Amazing harvest P9! :bravo: Your carpet makes those mini jars look normal sized :).

And I was so hoping you would mention "laughing buddha" in that video ;). Can you continue to find a way to work that in?

I'm thinking dark grey background paper would be better than a light color (unless you have a really dark bud..then bright white could be a great contrast). The standard way of setting backgrounds is to tape the front edge to a table top and run it backwards and then up, with enough distance to the curve at the horizon so it's out of focus when your buds are in focus from front to back.

You should be able to get away with one light and a white card for reflecting, but two lights would enable you to control top and front/side lighting independently. These can be simple squeeze clip lights but make sure the bulbs you put in them are the same color temp so you can set your camera or phone to that temp. If you really want to get fancy you can cut pieces of cardboard to make shades for the lights to control their spread.

Then just look at the bud as you move the lights around until you see what you like!

Same thing for pics of the plants except you need a lot bigger background paper!

And take a lot of pics. It's not like there are film costs anymore :).

Man, I never really got into shooting stills. Skaterats or kids on bikes or streetlife. Stills, zzzzz.

I’ve gotten into my macro shots lately and boy do I enjoy them! A good closeup of a bud really lights my fire let me tell you haha!

I have just started using my DSLR camera for my 4x4 tent now since I have it set up properly for the HPS light. Getting the right background I’m finding is very important for focusing and clarity.

Work I need to practice on for my upcoming grows! These plants are so photogenic it’s hard to deny them their spotlight.

Unless you're going to iron every time, use paper and not fabric. Roll it up and stand it in a corner.

I shot with strobe lights (still have them in a trunk in the shed...no idea why!). Anything that puts out a consistent color light will work. And since the neither the subject nor the camera are moving (tripod a necessity), they don't need to be incredibly powerful.

We're talking DSLR or phone here?
Yeah I have the Nikon D7100 with a macro and a 300x zoom, so 3 lenses. Can't use the 300x indoors though lol.

How close do you guys generally get to take your Macros....not sure if my lens is great or not. But again without any decent photo lighting none of the equipment matters at this point.

I use my phone with a macro lens attachment and I get about 1-2” away from the plant/bud.

Takes some steady hands but once focused I can get some incredible shots!!

Interested to see your Fastbuds results. I grow mostly autos, and had done a lot of Sweet Seeds auto strains. After the comparison grow with Fastbuds Blue Dream, they got my attention. I've got their Gorilla Glue and Girl Scout Cookies going now and they are rockin' like the Blue Dream was. They definitely seem to have the auto genetics down.

I did the Fast Buds GGa for a comparison grow. Everyone who ran those genetics had pretty good results. I don't have anything bad to say about them.

Most of these were gifts from my homie @Bilbobudkin420 ... except for my nemesis SLHa. LoL
I look forward to growing them! Even gonna give em names; just like their fat ol' auntie Jolene.

I think you're running the Dyna nutes too. If so, would be interested to see how your feed schedule compares to mine. Sorry if it's burried in your previous journal entries. Quicky scanned back though the previous pages but didn't see it. Day 30 on mine but GG has a smell on the fingers when you're working on her that is very intriguing. Hoping the GSC makes great butter for cookies

I'm feeding pretty aggressively right now with my last photo girl. She gets 2gal of nute mix every other day.

Right now, I'm mixing (per gal)
1/2 tsp DynaGro Foliage Pro
1/2 tsp DynaGro Bloom
1/2 tsp Advanced Nutrients Big Bud
2 tsp Terpinator
1/2 tsp Advanced Nutrients Sensi Cal/Mag

I was also using 1 tsp DynaGro Protekt per gallon until last week.

The last 2 plants I harvested were finished this same way, and the results were pretty drastic.

This next group of autos will probably start on 1/4 tsp Protekt and 1/4 tsp Foliage Pro. I'll bump that gradually until I get to 1 tsp & 1 tsp. They will veg on that mix until I see pre-flowers.

I'll add in 1/4 tsp Bloom the first week, then bump it to 1/2 tsp Bloom for the rest of flower. I also dial back the Foliage pro to 1/2 tsp through the end of flower too.

Now we're at:
1 tsp Protekt
1/2 tsp Foliage Pro
1/2 tsp Bloom

Around week 2-3 of flower, I will start adding in the Big Bud. Starting at 2mL per gal and titrating up each week to a final dose of 6ml per gal until the end of flower.

I'll use Cal/Mag as needed.

Generally, my water & feed schedule is every day. For most of the grow, I will follow the water/water/feed rotation. If I can see them chugging nutes, I'll adjust to water/feed/water/feed.

I kinda just fly by the seat of my pants. LoL, I tried it... and it kinda worked. I also monitor them closely through the whole grow so I can add or back-off nutes accordingly.

Hope this wasn't just nonsensical babbling, and someone can actually make sense of it. LoL

Stay lifted!

I guess I should have prefaced that by saying that I grow in straight coco.

Soil is a whole different game...

I start the seedlings in cups with a coco based "seed starter" mix. It has low level nutes in it. I'll up-pot from there to their final pot (for autos) with straight coco, charged with 1/4 strength nutes.

As long as they respond well, I will proceed with my normal feed schedule from that point on...

:passitleft:

Do you check the PPM at all Preston? I'm curious as to what all that works out to. The nutes I use, any higher than 1100 and I start to see nute burn.
No clue! LoL
:ganjamon:

I've burnt tips a few times, but never bad enough to slow them down. I'll water for 2 days, then resume feeding with an amended dose.

We aren't drastically different. I don't use the Bloom anymore. I did one run 50/50 FP and Bloom, in bloom vs just sticking with the FP. Didn't really see a difference. I start 1ml FP and 1mp Pro Tekt from day 1, and increase 1ml of each, each week until at week 5. I stick with that till the end of the run. Sometimes they max at 4ml, 5 I may get a touch of tip burn. This is my first grow supplementing Cal Mag and adding Terpinator (since they sent me 2.5 gallons of the stuff).

Growing in Pro Mix.
