The Boptang Carnival

Hey BLS, found the new one. All this talk of skating brings back memories... good and bad Lol i was good at skating but not great, I was persistent however. Haha broke both wrists and my ankle, all on three seperate occasions... my mentality was go big or go home then go to the hospital. Lmao I remember watching Mullen do some wacky stuff at an event I was at... I was real into the styles Chris Cole, Daewon Song, and Andrew Reynolds.
I ruptured my spleen when I hopped off a curb, hit a rock which stopped my board. Such a silly thing... Right in front of a girl I was hanging out with... not a good look! I ended up in the hospital for a week, but they didn't remove it That was the end to my skating career. I liked BMX more anyway. I did most of my major body damage on 2 wheels

That sucks, sounds like it wasn’t meant to be! And yes those rocks are a b!tch! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve caught a rock and went flying forward. :laughtwo: All my injuries are from “going big” lol my ankle was the worst... tre flipped an 8 set and landed Rodney Mullen style sideways on the board..legs collapsed and rolled my ankle. Wrists aren’t that bad... I’ve broken each wrist twice. Funny you bring BMX up, broke a metacarpal in my hand flipping over the handlebars of my eastern.. first time hitting a jump  glad that’s all that happened... Needless to say BMX wasn’t for me. if I told you how many bones I’ve broken and injuries I’ve had you wouldn’t believe me... never stopped me though. Lol

I enjoyed BMX more. I was much better at it. I broke both my collar bones, my right wrist. I think i broke more bones fighting with my brother haha. My favorite time back then was street thrash late on a Summer night. I lived in Orange County back then so there was plenty of stuff to do at 2AM. Funny how things go. We have quite a few things in common on opposite sides of the fence. Its very good to meet you

Haha I know the feeling, definitely broken a couple knuckles on a couple knuckleheads. Lol I’m not even going to attempt to count the actual number of times I’ve broken a bone to save myself the headache... I agree, from across the map, nice to meet you as well my friend.

I noted a late night session was my favorite thing, but I think i liked watching my friends bail so much more. We had a messed up group. If one of us ate it, all the others would fall down from laughter. Now if they were REALLY hurt it was a different story, but if someone bailed and wound up in a wad it was our duty to make sure to let him know we saw... pretty common I think.

Ya definitely, the best were the ones that got recorded so later on we could all chill together and relive them. Haha! We would have hours of videos of our friends eating shit, just replaying them and laughing our asses off! Editing videos of our crashes on loops to music videos ... but I agree when someone got seriously hurt there was no laughter and we took care of them.. I’ve seen some NASTY injuries. One bud had a compound fracture and that bone was just sticking right out of his leg... yikes.

Yeah. Thats not funny

Not at all.. But the small falls where no one gets hurt are funny.. even more funny when you loop them together with goofy music. Lol
I missed out on the cinema editing. My I phone was a real apple.

The laughing would get outta control. Someone would laugh at you, you sware the next time that fool bails you're gonna give em both barrels. I still have some unfinished business with a couple people. Haha

Haha I love it, catching smoke! So many good memories just hanging at the local skate spots having a blast. We didn’t have a skatepark until years later so we were constantly getting chased out of businesses by the owners and sometimes the 5-0. Haha we’d just move on to next spot... These were before iPhone days my friend. We were filming with actual cameras and then uploading to our computers so we could use edit software to make the videos then upload them... A lot of my friends had the dream of getting sponsored so they invested in nice cameras and would film us when we went to do something big.

Bro where you gonna put all them healthy plants!!?! You building a new box?
Haha thanks bro!! :high-five: I’m gunna keep them in the tent.... once I up pot them to their next pot size (the final pot size) there should be exactly enough room for them all.:cheesygrinsmiley::thumb:

They look good man!
Thanks bro!! They’re coming around!! Had me worried for a bit there. Still do, I’m not in the clear yet!! :nervous-guy:

Chris Cole, Daewon Song, and Andrew Reynolds.
Absolute legends in the sport!! :high-five:

You got to watch Mullen at a life event? That’s awesome! I’m from Alberta ya know, and I never get to see events like that. That would Of been stellar!!

I’ve been in the emergency more times then I’d like to admit. When I was really young, I was skating at the park in town, rolled into a bank, up a table top kicker, then was going towards a quarter pipe to pop out and get some air time, but hit a rock before the quarter pipe, wobbled but didn’t fall, and when I got to the top of the quarter pipe I shot my board up to catch it, but it shot at my face, cut my right eye brow wide open, and had to get 10 stitches right beside my eye... that was fun!!:high-five:

Haha yep! Same here!! It was hilarious until they were actually injured, then it was just funny.

Haha yep, cell phones weren’t really out yet when we were all young and filming. My mom had a big ass camcorder and recorded on tape, so that’s what we used, (when I was able to sneak it out the house without my mom noticing) I’m sure I still have videos of me somewhere.

We also didn’t have a skate park at that time, so we did a lot of street skating. Got chased off more properties then the ones I was aloud to skate on. Running from 5-0 was part of the sport. Had a lot of fun growing up! Got in a lot of trouble too, but I had a lot of fun!:high-five::cheesygrinsmiley:

Just checking up buddy. Babies look great, going to be a very nice grow.
Speaking of skateboarding. Danny Way was a badass back then. Lost track over the years but really grew up watching Lance Mountain and of course Hawk.
I took too much of a beating because of my clumsy ass skateboarding so i switched over to surfing..lol.

Mountain was a funny dude. His eyebrows were hilarious. Seriously. He's great

Thanks man!! Appreciate the compliments!!

it’s funny you say you switched to surfing, surfing is probably more dangerous then skateboarding! I’ve never surfed in the ocean so I really wouldn’t know What it’s like!

Danny way is also a force to be reckon with...
He’s been awarded Thrasher magazine's "Skater of the Year" award twice. He’s got 5 golds and one silver in summer X games. He’s no slouch! :high-five:
Just crusing through or should I say sufing through :surf:
Surfs up duuude!! :headbanger:
good to see you PC! Hope you’ve been feeling well!!

Look at you, all Spielberg with the skate flicks. Haha. We were super lazy back then... shameful. What a cool thing at that age... to have a goal getting sponsored for not only doing what you love, but stuff you'd be doing anyway.

I DID just post my first video on 420... im so proud. Stltoed Scorcese from here on out. Maybe I can get sponsered

Yessir I saw Mullen and a bunch of others at an event when I was on vacation in Florida, it was awesome... It was a blast for sure... until the cops caught you... if they caught you.. this was still in the “skaters are dopehead” days so the cops where we we were loved making our lives hard. But only 1 or 2 of them and 10-20 of us scattering I only got caught up once. Gave me 3 tickets and took the board... said I should thank for him not charging me with felony flee and eluding.. ya thanks:rolleyes: we got sick of getting chased out and found an abandoned complex for businesses and waaay in the back they poured the concrete for another building and never built anything... so we built our skate park there haha it was awesome... our little slab of heaven in the middle of the forest...It lasted for a couple years before they found out about it... shortly after tearing ours down they started building the awesome skatepark that our city has now. A lot of good times!

Haha right? But nah those were my friends that invested in the cameras with that dream... don’t get me wrong I would have loved to have gotten sponsored but I knew I wasn’t that good lol... Believe it or not I was investing ALL my money into music... guitars, drums, amps, microphones, the whole 9... I shredded my 6 strings and really thought I had a chance to “make it” ... ...
