The 420 Fotographer Collective: Advanced Cannabis Photography

My dear friend. You something much rarer than a full lunar eclipse :) You saw a super blue blood moon. 3 phenomena's at once. Last time it happened was in 1866,

I walked outside at 5:45 this morning and there it was a full Lunar Eclipse, there will not be another one for 19 years.

I had no clue it was going on till I walked out the door for my morning throw session. I didn't even bother to try with the iPhone, it's just not made for that type of picture.

It was cool looking though!

Do any of you like fooling around with Photoshop? I do. I can't show you much of my works because it would reveal my identity. Sucks. But I have a few I made for my grow-journals just for fun. Some modified classic propaganda posters from the war against drugs

And last but not least, parts of our property in the far north, complete with iso grain and everything. Shot handheld so very high iso, Can't seem to find the original though so no idea what the settings were. I never color corrected it as I kinda liked the cold blue

I havent grown up using photoshop and what I did pick up has been lost. Dont have the program anymore really either. I had pirated it in the first place lol. I may pick it up in the future and learn some things but not anytime soon.

Great looking stuff. Love the winterscape. I love winter.

I got the last copy of the version you can own. CS6 I believe, it is. Maybe you can find an older copy, it may not be supported by adobe anymore, but for basic photo finishing I think it would be fine. The problem may be finding a version to work on your OS. I've found that although photoshop works on my computer some features stop working correctly due to OS upgrades and the program itself not being updated anymore.

Look into Light Room first and see if it has the option you want and maybe some that will allow you to grow your photoshop skills as well.

Last thing, there are a ton of tutorials on YouTube if you're looking to learn New Adobe Skills.

I had no idea that was going on. I've dropped the news and this is really the only social media I've got. I watch TV, but have a DVR so pretty much only see what I want to see. I had no idea it was such a phenomena, 1866!!!! Next one or next one similar to it is on January 21, 2019. Hopefully we'll all be around to see it and photograph it! Love that artwork man, you covered classic, and modern!!!!

I took the Amnesia OG out of the tent to get some photos. This is one of the better ones.
Canon D80, 100mm f2.8 Macro, F7.1?, 1/30ish, ISO 200, on a tripod with remote shutter release.

I ordered a set of studio lights. One is lighting up the back of the cola. I have a light source from above, and the other lightbox is coming from the left. I was also hand holding my reflector on the lower right in order to fill in the shadows. Used my grey card and adjusted for the variety of light. (reminds me, someone could talk about measuring PAR in your tent / lights with your dslr).

-congrats with the lights. Great pic.

Have a couple of lights as well. One of them only white/yellow while one of them can simulate any color, mood, even police car light, lighting and other things. You can control it with the phone app. I like that little light cause it fits so well on my rig. The other one is at least 5 times bigger. I mounted the camera on the rig again today. Thinking about that smoke photo. Think I will use that little light and experiment to see what makes the smoke most visible. Perhaps even use two light. Cool with these photo challenges. I have an idea now

Here's the current rig setup. As you can see, not exactly rocket science. These battery plates can power your entire rig. Also have usb contact. And a bunch of dummy batteries for misc geat.

Also a couple of microphones with dead cats for windshield

Hey Urb, i know you said ur not much of a photoshop guy. If you could find a way to do some burning around the highlights that picture would jump off the screen! Your pics are great, im just seeing a small area that can really make the image go from great to amazing!

I have photoshop elemwnts 9, and have a basic understanding of dodging snd burning but, no idea how to do it properly or where it should be done.

Deville, thats an incredible set up, it looks expensive lol.

Just wish I had more use of it. I don't tour around the planet to entertain people anymore, am mostly stuck at home with my cats and plants :) Not complaining or anything, just need to find a new use for all the gear. Thinking about shooting commercials for grow-gear - perhaps that could be something to do while we wait for the harvests. Will eventually unpack the recording studio gear as well and set up a room for all that stuff

Only one way to learn! Burn in highlights dodge out the shadows. Have you ever processed your own black and white prints. It the same thing. Do you have the tools, in PS Elements, to dodge & burn? I set mine for highlights and 2 or 3%. Try it if you can, i think you'll like the results. Practice practice practice.

I just got some new pieces of fun for my camera. Im trying something new, as far as photography goes, ive got a large comfort zone, so im looking forward to seeing what happens. I'll share my resluts if they turn out for me.

Enjoy the Super Bowl!!!

Well I picked up some extension tubes, yes they were cheap, but they are simply a spacer between the lens and the camera body. I was hoping to get some better magnification with a couple of my lenses, so I could get some better trichome shots. They seem to be more of a pain in the ass than anything and because I was using them on non zoom lenses I was was having to move the camera back and forth to try and find a reasonable distance to focus from. Of course they have the contacts but I was unable to control my aperture. I was able to get a few shots but nothing I'm too excited about, maybe I'll throw one up later but I'm not really happy with the results.

So now I gotta ask; Urban, How do you do it? Do you use a USB microscope?

Well my macro lens is just that good, I crop tight when I have a sharp image to get the trichomes shots. My eyes are getting weaker as my loupe is not working well with my eyesight lol, but the camera is allowing me to see them better.
