The 4x4 Grow Tent Club

Having a 4x4 tent, mine all set up for new grow. Awaiting seeds popping. :)

Variety i have never goes tall. Short and bushy.

I figured I would start this thread for all of us indoor growers growing in a 4x4 tent so we can share our tips and tricks. I know that many of use grow tents for growing our favorite plants, but many end up upgrading to the ever popular 4x4x6.5 tent. Feel free to post your 4x4 photos and info.

My setup is as follows:

4x4x6.5 basic $125 grow tent from ebay
JD Lighting 1000w dimmable ballast
1000w ultra sun hps bulb
Hydrotek tube cooled hood
4ft light mover (only travels 8" both ways)
6" 440cfm fan attached to a 6x24 filter
22" osc fan for over the canopy
2x 6" clip fans blowing just under the tube

The medium I use is FFOF x Coco Coir x Perlite x Diatamaceous Earth in 2 and 3 gallon pots bags or softsided pots, basically whatever I get my hands on when its time to pot up. Nutrients are my simple Age Old Organics grow/bloom liquids with mollassess and pk13/14 fed with tapwater.

I run 8 to 10 plants in a perpetual rotation and roughly average 2 to 2.5 oz per plants strain dependant.

Post your 4x4's!

waay over my head and i have't finished looking at the 1st page. :adore:

Are you really running three full lights to sprout seeds?! Very nice and clean looking setup.
l

lol. no.....needs are in paper towel and photo just all on test after setting up. will get them straight to the soil when germinated and start the grow with the LED only. HPS on later at low setting then crank that up for flowering. :)

Fired up the ol 4x4 with 600w hps! This is kind of a test grow. Trying out 8x 6l containers and 2 10l buckets of pure coco.. handwatering for now, maybe add a topfeed system later on.. interesting to see what they yield! The 8 little ones are all from the same wonderskunk mom. Any suggestion on how long of a veg should i give them?

@Sätkis Good looking there. How much does that strain like to stretch ~3 weeks into flower? For me, the 4x4 always feels spacious, until it isn't. I currently only have two large mothers taking up my entire tent, and one clone of a mother I threw into flowering a bit over two weeks ago around the size of yours there, and she decides to stretch up nearly a full foot taller since then. With what you have, if you get ~8 inches of branch stretching, I'd say you could start considering flowering by next week, depends on how comfortable you are and how you maintain your stress once they hit full stretch. My 4x4 will be cropping out in about 3.5 weeks and I plan to do similar to what you're doing here and pack it pretty tight. I'm also under 600 watt HPS in a cooltube with an X-Large gullwing reflector setup.

Your main question at hand: I'd suggest maybe 1-2 more weeks of veg but really depends on your stretch. I'm currently running X-Wing OG X PhishHead Kush and she is liking to stretch like the Skywalker OG the first few weeks of flower, your skunk may stretch about the same, or a bit less I'd imagine. My clone I placed in flower at your sizes photo'd is about 3x the size it was when flipped.

Very helpful guys! Thanks! Allways done medium to big plants, wanted to try out more.. wondering if the 6l buckets are enough rootspace for them? Hoping to get bunch of these.

Right on man, and very similar here. For this start in a new 4x4 I started 3 and mentioned it a couple pages back. Each was feminized, one went haywire 90% hermie, one is solid and hasn't shown a single pollen sack and it's growing like a pine tree untopped, the third is bushier, a bit darker, and putting on flower and resin a tad bit faster than this one. So I was left with two mother candidates and had to let them get large if I was going to get 500g or better this run from just two mature plants. Have tons of clones ready to go right in immediately at the chop. I'll have to snap a couple new pics tonight at lights on, but I'm also used to growing a few full size plants and full size outdoor, and like you, I will be cramming more into the tent this time. I typically always flower in 5 gallon paint buckets, but to space save I may run them all in 2 gallon, or I may wuss out and still flower about six of them from a shorter veg in 5 gal as per usual. As far as rootspace, I'd be nervous and consider a ~1.5 gal pot size to just be too small to maximize root growth and especially flower.

They're pretty much going to always be under HPS lighting, sorry. I don't mess around with anything after lights are off, and I'm absolutely terrible and taking decent photos and so it's more for simple documentation. Will take better photos before the chop. These are day 33/34 of 63-70 days of flowering. No or very very few reddening pistils yet. They're stacking up the weight before they've even hit the swell season. This is two plants in a 4x4.

Upstairs bedroom through the dead middle of summer under 600 watt HPS. Doesn't get above 82-84 degrees Fahrenheit with lights on, around 77-79 typically during lights out. Cooltube extracts out of the tent, through the closet and up through the ceiling into the attic space.
