...the thing about the second pic...that bald eagle spent a good five minutes waiting on our outcrop of rocks for us to scramble for a camera, before taking flight over the very spot where our son decided to take his own flight to the heavens...I was never very religious...that day I became spiritual!...although they didn't allow me a picture, 2 years later 2 bald eagles landed on the outcrop...just to let us know everything is gonna' be alright...

...lil' bit of mexican truth juice tonight...if Ya can't be with the one's you love...love the one's Yer' with...cheerz...h00k...:Hookah:...think I'll take a page out of Woody's book...BIG glass of water tonight!...in a while...:smokin:

I'm still on my quest for better focus, you'd think with all the sophisticated equipment that wouldn't be a problem, but I've found that the closer you get to something the harder it is to focus. I think it's a question of finding the best aperture for the distance from and the subject you are shooting. Maybe I missed a rule somewhere, maybe each lens has their own sweet spot (makes sense to me), or maybe I just don't know what i'm doing (entirely possible). In any case I did some bracketing yesterday but not for exposure, just for focus. I put my camera into Av mode and started at the smallest aperture my lens will do, f32, then I just adjusted for whole stop increments: 32, 22, 16, 11, 8.0, 5.6, 4.0, 2.8. Interesting results, hence my three options listed above. To my eye f16 produces the most in focus which, according to Ansel Adams and the f22 club, should not happen. Of course him and John Muir were shooting Landscapes and lobbying the government to create our National and State Parks. Enough about the history of photography, here's a sample of my results; I'm only showing you the ones I think are best. I only spent maybe one minute per picture.

In the future I'll be turning off the AC/ Heater fan as well, I think that may be giving me a touch of movement blur, but if there's any of that blur in these 4, I don't see it.

All images are shot with a Canon 100mm Macro Lens, ISO 160, f16, shutter speeds from 1/13 - 1/40 of a second. All shot using a tripod.

Are you using the:
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
or the:
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM

There is a big difference in the quality of the optics between the two.

You mentioned Ansel Adams....I'll just take knee and bow my head.

The 2nd of the two options. It's also got 3 different distance settings: 0.3, 0.5, Full. I turn off the image stabilizer when it's on the tripod, no need for that, it just adds another variable for blur, besides I think in this case gravity is the better of the two options for keeping a steady picture. I switched back to my big camera, but haven't processed the pictures yet. Been helping the girls with homework.

Havin a bit of fun tonight!

Dude you are stepping up your game lol, looking awesome, as well as that last set of colas. Very nicely done. Seeing a lot of cool stuff lately and its inspiring.

I had an idea to create a charity stock cannabis photography thing. Create an account with stock photo. Donate our personal best to the account. Any purchase or use of said stock photos would generate revenue. Which is automatically donated to one or more charities of our choosing. lol smoking my own uncured green crack.

I hope you guys aren't getting tired of seeing this plant yet. She is so unique, veg in tent, outdoor for 7 weeks in moderate temps 30's - mid 80's. Her buds are small but she's just thick with tricks and frost. Just a beautiful plant, she will tough to cut, and I'm thinking I'll turn all those trichs into a nice sized hash ball!

I had a quick flash of inspiration as I was finishing up a photo shoot with the Amnesia OG, playing with one of my new light boxes, and envisioned something like this.

This was shot on my iphone. Edited on my iphone, basically made white white and black black.

I was going to write “Free to Grow” on it. Didnt wanna mess it up.

Edit: in hindsight it would have been better if I had accentuated the thumb more and maybe whited out the cloth wrinkles more. lol.

Alright. Also have this for you. The first one is the photo, the result, the second one is the shot of the shot. What it took to get it. I will have to grab the shot info later.

This is a 135w light at 5500k to the left, the dwarf star providing light in the back, me holding a reflector, the camera on a tripod with a remote shutter release, and the camera on AV mode. I was trying to get some kind of smokey shot while using a shallow depth. Didnt work

This is what I ended up with. Not good enough for the smoke challenge. I have a few ideas to try.

Allright. It's getting clear to me that I won't be photographing any bloodmoon today. It looks dark about getting the blue moon either. It's so cloudy I can't even locate the whereabouts of the moon in the sky. Hope one of you gets it

I walked outside at 5:45 this morning and there it was a full Lunar Eclipse, there will not be another one for 19 years.

I had no clue it was going on till I walked out the door for my morning throw session. I didn't even bother to try with the iPhone, it's just not made for that type of picture.

It was cool looking though!
