Can someone explain " microplane"?

When you take the hash and scrape over a microplane to help dry it out, ask your wife what it looks like, kitchen tool to scrape spices, peels.
I'm gonna leave that one alone lmao......plus I do all the cooking. Once in perspective I understand the item, but how? Wouldn't it make your product fall apart? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, I did take the advice of another member earlier and put my kief in a parchment paper envelope underneath the sole of my shoe and ultimately it got pressed LOL..... Why would I break it apart again at that point..... Or is it Beyond microplaning at that stage?

Ultimately, I think I have missed a step in the middle of the process.

Got some more hash made. I didn't really get a big yield, I used about 42 grams of trim, but I only did one run. I didn't really expect it to be high quality, so I just used the drill attachment and agitated it until it was nice and frothy. Afterwards I put it on the pressing screen, dabbed the moisture out a little bit, and left it in the freezer for a bit--I don't know if that's really as important for sieving as much as micro-planing though, because it seems like it didn't really sieve out very easily when it came out of the freezer, but then got easier as it warmed up. Finally I used the grindhouse press I got off of Amazon to press it into coins. I only got like 1.3 grams entirely sooo I was way off of 10%, but maybe it's because it was trim?

I think I probably could have done another run with it because I used the trim afterward to make some cannabutter and it came out pretty potent.

Looks like you have dog or a cat at your house fertilizer :) Nice hash though ;)
Another run might have been a good idea, it also depends on how frosty the trim is, once got 1g dry sift from 7g of frosty trim, can't wait to try making hash with my cookie trim ;)

What are you guys trying to achieve by microplaning? Seems like a lot of work to make the hash less suitable for long time storing, and well it's not that big a hassle to pick hash into small bits, if it's sticky rub a drop of lotion on your hands and you're good to go ;)
To me it only makes sense of you're rolling a shitload of spliffs :)

Lol yeah, I don't even try to keep the hair out of stuff anymore, I just pick it out before I pack it. I need to buy an air cleaner for like every room.

I'm really unsure what microplaning is about too. From what I've seen the sieving just helps it dry out faster. I kind of wonder if there's a difference here when making little bits and larger bits, because I could see why leaving a big slab wouldn't dry very well. From what I have read there's always this idea that planing or sieving it is really important to the quality of it, but they never elaborate why.

I'm honestly kind of wondering if there's really a point in keeping the different grades separate. I can see a difference in purity in the 90+ micron grades, but in the 73 and lower grades it's mostly just differing sizes of trichome heads. I've looked at it in 120x and really the only difference I can tell between the 73, 45 and 25 grades when smoking is the consistency in which it burns/melts. I'm not really sure any of these grades is more or less potent and kind of feel like separating them into 3 distinct grades is a waste of time. Filtering them out into 3 distinct grades is still better, but I don't think keeping then separate is as crucial as people make it out to be. I'll reserve judgement until I've done it more than twice though lol

Stoners are creatures of habit, when I was taught to make it product was always seperated. I know guys that smash everything together in one big ball, looks so cool sometimes when mixing trim and bud grades together. Think dark trim mixed with light bud, almost a marbling effect...

Ahh so the microplaning is to dry it out faster/more evenly?

What about the 185 bag? Don't really see a point in getting that.

Hey Gunney, how are you getting all those different bricks man? I love hash but we're quite limited as to choice, lots of Afghan, some Lebanese, rarely get proper Indian or Pakistani. Man you got me drooling with nostalgia!.

I just buy it ;)

We only get Maroccan hash nowadays the eastern link was closed 6 years ago when 80 people + 1 cop was busted in a major police operation. Man do I miss the Creme and the Kashmir ;)

And the Afghan I see is all gold stamp - which probably means it is crap from the south . . .

You have to start trying local. Here is another Canadian hash: BC Kootenay Watermelon Kush Hash (AAAAA).

Hard & crumbly. Nice sweet hash smell. Smooth burn. I would rate it a notch above a decent Moroccan so a 7 or 8 out of 10. It is certainly not an AAAAA as advertised. $18 gr.

Is that from a dispensary? I tend to stay away from them, just money hungry. Take your shit and go attitude. And the prices.... I'm in Ontario GTA mainly bud, shatter, rarely seen hash. If so nothing speacial. One time I paid $25 a gram for some Israeli hash Gog&Magog couldn't even finish it tasted like ass. Passed it on to my kid lol.

Toronto Canna on Queen W typically has hash but most of mine comes from BC MOMs. I have gotten some 10/10, like the Mazar & the Afghani Cream earlier in this thread but it is rare & prices have been steadily increasing. One of the reasons I am growing is so I can make my own. I expect imported to dry up over the next year or so as we legalize & legal local hash becomes available. Although we won't see that until 2019 at the earliest since they're lumping it in with the BHO & edibles.

And if you like shatter, TC also has the 91 Supreme brand - which is some of the tastiest you can find. Or so I have been told.
