The 4x4 Grow Tent Club

Yes, the best way to hydrate coco is a solution heavy in calcium. Coco will bind calcium and quite a bit of it. If you bind up all the calcium the coco can hold it won't release it. Then calcium isn't as big of an issue.

Have people not found CMH yet, I love my pair 315W and they do just great in my 4x4.
I love CMH. They work great. The only problem I've had with them is that they do get a little hot in the summer with both lights on. MAybe one of these days, I'll have to invest in central A/C.

Here's a little glimps of what's going on in my 4x4. They are all still pretty young right now. But I got one of my 315 watt CMH lights keeping them growing.

Here's the whole lot of them. Oh, and that little cluster of plants that you see in the front are cuttings that I took from the Sour patch kids that you wee in the back of the tent. I kind of butchered the SPK's because they were getting to big and I didn't have the heart to throw away all the cuttings.

These 4 are the Enchanted Violence off of my brother in laws plants. Hopefully they will grow nicely

These 5 are from the strawnana plant that is growing outdoors this summer.

These 4 are some cuttings that I took earlier this summer from the Sour Patch Kids from my outdoor grow on the deck. I just cut them back because they were starting to get really big and I'm not ready to flip them to flower just yet. My goal is to get them in my 5x5 along with some of the other clones that you see in the tent. Then I'll flip both tents to 12/12 at the same time and hopefully end the year with a nice harvest. If I'm lucky, I'll take a little break from growing until spring 2020. But I dunno. I tried that this year and I didn't make it much past January before I started another grow. Hahaha

Where do you have your ballast? Mine is outside the tent. The temp in my tent at present is high of 80, low 70, I do not grow in the summer anymore, start seeds in late July or August and try and harvest the 2nd crop in April or May. Just too damn hot and humid during the summer months.
I had two Nanolux 315 ballast and one just died. Went to the Hydro store, they did not have a Nanolus so he gave me a hell of a deal on a, I am not bashing them, Xtrasun ballast. the temp after 11 hrs of running, Nanolux ballast 129 degrees, the Xtrasun is 178 degrees. They are not in the tent but are in the same closet as the tent and during lights on I keep the door open to closet and a fan blowing in to keep the temps down. I have tried to find a Nanolux ballast but no one sells them seperate from the fixture so I am still looking.

Oh man, I wasn't getting any notifications at all for most threads I'm supposed to be watching, and forgot about this thread for a little while. Didn't take any harvest pics but I ended up getting just about 7 ounces from each of the two large plants I photo'd a few pages back, and now I've 5 in the tent. Two different phenos of the Ackbar OG and one Zurple Punch that's a few weeks from harvest. I've got two phenos of the Ackbar OG, one is the perfect sour/lemony OG Kush, pretty citrusy. The other pheno smells really great and when flowering smells like a fruity dark musty type of fruit. Once dried and curing it smells like straight gas/jetfuel/orange juice, but unfortunately it's fairly flavor flat upon smoking within a week and a half into curing. Looks great, heavy yielder, super sticky and stinky, and then the flavor falls a bit flat as compared to that fire OG Kush pheno. May need an extra couple weeks curing. Both phenos really heavy yielding though. The Zurple Punch is smelling like tart ripe grapefruit but should change quite a bit in profile in a week or two, and moreso once shes dried. Now I gotta catch up here.

Good to know the science behind it.. :)
You sure know a thing or two.. any other tips for coco?
Pennywise gave some good advice feed light once per day & keep it simple. I use calimagic with canna a&b and have had good luck with it. I get best results using calimagic at recommended strength on the bottle 10ml/10L. Anything less the stems will start to turn purple. If you run into any trouble just flush them with ph'd water, feed them again and you should be ok. Dont let the pots get too dry or you may get root burn.

@Sätkis Lookin' good in there, and nice setup. I've had my digital camera for probably 12 years and I have never found a setting that takes great pictures under HPS, I can take them alright and that's how they'll be simply because I absolutely DO NOT in any single way interrupt my flower tent. Not a single light shines in there before the light pops on, and not a single light ever shines the second after the HPS kicks off. Room is always pitch black. Your camera may have more settings than my old Nikon CoolPix from circa 2006-7. I can tell what size your buds are and growth formation even under the weird black barring in the pics so works for me. Looking at HPS for 15 years I may just be used to it, I can't stand purple lights.

Everyone's tents in here are looking really great. @SherlokOhmz absolutely 100% agree on amount of plants in the tent vs total light yield. I yielded nearly 1 pound from my 2 larger plants, and unfortunately lost a few ounces because my bottom larf branches were just way too blotted out from the huge plants taking up all the canopy space. Happens. This run I expect to get my 1g per watt avg with fewer more maintained plants. Those were some really nice colas you had.

I'd like to get a 315 watt CMH or two so I can setup a couple more 4x4's through this winter and stagger each by 4 weeks and hopefully yield ~1 pound every 4 weeks, still haven't ordered another tent, ballast, filter, can fan yet though. Maybe in the next couple weeks. I'll get some more pics soon to show my current tent.

I have my ballast outside the tent, but I have no way to control the heat in my grow room. In the summer, I use the cmh for vegging only. When they are in veg they don't seem to mind the heat, but in flower, the heat makes a big difference.

This spring I had my last winter grow finishing. Then in May we got hit with a couple 100 degree heat waves. That pretty much destroyed the grow. But as long as the weather is cooler, the cmh make some great buds.

The tent is stretching, thought about moving the plant I had in the window to the tent now its on 12/12 but it seems happy where it is. I think I will just leave it in the window and see what happens. I wonder how much a plant flowering in a seedling pot can yield? :bongrip:

With a high pressure sodium bulb the strike and re-strike time is 5 minutes, so you absolutely can harm the bulb components by trying to restrike a hot bulb within 5 minutes after cutting the power to it.
