The Hexapus's Garden

The res ph was 5.7 and 670 ppm yesterday- exactly the same as when I filled it ten days earlier. It's so stable it's scary- makes me have to play god and decide what ph is 'perfect'. And I realize there isn't really one perfect ph level. I don't know if it swings a bit in the root zone or not.
I'll give them a good flush today- though they do get a good runoff when fed.

I mentioned it partly because it's the two perlite ones that show the darkest green. The other ones in coco and rockwool look reasonably normal. I thought maybe there is something about the hempy reservoir bottoms on the perlite containers that's making a difference. Or it could be just coincidence.

I think I will drill normal drainage holes in the one that's worst affected and see if it makes a difference. I may up them to 4 waterings a day as well.

If the drainage holes don't work a small catch pan can be added to wick water, just my 2 cents, go for it, your gut feeling always seems to be
your best move. So sorry your having so much trouble again, my sympathies Sir Al....

That outdoor Malawi is spectacular my friend! Id love to do an outdoor scrog.. Just gotta decide which plant I wanna do it with.. Thinkin the Great White Shark or Black Destroyer would be a good option. they claim to be heavy yielders. :thumb:

No trouble really. I didn't even expect those plants to be alive by now. I think all they needed was a flush. Pretty fun flushing those solo cups!

Just popping in for a minute before bed. I'm overjoyed to see all of you here, old and new. I'll soon pull my head out of my... I mean I will be sure to make sure to take time and get back here ASAP to actually reply properly. I was in messing around with the plants till 3 and it's been a long day. Here is a shot of my flowering Mama Thai in a 15 gallon pot, clogging up my veg room.

These new bulbs I got apparently have a different spectrum and the hps sunglasses I've been using as a camera filter this whole time - they don't work anymore. Pics come out a strange pinkish color, so the veg room or daylight it is for photos, until I find a better option.
This is the Mama Thai I trained with the 'dog fence technique' a la Stage's bubblegum. She took a beating from a wandering ph tester, early in flower. Now she's in the throes of pre harvest starvation. Might be a week before I have time to chop her. Nice to have unscrogged plants around.
The next time I do a dog fence one it will be better. I know it drives Grizzwald crazy seeing all these problems and stuff.
I did backbuilding on over half of the buds on this plant. Basically, the pointy ones didn't get it and the rounded, squatter looking ones did. They backbuilt ones tend to shoot up a bunch of foxtails and get quite lumpy. Like the one that's directly in the light.
I'd better get to sleep before 4:20 rolls around and I feel compelled to smoke another one.
G'nite friends ❤️

and you're sure you got the right bulb? Kinda worrisome.

So very nice! Can you grab a couple of comparison photos of the backbuilding buds?

It's called a Hortilux - 'Super Hps'. I'll read the fine print on the end of the bulb when I get a chance. It definitely worried me too -kills the old sunglasses filter trick- which was all that made my last journal function. So until I find some different filter or camera options, or grow to like pinkish orangish photos I'm SOL for the photography in there. But when I saw 'Super Hps' I think I thought
'Duh.. Hps... Super...' What's not to understand?

I will try to get some backbuilding photos. May not be till next week. I may just be working in the lights off there today and then running off again.
If you look at the Mama Thai picture- look at the back right corner. Going from right to left- the first three buds along the back side are not backbuilt. The ones left of that with the foxtails are. This makes it look like the backbuilt ones are way bigger- which isn't always true. I'll get you photos -probably when I drag it out to harvest it.

Hey Weasel, didn't see the new journal till now but I am jumping in. Stage will be stoked to see his Dogfence tech in action.

Nice to see you here Shiggs. It's always nice to find a high-brixer who isn't too important to hang out with mortals ;)
The Dogfence tech works great! :thumb: It's great to be able to pick that plant up and shuffle it around. I can do that with my individuals scrogs too, but it's more tricky. I never would have squeezed that one through the veg room door if it was in a screen. And the branches and buds bob and bounce around in a pleasant sort of way. ;)

Once again I follow Tead to a new journal! May I hang out here a bit? Do I really have to protect my nuts?

And dang those buds and that monster Malawi screen back a page! :thedoubletake:

Bob ;)
Thanks Dr Bob! Welcome. Tead really gets around.
There is a squirrel, who may or may not be mad. He's clattering around in my roof next to my bed as I type. He has been acting a bit weirder than usual lately -comes really close to me and stares at me with a penetrating look while making strange noises. Usually 'may or may not be mad' pretty much qualifies as 'mad' to me. As for your nuts, well- nothing to worry about there
since you're a doctor. Just bring a needle and thread. And maybe a ziplock bag just in case.

Me too dr bob im tagging along .. ive never seen a hexapus very cool .. Mr weaselcracker whats your next move with the n tox . Ive just had a very similar thing occur?

:thumb: Hi rhetorrikz. As of last week when I mixed up the slops- I replaced most of the bloom nutrient in the mix with the bloom booster I have. The flowering nutrient I've been using is Botanicare- power flower. I've been using it for a couple years.
NPK ratio is 2-2-5 which seems, now that I look at it, kind of a weird ratio.
I never saw N toxicity before- though I noticed the Malawis were looking a little too green in flowering last time.
Anyway- last time I mixed the res I used mostly Botanicare hydroplex instead of the PF. The NPK ratio of that is 0-10-6
I also reduced the CalMag because it contains N. I'm pretty sure that's a mistake because some of these ants are in coco- so I've upped it to normal again now.
I'll have to shop around for some different flowering nutes I think. In particular the sativas don't like as much N.
The N problem is mainly with the white widow solo cup. My remix seems to have stopped the spread of the problem.
I honestly don't know what caused it to have N tox. But every time I've tried to grow this white widow it has caused me nothing but problems.

yup. flowers like that will gain you thousands of plague ridden zombie like followers chanting..

"HEXAPUS.. HEXAPUS"

:adore:

That sounds truly truly horrific El. Gypsy, but I'm just not that much of a people person I guess... Perhaps I can send them off to vote in the US elections instead?

I'm subbed up Weasel! I have some catching up to do. There is so much useful information her and your other journal. Plus, your plants are freakin beautiful!!! Can't wait to catch up

Why thank you very much NB4X4G. I hope you stick around.

Unfortunately it wasn't really an outdoor plant Stihl. I so much wish I could grow outdoors here. The Malawi was just outdoors for a little while to try and get some pictures in the daylight. I'm pretty far north and it's rainy and cold. I may plant a plant or two just for fun- but usually mold sets in by the time they get far into flowering. I'll have to live vicariously through your outdoor grow I guess.

Hexapus is definitely better than Nannerpuss. Do NOT under any circumstances Google nannerpuss and watch all the videos of the banana with octopus legs on a pancake with an eye that falls off. And definitely don't watch the Nannerpuss remix. And while your at it stay away from the badger phone videos.

This is actually my first High Brix grow. I am pretty impressed and in the process of a switchover. So still doing Chem nutes in my hunger games grow. And I am surprised at how similar they look but the High Brix plants are just a bit better with more crystals per unit area.

Me... I am just a weedie. High Brix, Chem, liquid organics,LOS, just let me smoke the good stuff. You hand me a bowl and I will hit it. What I will say is that the DocBud kit is pretty damn easy. The biggest thing is not bothering to pH. Hate that with my Chem nutes (pH5.8). So I am spending more of that quick nightly grow check examining plants and not dreading making up a few buckets of nutes. It feels more fun.
Like last night. Everyone has experienced this I am sure. You go in to the garden just to check things over. You have had a few beers and bong hits and just want to make sure the ladies are good to go, then return to dulling your consciousness properly. Then you notice. The soils a bit dry on top. Feel the weight of the plants. Damnit! You thought it was just yesterday you watered but it was actually a few days ago. With my Chem regimen it's such a pain for me! When it happens with the HB plants I just fill a bucket of two, drop in plop of drench and 2.5ml tea mix and pour.
