The Love Gang - Multi Strain - First Grow

Looking great, I'm pulling up a chair to watch. I have some freebie Mama Mia's from Seedsman and watching yours will be fun until I have room to drop mine!
Thank you. You wont regret it I dont think. Could just be a strong pheno but if you've read the rest of my journal you'll know ive been very aggressive with her and she hasnt stunted once. The other babies from what I can tell so far didnt respond as quickly to their toppings (MM shows noticeable growth 24h after pretty much everything ive done). She took HEAVY defols early, 24h 600w hps light, breaks, tears, a heavy second top/fim and just put up a middle finger and kept moving lol. Look forward to seeing your babies.

Faaaack. Today has been a madness. Drove 80 miles managed to get NEARLY everything installed. Cut holes in plasterboard and get outtake linked. Had to jimmy rig ducting to fit carbon filters and my brand spanking 6" outlet fan (fucking massive thing) might even end up taking out the 4" inlet depending on temps in the 4x4, Plus side though I can move lights a teeeny bit closer. Left Just ONE hole to cut in plasterboard and ducting to put in for passive intake then were off to the races in the single tent. Thats tommorows headache though. Had a lot of work to do left the house at 11.30 and still managed to get to my daughters little dance show at school for 15.30 (unrelated to the forum but if you got a problem with a proud father then please go play on the motorway. My baby smashed it WHAT! Lol) . I would have liked to get everything finished today so I was a bit dissapointed but still did WELL.
No pics today. Had no time.
Mama mia did not like being dried out for the extra day opened the tent and she was droooooping. Thats ok though at least now I know where my optimal moisture is with her. Gave her a good drink nearly 3 litres id say about 2.5 fed over the space of time i was there working. She perked up by the time I left so were good. (I know this is my first real solo grow so I could be reading into it to much but I love this plant)
Now to my little beautiful quadline babies.
Came in to the room and they were fricking dancing!. LOVED the feeding 0 signs of burn, infact they even darkened up a bit. Every leaf was out flat and slightly praying. Somehow they look like theyve grown upwards a fair bit though. Could be cos I raised the light a touch or the fact I stripped them after the top but oh well Im not worried. Pics tommorow when things are less hectic. Peeeeaaacce.

Side note Im going to be working out what day Im on from when I put mama mias seed in the ground and labelling days like that now rather than wk5v day 4 etc. Cos Ive got girls in different stages its just to much farting about. I will throw these dates in there now and then but not all the time.

Yoooooooooo. Whats going on people.
Right all is now calm. Tent setup, mama mia moved. I have a 600 bulb on a switchable ballast at the moment its on 400 but it is a small space and Im wondering if its overkill? Ive got hold of the temp in there but still is it to much?. Its leaning slightly warmer than my perfect 25C but that was before i put the plant in there and only by a degree or 2 (celsius).
The babies look healthy but no real growth to speak of. Now theyre in the tent by themselves though they are focused into the middle in a little triangle and ive moved the light a bit closer. Now that I have that big fan in there though the temp has dropped. Even after removing the 4 inch inlet shes still down at 21-22. Ive put a little tube heater in there but as Ive put the light closer the babies will be under a nice temp.
They had a nice water and molasses. This is about the time I start increasing the amount of water I give the babies but that also means I water less frequently until they start getting thirstier. I shared about 1.25litres between the 3 girls.
today the MM had nothing but all got a little spray with water (im refraining from using to much now).
So does anyone think 400hps in that little space is a problem?
Didnt have time to get to in depth pics today as I was still farting about for quite a while but the mama mias canopy is looking goooood. I shall take a proper side pic tommorow and ill show proper shoot development on the babies. This was also after I sprayed so the leaves are a bit heavy but trust me they were nice n pointy when I went in.

In fact she may even need it. As soon as i feed her she darkens up, a day or two later she starts going light again. However I am currently lowering my ph so this could help (think I listened to some outdated advice)

Just subbed up. Your doing a great job.
Thanks bro appreciate it. Ive started doing some quadlining on my babies and i had a question (as your an advocate of good training) my shoots arent developing as quick as I thought and I dont know if im tripping but the stem seems to be growing upwards still. So Ive pinned the fan leaves down with some home made stakes. I think this should redistribute the hormones abit, what do you think?
Pics to come in my update.

Oioiiii. Day 45 in my grow (no longer going by stages as I have plants at different stages).
Babies are looking healthy but no real growth on the shoots and the plant seems to be growing upwards. So Ive pinned down the fan leaves on them to try and redistribute the hormones. Hopefully it works.
Mama mia seems to be loving her new environment but due to higher heat and faster rate of air exchange shes drinking more and has dried her pot out (couple leaves started drooping a little) I have hit her with another feed as I said I would. Im fairly confident it can take it. The canopy is looking nice but it could do with adefol underneath, Ill do this when I put the scrog up though.

All caught up - looking good here dude. They look happy and healthy.

Question, before i fully commit to this? Will the 3 in 5 gal pots be enough to fill out the 4x4 scrog or should I plant another seed now?
I can see 3 large plants filling that, with extend vegetation period if needed.

I agree with @PhobosAnomaly (coolest username ever) - 3 plants in 20L pots will fill that space easy - and if there is a gap you can always squeeze Mama back in the tent.

Thinking of increasing my feeding frequency. I think the MM can take it. At the mo im doing water-water&mollases-feed. So i was think of going water-feed-water&molasses-feed. Any thoughts?

I'm a noob but I followed @PurpleGunRack's advice, in my journal page3 - post #44 - and fed with every watering and I could not be more grateful. I've been using Biobizz Light-Mix though - so might be different for you using Biobizz All-Mix. I used Biobizz nutes at half published strength - because mine are autos and manufacturers publish their strengths too high IMHO.

Yer the bio bizz all mix is pretty loaded already so dont think thats feasible for me. The plant magic nutes though arent as rigid with their dosages, on their bottle it says use 2-4ml of grow per litre and .5-1 per litre of calmag ive just now got up to pretty much the low end of those dosages. I give my mama mia 1.5litres of water with 1.5ml of calmag and 3ml of grow. I go a tiny bit higher with the calmag as seedsman say in their description that mama mia really loves calmag.. it seems to be true as thats all I fed it with at first and she boomed over night although it does hold a portion of the N that should be in the grow formula cos theyr supposed to be used together. Im also using molasses every other plain watering and their evolution spray once a week for the veg phase. My babies ive obviously started at half that strength and they responded beautifully. 0 signs of burn so were all good

Ok so I have been assuming that the likes and kind words of encouragement rather than replys from reputable members when I make a suggestion as a basic "yes sounds like a plan". So with that being said I would like to thank you all for your encouragement and guidance so far. Glad I took the plunge and joined up.
Thank you 420 mag

(Will be scrogging mama mia today so a small update to come)

Alright! Finally had some time to read through your journal and catch up. First I want to say that you made a great choice making this journal public so you can get advice. You won’t find too much better knowledge than on these forums.

Now to the nitty gritty. I am not a fan of foliage feeding, especially since it’s your first grow. I’ve seen more good things come than bad for most growers. I want my plants getting everything they need through the roots and their development. If the plant is getting feedings from absorption through dollar feeding than the roots are not developing as fast as I like. I’m all about the roots in my grows. Bigger roots is bigger fruits.

You are in soil so when you do some trainings the plants will not bounce back as fast. I grow in coco (which is Hydro) and they bounce back pretty dang fast but when I top them and strip them, this will be slowest recovery point of the whole plant cycle. The plant is small and can’t take a beating as well as it can later on, but it’s essential to get the quadline a structure. Just be patient and they will bounce back. When they do they will start growing pretty quick. The reason I don’t strip and train at the same time is because it’s a lot for the little ones to handle. I realize it was necessity for you if you wanted to quadline but there is my logic for stripping, waiting a few days for them to respond back and then topping. Nothing you did was wrong but doing it all at once will increase recovery time a bit and that is what you are experiencing.

I like that you are trying to read your plants with their coloring and looking to increase feedings when they seem lighter in color. I always encourage all growers to learn to read their plants and also to lift the pots up to feel how light they are when they are dry and then water them and feel how heavy they are when fully watered. I never stop lifting my plants to tell if they need water. If they are constantly heavy then they are overwatered. I like to let them get light a bit as overwatering can be just as costly as underwatering.

A couple questions for you. Why the molasses in veg? Do you use any sort of root enhancers? Are you following feeding schedules based on what is on the nutrient bottles?

Honestly the plants look just fine. I think the little ones aren’t liking the foliar feeding or are being overwatered which likely accounts for some of the drooping and slow bounce back time.

Thank you Ase. Yer I see what you're saying, next round Ill be a bit more patient with it and do things properly. As its my first grow I get over excited lol. Yer Im following the recomended ratios but Im starting at about half strength and working my way up.
The mollases in veg from what Ive learnt is a natural root enhancer it feeds microbes already in your soil but Im realising that it probably would work better if i used something like great white with it aswell.
To be fair most of the pictures Ive posted have been after training and spraying so that would explain most of the droop on the babies (when I open the tent they are usually nice, flat and pointy. will take pics tommorow before training and spray) but yer I am cutting down on the spraying anyway.

Yeah save that molasses for flowering and get some Rapidstart or Great White. They are a bit spendy but worth every penny. Look forward to seeing them happy and perky in a pic! Just remember that patience is the best virtue a grower can have, especially a new grower. I’ve seen so many new growers end up killing their first grows by trying everything out all at once or even giving them too much love and attention.

Thank you for the words of wisdom. Im tapped out for now pretty much until the mama mia gets cropped and I still got soil and some flower nutes to get!. But yer Ill definitely be investing in some and be doing it the right way (on rootballs when transplanting and planting seed etc.). I reckon once Ive got off one semi decent crop my nerves will return to normal levels and ill be able to see a bit clearer. From the words of encouragement from you all though I cant be doing half bad.

Righty-ho. Day 46.
Scrog has been put in and mama has been nicely defoliated and trained through (some tops could do with a little bit more growth before training). Realised that I actually have a flappy window vent at the back of the tent that was velcrod shut so I opened her up and im defo not having heat problems now. All looks good. No nute burn but leaves are still a bit light.
Will remember to let go nicely dry before watering again.

The pinning of the fan leaves has indeed helped and theyve stopped growing upwards and stems have started to get a little fatter. Shoots have picked up a little bit aswell but Im going to take pics tommorow when I first go in tent rather than after ive trained and sprayed so they dont look so stressed lol. Gave another very weak feeding to them just to see how they do with it.

You're doing great dude - I've not got much experience but they look healthy - and very nice trained canopy on Mama Mia.

You also now have a 420 guru guiding you - with @Asesino85 you are in good hands.
