The Beauty Of The Changing Seasons

I don't stop to smell the roses as people have said to do. I stop...check for critters....THEN sniff.
Be careful where your nose goes.

Well.....this is a Yellow Garden Spider

Argiope aurantia

They are supposed to be in fields and gardens...yadda yadda.
This one was on the wall of my covered screened porch, right smack next to the door. Sceert the beejeezuz out of me.

Normally I wouldn't allow spiders anywhere near that close to me to hang around, other than when I'm getting in their face with a macro lens. This one is so purty, I'm going to let it stay and do it's thing. It's a fairly small one compared to what I've seen here before, only a couple inches around. I've had them 5 to 6 inches in length in the past.
I love their zig zag web styles.

Did you know? There is a new "Gallery Search" feature that has been added to the "Gallery" tab? It has categories that you can search as well.

This is a great tool, which is why it is important to properly name your photos .

A proper name used when you upload, according to what the subject of the photo is, will make them easily found by someone searching for that subject. In addition, properly naming them will help search engines like Google index them, helping to drive traffic to your threads and the forum.

Here are some examples of how photo names are uploaded if you use the camera or cellphone auto generated image names. These kinds of photo names/titles are impossible to search making users not able to find your photos or understand what you are showing.

How pretty, I just saw video with a herd of Dik dik, they are really cute. Thanks so much for sharing, there are some baby deer close to me that are smaller than our jack russel terrier, they are honestly too cute.

Thanks!

This one had a sibling last month, but I have not seen it lately. Coyotes or traffic probably took it.

There is another Doe with two younger fawns that hang out across the pond. They haven't ventured any closer, Momma's pretty protective yet. Their eyesight regarding distant movement is incredible.
Dik dik's are the cutest little things! Rabbit qualities to them.

Update on my neighbors what I'm guessing is rice plants. it really boggles my mind the buckets they are in were only half full of soil, no drainage holes, there is like 6-10 stalks or individual plants per bucket.

Maybe you can ask them what they are?
Nice little privacy fence they provide. :)

I've tried to but his English is limited to ya and a head nod, and my Chinese is just a head nod. his plum tree has nice looking plums on it... if a branch only hung over that fence.
I understand the language barrier. Many many years ago I lived in an apartment off the base of Fort Hood. An oriental woman and her young son lived next to me.
One day she brought me over a plate of food, I can't remember what the food was at the moment, but she offered me the plate and I took it and nodded.
The next day I brought the plate back to her and she was speaking something to me, but I couldn't understand her and I kept nodding and tried to say thank you.
An hour later, she brought another plate of food.
I think she was understanding me to say I would love some more. LOL

love it. my neighborhood is mostly Asian. Sometimes the smells coming in my windows from the guy behind me is amazing. He has a small yard but he's dug a space about a foot wide all along the inside hie chainlink fence, he grows so much in such a small space it's amazing. early spring he grows garlic and as he picks that he replaced that with greenbeens tomatoes he grows up the fence he added a small section of lattice and he grows cucumber and some kind of squash. I see him every day on my walk and want so bad to talk an tell him how great his garden looks. but again it's ya ya head nod an I give him a thumbs up, hopefully that translates the same

A little oasis right off the main road, you turn the corner and bamm 4 lane black top street and car dealership, supermarket, the realization that your in a major city.

They certainly managed a Oasis of sorts in the midst of the hub-bub. Looks very relaxing.

The town river and the old grist mill. the shot of the granite wall and along the edge of the river, i know is only a wall, it's been there close to 200 years. Tha craftsmanship it took to make it with hand tools and have it last that long astound me.

If you ever wanna know the sex of your arachnids, it's as simple as this, boys are smaller than girls. Males tend to travel, females stay put. Females have that bootyluscious going on. Mature males will have what look like punching bags on the front 2 arms that are closest to their face.

Yeah, those "punching bags" are where they store their poison stuff. 😆
