Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto - Day
She's asking to be harvested now. My plan is for Thursday morning. The first thing I spotted was new pistils popping out.
It's like she's teasing me. I can't do anything about it until Wednesday at the earliest anyway. Too much going on right now. On Wednesday we'll re-evaluate.
Perpetual Garden: Week 5
The really exciting news is that today drenches began for the HB kit pots. As posted earlier, Auto Destroyer, JH x Amnesia, and the Bag Seed all graduated to veg status. The African Buzz and Super Lemon Haze x Blue Satellite 2.2 both need one more node to get there. That should happen this week.
Let's wander through the garden.
First, a casual look in.
Auto Kalashnikova: Day 22 and struggling. I've lost patience with this one, but still can't pull her up. Instead, I set up a small SWICK for her and stuck her out on the balcony in the full sun. I will carefully watch over her and see what she wants to do. When I checked on her after my nap she was none too happy, but I assured her things could turn around nicely. That or she'll die. We'll see.
Auto Jock Horror x Auto Amnesia: Day 24
Auto Destroyer: Day 26
New Year's Bag Seed: Day 26
African Buzz: Day 25
Super Lemon Haze x Blue Satellite 2.2: Day 24
Cheese Candy: Day 26 She's massive compared to the rest of the class. Her stem is easily twice the girth of the others and her leaves are almost twice as big too.
This shot gives you a better sense of the size difference between the small pots and the Cheese Candy growing with the benefit of all that soil volume and established soil food web. Maybe I should consider going to one gallon Geo Pots for the SWICK trays.
A last glance before closing it up. I know the environmental controls are the step from casual to serious growing, but it have to say I miss my wide open auto-driven Tiny Closet, which was always accessible. Not enough to go back to that, but I miss casually walking over to have a seat and watch them grow. Know what I mean?
All three drenched pots are back on the SWICK from now on. The roots coming out of the bottoms of these three is impressive. Speaking of roots and the SWICK: Ziggy touched on an important point when using these small pots. When you have a decent volume of soil the roots that make it into the perlite are primarily water-seeking roots. Not so much with our approach. One must be alert that when working with tiny pots the roots that exit into the perlite will be both nutrient and water seeking. That will make a difference if you have to move a pot and roots get damaged. Tread carefully.
Living on the edge here and pushing the envelope. It's important to keep that in mind at all times. What I'm attempting here breaks so many established rules. I'm the type of personality that thrives on risk and exploration, so this feels like a good fit for me. Anyone out there thinking they might want to follow in our footsteps needs to consider carefully. Personally, I find it exhilarating!
I hope everyone had a lovely day, or is in the process of having one. Spread that joy about as you go. You've all been so generous in sharing it with me and I so appreciate it.
I'm going to see what I can find to eat. I forgot I have no food on hand. I'm pretty sure there's a Greek yogurt and some graham crackers out there, so I should be fine. Buying food for kitchen stocks became futile. I've thrown away so much bad food because I wasn't eating here at all. (Sigh) That will change, and I'm not going to starve, by any means, although I just went and checked and I'm now down to 182 lbs, which means I dropped another 8 pounds. Geez. Wasn't expecting that. It explains why people keep asking me if I'm ok.
Alright guys, I'll see you around the threads until I get back to sleep mode. Thanks for stopping by.
