Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

Based on y'all's recommendations, I let my first cob dry to ~62% in the jar. It's been ~45 days since the ferment phase ended. Last night, I had a piece. OH BOY!!!

For anyone still on the fence or judging based on the first taste after a week of ferment (like I did), don't. The older cob is waaaaaay better than the newly unwrapped.

WAY better.

:D

Smoke/Chew what was the experience like if you don’t mind me asking. I wouldn’t mind living vicariously through someone else for a min or two.

I'd had a really bad day, so I turned to the lemon candy buds with the same strain cob on top because I liked the uplifting, head high. I smoked it in a bong. The flavor of the buds was always like lemon drop candy to me, but I couldn't place the taste with the cob on it. It was the medicine I needed with a calm euphoria. Not the giggle to yourself kind, but a relaxing, "everything's gonna be all right" kind.

I'm afraid to try chewing it again, but maybe I'll do a tiny piece tomorrow or Friday.

Glad to see ya are enjoying it Mac! Told ya it was some good stuff sis!!

Turn my back for a few days while I realign my life......Lol!

I do that's why I wanted 2 of them to start with. I want to try the same strain with a higher temp sweat for shorter periods and lower temp sweats with longer periods. Same for fermenting. Now the jar curing/fermenting is whole other world. I am really loving the fermented jar buds now. They give such an intense buzz. I didn't have room for the 2 big coolers in the grow room so I'm putting them in the living room on a card table. It's a good thing the missus loves cobs or she would be complaining about this situation.

I keep thinking how your charming wife chews small bits of Carn to keep her “normal” so I started doing so the other day. I’m liking this effect. I’m so glad I’ll be cobbing my sativas before I go. So much easier to transport.

And how much am I loving the experimental level you bring to the game. :hugs: When I get to NOLA I’ll be setting up my own cobatron. :slide:
Where are we on trying the vacuum jar buds my friends???

Nice to see so much action on the fermented buds. I only have indica buds fermented, and I’ll be needing someone to test them. I don’t dare venture there. Lol!

You sir, are a wonder. :kisstwo: That looks like something that’ll come in mighty handy in my home.

That’s basically how I did it too, except I used a smaller jar and did open it every 2-3 days. They’ve gotten real good now, I highly recommend waiting until they are a dried and cured for a couple weeks. My early samples weren’t at all a good experience, but now it’s great.
:passitleft:

My Black D.O.G. buds’ve been done now for about a week, and the canna jerky is curing. Jgrow’s stopping today, if all works out, and I’ll get his take on them. :passitleft:

I think Sue is doing some in a jar right now too.
:passitleft:

:passitleft: So nice of you to always have one handy. :passitleft:

I’ll be doing more when I take my next sativa down in just over a month. By then you guys’ll have all the particulars worked out.

I find 36-hours to be something of an optimal point for cobbing. Have you noticed any preferences on timing yet Doob?

I was thinking enough room for multiple cobs or one Watermelon size ?

Go big or go home, eh Gazoo?
I don’t know but seems to me that too big could result in the center of the mass never being able to dry out and cure properly. I’ve been sticking with 1 oz wet and they even take a very long time (in my 50%ish RH curing tent). I’m very paranoid of mold though.
:passitleft:

I’d have to agree with this thought. Lol! :passitleft:

If we keep sampling will not have to worry about any mold...

A fine point indeed. :battingeyelashes:

WooHoo! Mack’s fully on board! :yahoo: We all knew with a little cute behingyyou the tune would change. I questioned myself the first few times...”Is this real or are you just psyching yourself up, driven by Tangwena’s passion?”

Nope... it’s real. Lol! Glad you got there Mack. :high-five:

You guys use colas or smaller buds for your cobs? Sorry stupid question

What stupid question? :battingeyelashes:

I strip the branch into a nice bundle. Everything attached goes in. Makes my life much easier. Every inch of the plant has trichomes filled with essential oils, and the quality and composition changes from spot to spot. I like the idea of getting the feel of the whole plant.

Just moved my Northern Lights cobs from fermentation to the cure. Will probably sample her in a couple weeks.

Yes! A good look at NL in fermented form. :high-five:

Got my Alien Vs Triangle cob out to dry. The buds are pretty sweet, so I'm looking forward to the cob in a few days.

Sounds tasty. You’re spoiled now, you know that, right? :battingeyelashes:

The Black D.O.G. fermented buds were so delicious smelling that I can’t wait to try with a sativa.

I think I’ll have a chew of Carn to get the day fired up. :slide:

I think it probably depends on the strain, how tight you roll them, and how moist they are going in. I’ve basically stuck at around 24h, but every one has been different coming out of the sweat. So some experimentation is in order. I have two different cobs curing right now that were similar as flowers but now the identically made cobs are very very different.

I have been thinking about the pure terp extracts I bought last year. I wonder how adding a couple drops before the sweat would change things. Or maybe I’ll make some terp infused corn husks when I make some more rolling papers.

I gave up on the jar cured experiment, I mean I still have some curing but I’ll not be making more. I think it’s just a faster way to get a “cob lite” smoothness but at the cost of flavor and smell. It didn’t seem to have much effect either way on potancy either.
:passitleft:

Interesting Doob. :passitleft: I trust your judgement on potency. Jgrow’s on his way over and i’ll be offering him some line dried and some fermented to compare at his leisure.

BigBearNTexas is stopping in Sunday. Maybe I can get his impressions too. I don’t dare smoke any indica right now. I’m already emotional at the drop of a hat. Lol!

Just caught up on the past few days posts, man this thread is rolling along. Cobs coming from all directions, there are going to be some excellent smoke/taste reports coming in the coming months :ganjamon:

I've just cobbed up my Dark Devil. It was drying for a little over 2 days, but very humid here so not as dry as usual.
I lost a bit to bud rot and have never tried smoking it before so only managed to cob 25g.

and when I was vaccum sealing it, the Dark Devil's Blood leaked

To help with a more even drying, I've started flattening my cobs a bit, why not :-)
Here it is after around 38 hour sweat - it was very wet so I felt it needed longer.
That's some Sweet Soma on top, cobbed on 23/07, it's starting to smell very fruity.

Those scraggy ends are annoying my ocd, lol.

Hmmm, now what on earth shall I do with those little bits ;)

and a close-up of the Sweet Soma to finish

Peace fellow Cobbers :-)

Oooo..... dang sir..... :adore: Those flattened cobs look like what I was shooting for but missed with my Black D.O.G. buds that I did in a slab. Mine came out with a popcorn topography. Lol! I’ll see if I have a picture after I finish dinner.
