The Jerky Box Project: OG Kush & Haze 2.0

Knocking it out of the park this year Smeegs ! The garden is beautiful. Should keep you in meds for awhile. Already looking forward to your indoor run. Coco For Cannabis - Coco Grow Guide - Growing marijuana in coco coir Here is a link for coco i got from Newty awhile back. Been transitioning over to hempy buckets and it is even easier than coco and no fungus gnats to boot.

ive been looking everywhere for a place with some solid information on coco coir, so thank you for the link, my main question was answered right on the front page.

Well back for another update ladies and gents as I've seem to have lost the knack of journaling for some daft reason only known to myself I suppose....haha

Like 1 update when I start as a seed and that's it till they grown and gone harvested ....haha

Anyway so here's what I remember leaving with....

I had quite a run of bad luck with most of the seeds I bought local and international due to dampening and I became quite disheartened cause no one likes to lose money so I went back to good old bagseed which I've kept from flowers I've enjoyed...lol

So up above its a mix of shiva shanti which I worked backwards from to get the girls I have now, the seeds were open pollinated so I only have 2 which represent the original shiva shanti in smell, look and description from googling..

Then it's a mix of clones I took when I had those big clunky pallet boxes I started mid winter but are now gone...

Jack of Spades
Grannys Balls

And a Candyland and Gorilla Bomb from seed....

This is 1 of 2 Shivas.

No.2 below.

They both are starting to smell a treat now as I catch a sweet smell when I come walking down to the garden from the house....

Candyland and her split stem..

She started out as a quad but got out of hand and unruly so I did a makeshift scrog net to get individual shoots out and up and place a decent scrog net above those once they established themselves for a more even top than she is now..

And where all those girls are now....lol

I am jealous of your set up smeegs! Seeing as youre close to the equator when do your girls start flowering?

They shivas switched from 18 Jan already mr.Budkins and I see all the sativa girls have started switching in the last week or so with my Candyland being the lady to join the party with preflowers yesterday...

Nervous but not so nervous with coco I am but I've picked up thrips which I'm not happy about so going to zap em today... Thanks for stopping in...

Those shivas though... sexy mate

Those Shivas are something else I must say, can smell them coming a way off already...
My pollen collection on the shiva male flopped as I left the pollen pods in the container to ripen properly with those that had burst but with the heat and humidity it went mouldy overnight sadly, so I'll be running more shiva when I have my indoor setup with an adjacent brooding area....lol

Ahhhh thats deadly man! Bad luck mate. Next time rather than putting a lid on it cover it with some cloth like a tshirt or something so it can still breath and theres not an anaerobic environment :)

Dunno if i heard this right but cos you're near the equator dont plants flower nearly all year round? Could be very misinformed or ive heard it wrong lol

We aren't that close to it and the end of season here is June. But you can grow through winter, your plants just flower early so they dont get very big. Near the coast line you can get 2 runs in if you aren't growing heavy sativas during season. We have great weather for growing

Hi Smeegol. Your garden looks awesome Bro. Just had a chance to catch up on this journal.
I also have to get cupboards sorted out. We are around 14 hours daylight at present moving into winter light cycle.
I think in mid winter we end up with about 10 hours daylight or so, and then there is the temp drop. I'm on the coast so it's not too drastic.
What is the latest verdict on your back and your meds, are they helping?
Was that you doing rugby tackles on the guy who broke in?
Crazy!!!!!!!

Morning mr.Brain most kind of you to visit my humble garden brother and it was me who performed a rugby tackle ( stupid Smeegs ) as that laid me low for a week with a helluva sore left side of the body...lol
Realised my body ain't that young anymore.

I've had 3 backops in the last 5 years and trying to avoid a 4th one, have good weeks and crappy weeks and actually wonder if growing my meds is ever going to come to fruition but preserverence the key as I've wanted to quit a cpl times but docs meds aren't kosher anymore...

So which part of the coast you from if I may ask....???

Hi Smeegol and all.

I think i did answer somewhere as to where I am from. Between Port Alfred and Port St John's. on the coast.
A temperate climate. can almost grow all year round. Just mid winter is a bit hectic for the plants.
Also we have to choose the strain coming out of winter as they will grow a total of around 5 to 6 months if planted in September. Unless they are auto's of course

:peace:

Apologies as I asked over on your journal I believe stupid stoner memory...lol

Evening folks so it's been a really awsome day, nice cool weather after a sweltering day yesterday the girls enjoyed the rain and looked real good this morning....

I've been really fortunate outdoors so far haven't had any of the usual pests luckily only had to pluck off the odd caterpillar that's been observed, the bees that live in the yard have certainly enjoyed the garden this year....

All my girls are officially in flower now it's to get them over the finish line without any casualties hopefully....haha

And welcome to another update old friends and new.... :snowboating:

So to recap on what's in the garden ladies and gents....

5x Shiva Shanti ( 2 indica, 2 hybrids, 1x sativa variant )
3x Jack of Spades clones
1x Candyland ( quad and messy Scrog )
4x Grannys Balls ( local bred sativa strain )
2x #StitchedUpKush ( KushVanStitch X Kush ) auto

The Shiva Shantis have impressed the most out of all the girls, the indica and 2 hybrids are going to be my special ones and the smoke I'm most excited to try....lol
The sativa version is what i expect of our local sativa landrace as these seeds were from an outdoor grow.

The Shiva Sisters..

1739588
1739595
1739594

I forgot to take a pic of the main cola, and when I tell you I was actually giddy with excitement when I felt how dense that main cola is....lol, it's quite a feeling when you realize the love and hard work is paying off.....

The lower branches all vary in length but the buds are just as dense so I'm super chuffed, they went into the ground last week of November and probably have another 4-5 weeks to go but that is purely guessing at the moment...

Shiva Hybrids.

1739603

This Shiva leans more to the indica parentage in the genetic although you can see the sativa influence in her but he bud structure and compactness is more indica all her buds are starting to thicken up nicely including the main cola.. But I noticed this evening she has a very fruity smell to her unlike the previous girl who does smell of garlic that lingers after you touched it with your fingers....

Shiva Hybrid 2.

1739602

Shiva #3 has more sativa influence in the Linder bud formation and leaves, I haven't quite smelt her yet as lots of fragrances going around...rather pleasant I have to admit...lol

Another Shiva..

1739604

I have to admit it's only been in the last 3-4 days now that she's started developing and becoming a bit of looker so I'm going to be watching her carefully as she develops more, she's also my only pink pistoles girl of the season which I believe is a trait that's not passed on through genetics but more the individual trait of that plant. She has broader leaves out of all the hybrids if I remember correctly....

Shiva The Sativa..

1739622

This is the only Shiva that has 95-100% sativa parentage, her structure is developing nicely although I'm quite intrigued as to what to expect from the smoke...haha

Candy land...

She started out in a 20lt pot and I was training her as you would a quadline, she started getting root bound in the pot and being so I transplanted her into the ground. I lost control of the quadline approach as she she got out of hand very quickly so I attempted a wacky Scrog net which has worked to control the growth spurt as she's the last girl to hit the flowering stretch.

I took a cpl pics from ground level and above to hopefully give you an idea of what she looks, she covers bout a 1m square but I don't whether to put another Scrog on top or if I've left it too late.....????

1739625
1739624

Can I crop the taller arms do think guys to bring it level the rest of canopy and put a last Scrog over or should I rather crop the lankier buds.....????

I'm about 1 pic away from running out of space so join me again in the next post .....:snowboating:

Hey Smeegs. that looks awesome. By the time harvesting comes some of those gonna be monsters.
hobbiting along nicely. in the background of one of the pics I saw some smaller plants.
Man I wish I had the space but I also have landlord issues, so I have to try to hide the grows in the greenhouse.
My Buddha Cheese is starting to give off quite a smell as well. Fortunately nobody gets to close to my stuff because all are a little afraid of my Alsatian cross Husky. He's a beaut and great nature but protects the piece of dirt we are on to the teeth.
How long does the plant you want to crop still have in flowering. buds look pretty new so you may still have a chance I think. maybe some wisdom from more experienced guys.
Still, a great grow!!!!!!!
:adore:
