The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

I just woke up in the recliner. Best I can guess I fell asleep about 90 minutes ago. Ah well. Time for to bed.

Goodnight.

Yeah..... Half an hour later and I'm still nodding off as I continue to wander the threads. Addicted, maybe? :laughtwo:

Let's try that again. "Susan, step away from the lighted screen!" Haha!

:hugs:

No PeeJay. None of them are on the SWICK right now. You missed the part about the drain covers I use as spacers to lift them off the perlite. I was trying to find a way to use the SWICK and still work wet/dry. They sit above the perlite right now.

The plan was to set them on the SWICK to finish. Any thoughts?

Headed out for my walk. Lately I've been taking 6 "cannabis fragment" hits (miss you PlanetJ) before I go out and I have to tell you, this Dark Devil Auto has me pooping and snapping. It's a struggle to keep typing and not get right out the door. I'm running on 2 1/2 hours sleep a day average. This should not be hitting me this hard.

Every morning I expect it to be different. It has been incredibly consistent all week long.

I need someone else to grow this strain and report on it. I make two who have experienced the extreme buzz. Any one else out there lurking who has harvested one and had the same speedy effect? I cannot be the only one. I refuse to believe I am that special.

Ok. I REALLY gotta go. Think about it. We need data.

Smoke Update - The Walk

I love this strain. I've already had one magnificent hallucinogenic episode after hitting the streets (more on that later) and now I had a second experience that was more of a total loss of inhibition.

I'm bouncing along, holding back the sprint that keeps fighting to get out, and I step under the busy bridge as Adele comes on doing "Make You Feel My Love". Suddenly I stopped, (I'm in the empty parking lot of businesses that don't open for hours - completely alone here)closed my eyes and started doing the harmony. Full out. Clear tones. Strong intonation. God guys, I don't think I've ever sung that strongly. Ever.

I had to share. I knew you'd all understand the profound effect that had on me.

This Dark Devil Auto was exactly what I needed at this point in my life. Interesting how the plants will do that for you, eh?

Ok. Really gotta move. The legs are bouncing. :laughtwo:

And guys? It's really nice to have friends to share this with.

I'd like to see flushed and no SWICK compared to SWICK.

My thoughts on the flush are that the SWICK, inhibits normal drench metabolism. The only moisture the upper root zone ever gets is drench. The plant pulls almost all it's water from the nutrient poor SWICK water table. There is no plain water ever in the top of the root zone. Water is the universall solvent, after all, and that wet dry cycle is key in those first few inches of root zone. The lack of moisture up top leads to drench accumulation. There is fear associated with any runoff into the SWICK because it will lead to undesirable aerobic growth in the SWICK tray - compounding the build up, contributing to lock out and early necrosis.

The way to test the theory is to flush and remove one of the three kit plants that has been in the SWICK.

But yeah Doc, the kit works so well a person can not go wrong following your protocol to the letter.

I couldn't have put it any more clearly PJ. We gotta hang out more.

If done right---like in the way I illustrate in the directions and on my threads---you'll see nothing but fine root hairs. Put a bit down the top and the rest in the saucer and the container is like a giant sponge, soaking up the drenches and water....not getting too wet, creating miles and miles of tiny, colonized root hairs that take up nutrients.

Flush, let it dry out, score the roots, transplant into larger container. That's the recipe for success.

One day I'll do some kit plants, Doc. For now it's all about sensible whole food nutrition in a prudent soil mix and big pots. Even with very low humidity and hot weather the plants are pushing 4' and only get watered every 5-6 days. They're booming. Been away from home since monday and I'm not even worried about them.

This I can do, no problem.

I'd like to see Tranplant into at least 7 gallons, which is what my gear is designed to do. But hey! This was a special grow in many, many ways and taking it all into consideration it's quite commendable what has happened with the plants so far.

The timing of your new hobby couldn't be better Sue!

I plan to take a 7 gallon pot of kit soil and sit it where the other no-till was. The kit deserves that and I want to grow one that size. My primary intention is to make Ziggy's system work with my own flair, but looking at all those beautiful kit plants in the other journals has me longing for something more. I plan to run my next Dark Devil Auto in that pot. That way I get to contrast the buzz between the soils. Considering what this strain did in LOS, the idea of growing one with the kit gets me really excited. :laughtwo: :slide:

How nice that I can please both of you. It's the least I can do, considering the influence you've each had on me in the past year. :battingeyelashes:

Thank you Doc, for being so understanding. I know I've exasperated you. Don't worry, I'll redeem myself.

Doc, it hadn't occurred to me to go ahead and start that Kit 7 gal now, but why not? I'll put Auto Destroyer into it today. I stopped for breakfast after my walk. I'll put that on my list of chores.

I figured out what I wanted for the CFLs and picked up the rest of my supplies after my walk, and the other LED panel arrives today. Feeling clear-headed and raring to go.

Let the fun begin. :laughtwo: :green_heart:

Innovation is fun and all and Ziggy is doing well. But if I was a kit newbie I would try to emulate a traditionalist with an amazing track record who consistantly pumps out amazing produce from a 4x4 space like clowns pouring out of a minature VW Beetle. Graytail?

Swick ,smick! Just use real pots Sue. I know, i know....mornin girl!:circle-of-love:

:laughtwo: I find it sweet that it drives you crazy that I insist on being so unconventional. Get used to it Duggqn. :kisstwo:

Ziggy is harvesting some of the most interesting variety on this site and I believe is smoking better cannabis than most reading this right now. He's doing that consistently. Graytail.... Yeah. Yeah. Silly me. I'm going to try to do it both ways. Been thinking my tiny closet would make a sweet veg space for a traditional approach and I 'll have that working HB pot to drop into when it's time to flip.

This is my therapy. I'll be very serious about it. I intend to heal quickly. My life and my time are my own in a way most others don't have. I intend to exploit that and this is but one area that will benefit from that drive I have to be productive and strive for excellence.

Just sit back and watch. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Well guys, this was interesting breakfast conversation. Time to get myself home and get busy.

PeeJay, we need to take this SWICK conversation to the thread. Any chance I could get you to repost your thoughts there? I'd like to get the discussion going.
