The Hexapus's Garden

Here's what I came up with. I was inspired by the germination cups Cannabelle taught me about.

I'll probably line the basin with landscape cloth. I have some around here somewhere. The pot will fit snug almost to the bottom of the basin, which will be filled with perlite. The larger basin should be better for the big plants I'm hoping to grow.

This is what happens when I make a pot of coffee at ten at night. :laughtwo: Add that to the recently-harvested Dark Devil Auto I'm feasting on and sleep stands no chance at all. Lol!

Ha ha. Having some good times with the dark devil bonanza hey Sue.
Cool pots! You've got me thinking here but I don't know if I can articulate whatever it is yet. Possibilities here. Maybe I can put something together in the next week if I stumble across the ingredients.
I wonder what Tead will have to say about this and the 'open res'/root rot factor. It's not something I've had happen yet, but I would never be one to be surprised by disasters.

I plan to darken the outside of the reservoir, or line it with the landscape cloth, which will also be on the surface to keep light from there. It feels like a good idea. It'll be fun to see if it pans out. I have a Carnival clone hankering for this hempy pot. She'll be planted in here tomorrow.

Edit: instead of lining the basin I can wrap it all up in the landscape cloth. Keeps the cloth clean and I can secure it with clothes pins, one of my favorite gardening tools. :battingeyelashes:

Voilà!

That pot is gonna be intresting. You do have it sitting in a res of some sort right? Will it be a top fed pot or bottom feed? Sorry for all the questions lol i just would have some concerns myself. What i would worry about (keep in mind its all speculation) is that if its gonna be top fed the roots might eventually clog that screen and it wouldn't really be a hempy at that point due to the lack of the little res and then would need to be bottom fed. Don't mean to be a downer im just a little hesitant for you. I would like to see what tead thinks though since he would know better then me

Something very fun about this hydro business. Maybe because you get to control the various factors more than you do with the soil type grows.

I just went and put Mama Thai Low into the flowering room. I'm very impressed with how vigorous and healthy this plant is on low ph. I transplanted her into a ten gallon pot a few days ago and she's already shot up and is beginning to make it look small. Couldn't get pictures to do her justice but wtf.

Pineapple Chunk scrog two or three weeks into flowering.

Ya know.... while I'm not a fan of the open res for all the reasons you've already spoke of, I see it working well in the real world, so I'll shut my face on the issue. I'm not sure I'm sold enough on the idea to kick those tires yet, but I really appreciate diversions and derivatives like this. If we don't test our ideas, we never really know. I can't draw outside of every line after all.

Fingers 'and' toes in the pic weaseley, good job,, geez yer plants just shine friend,, makes me so want to grow a biggie,, but, no can do, not indoors, or out, not here,, needs me a big Ole island off the west coast, huge humidity and a tonno trees to hide my great big tree plant,, that's the ticket,,

Yer p purple is stunning, so worthy,, best kearma sent yer way friend,, enjoy yer bounty, well deserved again,, cheers weaseley,, Oh, btw, enjoying some more weaselhead hash tonight, the missis and i,, she loves it,,

Thanks Nivek! :thanks:
Maybe sometime give me some info on how you make that hash- in terms of refining the time you leave it sit. I haven't made it that way much since I got the bubble bags- but keep meaning to do some tests with it. I used to usually leave it overnight. If I left it longer I would get more crap settling to the bottom but that last bit wouldn't really be hash anymore. There must be a prime window of time in which to syphon off the water.
I also did one test where I ran an equal amount of hash -through a bubble bag and the other amount I just let it settle in the jar without the bubble bag. I got slightly more from the settling technique but in that case I left it a little bit too long. I wonder if the bubble bags remove more hash than the WH method? I suspect it's all about the same quality and amount of hash if you do it just right.
All the best- have to run- I'm way out in in the bush up a mountain somewhere and it's getting dark. Oh the wonders of technology...

3.2 grams this time, weaselhead hash, I would never have imagined that one day I could and would make hash, hilarious, actually, and oil even,, just did my third batch, this one simply marvelous, I was just playing with the oil, the second batch, so oily thick, not tar thick, oil thick, so beautiful this stuff,,

The hash,, i seem to have found letting it settle about three hours seems to get most of it,, i have left overnight, and i have also drained off the liquid after three hours and kept that liquid overnight to see if anything else settles, nothing really seems to,, seems to me about three hours gets 95 percent or better

My sugar leaf supply is small and sporatic, so this system works perfectly for me

Purity of the hash is not perfect, a bitto green matter gets in there, but whats a bitto green matter between buds,, haha

I froze the sugar leaf first this time, dunno if it helped but I did it, ha

I have a little bit of mamathai/thaistick suger leaf saved up for a rainy day,, as you know those plants have next to no sugar leaves, so i don't have much, will be a tiny ball of hash, but special none the less, easily the best weed I grow,,

Oh, btw, the lemon skunk seeds gifted me, possibly from nanners it said, so,, they will be females? Correct?,, trying that strain now

Lovin that blueberry,, have a dandy flowering now, one harvested a few weeks ago,, two more growing in the veg room,, that is my fav smelling plant so far,, smell is big for me cuz I smoke so much that potency is or potency variances are not so obvious,, but smell, me nose works just fine

I had a jack herer flowering recently that I chucked during my recent critter extermination project,, that jack smelt phenomenal, halfway through flower,, i have a jack in flower now, cant wait for the smell

Cheers friend, loved the chat

nivek, I'm so pleased that oil production is going so smoothly for you. You'll have to treat us to some pictures of this fine oil you speak of in the study hall, if you'd be so kind. :battingeyelashes:

Nivek, I grew the alleged Lemon Skunk in my solo cup grow. It never smelt like lemon, smelt mostly like crap. It did produce a few nanners near the end, and I think nanners are what created the seed to begin with, since I only ever had the one LS breeder seed in the beginning. I just couldn't remember how I ended up with a whole bag of LS seeds in the freezer - but, must have been the nanners.

Re the Blueberry- That wonderful blueberry smell never seemed to survive the curing process for me, till I recently opened a jar that was curing for nine months, and found that it's coming back again. :thumb:

Weaselcracker,
I cant believe I have been away from your yard this long.:cheertwo:
So glad I saw these comments.
I know these are from months ago but if I was an inspiration, thank you Wheeze!:Namaste:

Kinda hard to believe I'm in your garden and not seeing the fine carpentry scrod frames you build.

Now I gotta go look up the dog fence training :lot-o-toke:

Captain that was the plant that won the last plant of the year contest. His journal is a bit short on details- but basically, he plunked a scrog screen on it during late veg and early flowering, then removed it after the stretch. He used what he called a dog fence- which appears to be one of those adjustable-width baby gate things you'd use to block off an entrance way. I used a light piece of wire mesh fencing with 4" holes- just put it on during early flowering - suspended by chains. I'd like to try it on a bigger plant and just have one plant under the 600W. Just have to figure out how I would have room to veg that.

Nivek I'll have to go and take a second look at your allegedly skinny plant.
My solo cups don't have any particularly wonderful smell. I thought maybe I would detect a nice lemon smell from the so called lemon skunk. One smells kind of like gasoline, the other one more like...shit. Oh well... That may change.
What's happening with your journal? Not enough pent up blather?

needs me a big Ole island off the west coast, huge humidity and a tonno trees to hide my great big tree plant,, that's the ticket,,

I'll take the next island over!
Been havin that dream forever. A lofty goal no doubt, but we all needs dreams after all and every now and then they come true.

Sad to say, at the rate the logging companies are going around here now, you're more likely to be planting amongst big stumps :( We're fighting it but most days it feels as impossible as trying to stop the sun from rising in the east.
