A week ago when family arrived PPFD was at 300 to allow roots to get ahead of shoots. Guess who forgot to turn it up?
My money's on @Keffka. He's been away for so long it wouldn't surprise me at all if he didn't turn up the lights.

Where is that boy, anyway?!?

Probably easier to adjust rh than light levels to try to fine tune things. In nature the light is pretty consistent, but the other things move around.
I’m looking for that 2° offset by adjusting the lights. I gotta go back & find a couple posts for a guide. Lately my dehumidifiers are running at night & usually run for a couple hours after lights on. Then I turn everything off for several hours & then start running humidifiers till just before lights off & then set the dehumidifiers & repeat. Wi-fi & blue tooth controllers aren’t options at present. Fortunately I’m able to spend enough time in the shop every day to monitor it, but it’s like a part time job…

Funny you just posted that! I was giving my little ones 390 ppfd @ 12/12. Now that I went up to 18/6 today I checked leaf temp and it was equal or 1 degree down depending on where the plant was. Since we're looking for 2 degrees down and I added 4 hours to their day I brought it down to 350 to see if it would bring me to the 2 degree offset. Sound right?
It does. But it's early in the day. How long have your lights been on. No adjustments til the 10 hour mark.

It is. Environment is why growers came indoors. It's the toughest part. The more soil in the tent, the stabler both temps and RH become. I use an Inkbird 200 wireless controller. It can run both a huey and a dehuey. I plug my exhaust into the dehuey socket. I can watch it thru the app.

The inkbird just might be an upcoming addition to my program.

Here are the current conditions:

You know how I know Gee's family left? I had 119 notifications today and 68 were from here 😂. Hope everyone had a nice holiday.

Can a plant prefer a much dryer soil and still achieve long term high Brix?

My Strawberry Cough is only flattening out her leaves when the soil reads around 2-4 on the water stick. I know that there are probably a fewer wet spots that the probe didn't hit but the 4 is right next to the stem. 2 seems awfully low but she seems really happy with the dry soil. Also when I Brixed her 2 days ago her leaves were really full of water because it only took one smash to get it out.

You saying I'm a $hit disturber G??!!🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Yes. These South Africans I justvgrew did not like wetter soil. They loved drying out. RVDV hitting 26 brix is my record and I really doubt I'll ever see that again. She was really hard to juice and liked a 2-3. That just means she likes air more than others do. Go read your seed description. See if it mentions drought tolerance.

High brix creates, among many other good things, drought resistance. When the plant gets too dry she will close her stomata to preserve water and live off her sugars. Her brix levels multiplied by her leaf count gives you overall sugars, and that determines how long she can go for.

With low brix she has to eat or die, so she keeps transpiring for food and ends up wilting sooner.

It's part of why I went to drippers. They keep moisture much more even. You can always water her lightly close to the stem.

She may not show it but she's stressing. You are droughting her.

She just has a higher stress tolerance than a low brix plant.

10 hours after lights on. I’ve changed nothing.

She settled in very nicely. Great real time example Rob! Thank You😊👊

See how she adjusted on her own to keep VPD almost identical. If you want to make an adjustment you could raise RH a bit, which would lower VPD, and then add a bit more light to close the temp gap to 2 degrees, but she's happy right there.

If it were in my tent I would leave it alone, but for you just learning the process it's OK to play too.

Raise RH 1st, slow her down a smidge, then add a bit more light, or wait until tomorrow and see what she says then.

She's in a great spot, I'd let her ride for a day longer. See what tomorrow brings at hour 10. Nice example of why you should wait until hour 10.

@Ramblinrose1965 just brixed an 18 a few days ago with a good fuzzy line. I wasn't around to congratulate RR. You folks are catching on quickly! Nice work RR!❤️👊😊😎

Now that you all are getting the hang of brix, start experimenting if you like. You can track it now so you can watch the changes play out. The fun begins!

Thanks Gee Man. I should have taken a picture. Doh
I have been using Geoflora veg nutes and @Bill284 recommended seaweed cocktail. Here's the little ones. I'm training them into a quadline configuration. Their moby dick strain.
