The Blue Experience - Kharma Reborn

week five flower

The flowering period is not my favorite time in the cannabis life cycle. I mean sure, you are getting closer to harvest, but it is the optics that I don't like. In fact, If I'm honest, the flowering period is confusing to me.
During flower, the plant is not only developing its buds, but it is also slowly dying and this is the part that always has me overthinking and sometimes obsessing.

Yellowing leaves, and the fact that the plant has stopped growing always has me thinking that something is wrong. I am obsessed with keeping the plant green when it isn't possible. She will decline and she will die. In week 5 we are starting to see signs of that. The temps in the tent hover between 82 and 84 degrees. The room that the tent is in is noticeably warmer than the rest of the house. I moved the tent and opened the big vent in the back for more airflow and kicked the exhaust fan up to med high. Now it sounds like a jet engine is in my house. I will definitely be growing only in the winter after this.

They look good for 5 weeks but yes at some point the plant will begin to fade some what.
My problem is not knowing if the yellowing and spots are from something caused by me, or if it is just the natural progression of the plant. Like right now for example, I have a few spots that look like a magnesium or calcium deficiency and I don't know if it is supposed to happen or if I need to fix it. I added more flower girl to the soil, but now I'm second guessing myself. Should I have added the flower girl, or should I have left it alone? And those brown pistils, were they caused by the light, or is this something that just happens naturally? And on and on it goes until it's done flowering. PW I am going to be honest. There are probably a few grows were I actually ended up killing my plants because I kept trying to "fix" stuff while the plant is in flower. And therein lies my problem I guess.

Your buds are looking great! You are going to see swelling and more frosting develop. But you are right its dying but you are going to harvest long before it's dead I hope.

Go perpetual! Then you always got young ones to take care of. :D

Thank you Crazy. I feel like growing cannabis is easy to learn but extremely difficult to master. You can throw a seed outside on the sidewalk and it will somehow find it's way into the crack and then sprout and grow. But trying to get that same plant through a successful flower is another story entirely. After going on 4 years now that's the one thing that i have learned above all else. But yes, lets hope she can stay green as long as possible until the end!

Or reveg this one! It's obviously a winner :).

I don't know that I want to try my luck with that Shed but I will tell you that we will be doing another DP Blueberry over the winter. Then I won't have to worry about these temps.

I’ve had some rough looking plants turn out awesome with good yield and very nice effects. It’s hard but don’t sweat it.

I will try. I think I have an obsession with things being perfect and if they aren't I tend to ruminate and ruminate until I can't stand it anymore. That's why I have succeeded in probably building a light that is way to powerful for my setup, when If I had just replaced the other led and put bigger heat sinks, it probably would have been more than adequate. Story of my life.

Have you always grown under the same circumstances and strains?

No. This is entirely new to me. This is the first time I have grown a photo period plant ever, and I got thrown into it head first because I didn't find out it was a photo until after the plant was 2 months old. First time growing in a amended soil. The only other time I used soil was my first grow, Miracle grow moisture control LMAO. The plants came out great though. But very strong and had me hacking and coughing due to unflushed weed. And finally, This is the first grow that I actually got serious about my lighting and upgraded it probably way too much. And now I don't know how to manage the heat. Every grow is an adventure.

It takes some time to show Ca or Mg deficiencies so if you recently amended it may take a few days to recover from that (if there is Ca/Mg in the amendment obv). Otherwise, a little cal/mag won't hurt the plant. It seems early to be showing browning on the leaves so I would see if you can tweak the water to fix it.

Penny and I are non-believers in flushing. Poorly cured weed is more like the cause of your coughing than nutrients.

Thank's for that Shed. I'm going to wait for a few days to see if this amendment clears it up, then I will start adding 1 ml of cal mag to her water.

Ben wondering were is the measuring point of a true reading for an ambient temp in a growroom? On the pots, canopy, close light or close ceiling? The difference can be quite big.
I measure mine at the canopy and at soil level. The soil level is usually 2 to 3 degrees below the canopy, at least in my case.
