple Punch in soil during the whole growth because had a bad muddy soil mix (mix of two different shitty market soils and Bio’s lite mix)

E: this could be also a nice addition for your roots if HG unavailable: CANNA RHIZOTONIC 250ml - growland
