Daily Update: Perpetual Tent - Week 9

Running late today. I decided to allow myself the luxury of being completely and totally unrestricted for a day or so. No strict adherence to any schedules I didn't choose to be bound by and the freedom to just wander through my life in free flow. Too many years of being super vigilant, so why not enjoy the indulgence?

Yeah, I'm coming along very well, and thank you all for carrying me through this crisis. :hugs: It's been a long time, hasn't it? Yesterday left me with a greater sense of calm and purpose than I've felt in so long I can't even pinpoint it.

I took myself out to breakfast at my favorite riverside restaurant. Being the only customer on the veranda (seriously, the only one - who doesn't like their breakfast with the soft, cool breezes off the river?) with a clear view of the river slipping gently by while I took my own sweet time working through the meal and three cups of coffee. I spent the time singing at the top of my lungs (no inhibitions at all :laughtwo: - ever listen to Train do "Get To Me"? ) and working out the minor details of the upcoming grow cycle. Then a walk to and through the labyrinth, followed by a quick run through Lowe's for last minute supplies (chain) and back home many hours later. Sweet.

The Tiny Closet is now ready for business. :slide:

All I need now are a few more tiny pots sewn, but I can work on them while the cycle begins. The seedlings don't get transplanted for three weeks. More than enough time to get them done. I have two one gallon Geo Pots that I'm going to use for the Jamaican Dream and Carnival. I'm going to grow Carnival, in a big pot nonetheless!! :yahoo: Part of me can't believe this isn't a dream. :laughtwo: Not just Carnival, but Jamaican Dream too!! How did all this happen? Ok, no questioning, just accept and be grateful. :cheesygrinsmiley: Have I effectively communicated how incredibly stoked I am right now? There were moments over the past weeks when this seemed impossible to pull off.

Time for a stroll through the tent.

Let's start with Auto Destroyer, now at Day 57.

Auto Jock Horror x Auto Amnesia, Day 55.

image28213.jpg

Guys, is it possible I've missed the window on this one? We're still days away from her being dry enough for the first CAT drench and she's maturing so quickly it's astounding. Almost no new pistils at all. Any thoughts here?

The lovely Cheese Candy, Day 57. I swear, she reminds me of a cat, ready to pounce, and I can almost hear her purr. She's stacking the flowers and they're beginning to really frost up. :cheesygrinsmiley: Mmmmmmm, does she smell wonderful too.

Environmental monitoring shows everything sailing along smoothly.

image28221.jpg

One last glance before the zippers seal them off.

image28222.jpg

The only maintenance was watering the LOS no-till. I've taken to heart PeeJays thoughts on overdoing the amendments, and haven't added anything to this pot in over a week, so today I chose to top water about a liter, nice and slow to work in some of the top dressing. No water in the reservoirs today.

I pick up death certificates tomorrow. That's bound to be a sobering moment. It means my income stream can now begin to get processed, always a good thing. Then it's run all over town to drop off copies. I'll literally be traveling from one end of our little metropolis to the other, by bus. It will probably take me most of the day to get that done, so today is my Callanetics day, right after I finish this, even though I'm no longer anyone's trophy wife. *sigh* That was one of the sweetest things he ever called me, and he only started that about a year back. :battingeyelashes:  The irony, that after 34 years I should finally get the body back and he dies. Unfreakinbelievable. Ahh well, such is life. I'm enjoying seeing my bone structure again. Haven't seen the scapulae defined like this since high school. Cool.

But I ramble. Let's get on with our joyful day, shall we? Get out there and spread the joy around with me. The universe appreciates the help, and admit it, it makes your day too. :laughtwo: :green_heart:

:Namaste:

Maybe there is some magic I don't know about but I don't think there is a cheap way to do it effectively. Remember, that CO2 has to be in the tent/room for the plants. If you are running fans all day to keep temp's down, You will also pull all the CO2 out. IMO, A/C is a much better solution.

a/c is the way i want to go but used ones in the middle of summer are expensive. was gonna shut all fans down 2 times a day with only intake running no exhaust at all

Just watch those temps. Things can escalate quickly Bear.

Ha ha. I had to go and look. I don't think it is anything except a camera artifact. I think that picture was taken with a 10 year old panasonic 5 megapixel camera... It started doing strange things in it's old age. It's possible that I was wearing a fuzzy red onesie when I took the picture and it's lint... Wait I have never owned a fuzzy red onesie...

I took the liberty of lifting a couple of pictures from GT's journal of the carnival.

The stats:

Carnival Cut3 is dried and jarred and yielded 87 grams, 3.07 ounces over 136 days = 0.640 grams per day.

Carn3 - 136 days old - 65 days 12/12 - 55 days since pistils - brix 15/16

Geez Graytail, you had to rope her up? Ok. Callanetics, dinner, dissect that journal. NOW Susan!

I made that picture my wallpaper for my iPad lock screen. I believe I'll toggle back and forth between that one and this.

Gasp! Uhh.... That one always makes my heart stop. :laughtwo:

I figure motivation, you know? Kind of heart-stopping, but definitely motivating. :battingeyelashes:

Alright - to the mat!

Beautiful update Sue!!! Hey i saw one of your post the other day and im curious. Dont you decarb bud in the oven and then just eat them? Can you run me through the process and the temps? Im curious to try! How do they taste?!!? While growing I always just want to bite off one of my colas! =)

Hey Sue, how tall are your plants? Just curious for a similar run in my set up.

I haven't measured them lately, but they're pretty short, with the exception of JHxA, which may be over 14". Mine were stunted by numerous factors though CC. Ask Ziggy to get a more precise idea. I believe his run everywhere from just over a foot to over 2".

What are you limited to?

I'm not sure how tall they really are, but the 1 gallon geo pots are supposed to be 7x6"...that should leave around 20 ish inches. I think I may actually need smaller pots if i was to let the plants go with little to no training.

Sue, you've CD'd the Auto JH x Auto Amnesia already or no?

No Ziggy, I haven't, and she worries me. She looks like she'll finish before I can do it on schedule. It's due when she's dry next. I'm tempted to do one tomorrow. Can I get away with that?

So, not being familiar with Hi-Brix finer details, why is this an issue?

That's why Ziggy and I are using azalea pots or similarly sized pots. These pots hold a rediculously small volume of soil for what we're going to harvest. Talk about getting your value from resources!

A specialized pot for an unorthodox growing style. Effective, but unorthodox.

try it...i altered the feeding with small pots and 11/13 lighting; i had to :)...i just gave my 4 week old SWICK #4(Panama(+) Recharge, Roots!, SRP, Carbonized Limestone..didnt have any more EWC..need to get some thursday
SWICK #3 got CD'd the other day. Another one will follow after a dose of Transplant as scrubby mentioned the other day.

#2 is finishing in week or so...i might ut a plant or 2 before..one is finishing quite nicely but super early, IMO. its big too.,
Unknown strain. The ACE Mixed pack plants are doing well.. one is large, the other shorter...leaves are slightly discolored from the neighboring Blue OG plants(2) that got 2 OG drenches.

The 2 gallon squat geopots are 10.5" dameter and 5.5" tall. Thats about as short as a geopot gets.
Anything shorter than than is hard to water (very hard for me - who has sucked at watering.)

Certainly Hunter. :battingeyelashes: I like to pick out a bud about the size I would have chosen to roll a nice joint, if I were so inclined. Pop it into the oven, set at 225 F and bake for 30 minutes. Eat like candy. Coffee helps if you have difficulty. Dale always insisted on coffee with his, but I think it had as much to do with the fact that I make a delicious cup of coffee than anything else.

I suppose the taste is strain dependent, yet more motivation to pursue a growing paradigm that allows for intense terpene expression, eh? Really gross street stuff tastes like dirt, but still gets you righteously baked. I so prefer a tasty home-grown bud. Curing improves flavor. The texture can take some getting used to and they can be chewy, but I figure the longer I chew the more I extract at a stronger level. I can't prove that, but I've noticed a difference the longer I chewed.

Please report here after you try. Be prepared for a deep, toasty buzz. I think it feels "normal". :;):

I decarb everything I smoke now. I believe it hits more efficiently. I don't think it's just me. It also allows me to eat it anytime I get tempted. :laughtwo:
