The Alberta Growers Lounge

I was going to PM you about that. I know they’ve been cracking down in it. I’m guilty for making posts like that. #oops :laughtwo: :high-five:

I dont need to wake up to another warning but im sure itll happen once the mods see it.:nervous-guy:

Hi all. I was wondering... I had heard that growing autos outside was the suggested kind of plant if we were to grow outside in Alberta. Anyone got insight into this idea? I was thinking of growing autos outside this year instead of photos so I dont have to cover them...

Best,
~Magnus

Yeah, it sounds like they are the ticket if you don't want the frost fuss. I'm sure some of the guys have advice for you. I'm thinking about it but not sure. Good luck either way!

Seems like a good idea but I've never grown autos or outdoors in Alberta so couldn't advise one way the other.
Exactly... I could give some pointers but having my first auto 7 days old, I know nothing about this mystical creature we call Autoflowers... :bongrip:
Thanks both of you.

I've been learning about them on another site I cannot mention I'm sure. Direct competitor of 420mag.

They need as little disturbance as possible and, generally but not always, do better inside than out.

My fear is that I will have huge trees again and i wont be able to cover them. Mind you, they wont be growing anywhere near as long in veg as I usually grow them. Without my ex wife to help this is a real concern of mine. Also I just dont have the mobility in my arms that I used to have.

I'd hate to have to abandon my grow just because I couldn't cover them. That would be such a waste.

I was under the impression that autos are resislient and thrive through outside environments but i can tell you autos are super finicky and if conditions arent perfect they will suffer but still continue to flower no matter how small or big they are. I suggest autos in tent as outdoors environment is not steady enough, especially in beeeeerta!

My 2 cents for what its worth

The senses is, that autos life span would do well outside in Alberta because of the short life span. I like what 780 mentioned on if the environment isn’t “perfect” then the plant won’t do well.

I’ve never grown an auto, and my goal this summer was to grow one outdoors. I’ve grown a photo outside, but had to give it away to a friend who had space in his inside grow for it because the frost took over and it was getting too damn cold. So “for science” I’d like to try an auto outside and see if it can be done. You know, for science :high-five: :cheesygrinsmiley:

My hopes are to complete an auto outdoors this year, in a greenhouse but I’m still sticking to it’s outside

I would as well if my backyard had sun all day! Love testing

All about that science! Fully agree

Growing autos will not grow as big as photo period plants as they have a defined time period from birth to harvest and are less dependent on light period
Give it a go has been done next door in a province near you

Thanks much, pepperhead.
