Tales From The Krip!

I hear ya', Brother! I was weighing all the pluses & minuses of placing another order and I ultimately decided that Grandma may have to wait for that operation, the kids may not be able to go to college, and the bank may not get their mortgage for a few months, but on the plus side, I'll be so stoned, it won't really bother me that much!
You are aseedaholic:rofl:
You know you are a grower when....:rofl::rofl::rofl:

 That is great bud! I was so close, so very close to ordering! Great restraint was shown on my part. I needed to be able to drive to work so I could fund my next purchase lol.

All this talk of seeds had me envious....

So I placed an order for hazelnut creamer from exotic genetics, can't beat 40% off :ganjamon:.

Nice! I am yet to order any Exotic gear. Their Tina line up looks stellar. Their Gelato 33 x Tina is drool worthy. I have seen a lot of people enjoy their gear but have also seen a lot of complaints. I would just watch for herms, especially on the bottom third of the plants. I have almost ordered Cube crosses multiple times but have hesitated because of the herm rates lol. Still some mighty fine gear though and at 40% off I am sure you got the pack for less than $100.

QUICK UPDATE

After about 15 hours of soaking, the Dolato had cracked and was showing a small taproot. The Forbidos looked like it was just starting to crack but no taproot visible. I transplanted both into the HB soil and we'll see how they do.

I added a trellis net to the tent that I'm going to use as somewhat of a SCROG screen to help delay the two Tuts while the Fruit Punch (which isn't that far behind) and the White Widow (which is VERY far behind) catch up a little. It should also help fill up the space a little better.

Also, I started planning a new, larger cabinet to use for veg/clones. It will basically be a much larger version of the current veg cabinet but will give me room for more, and taller, plants. That should allow me to veg the girls "on-deck" in the 1 gallon containers while maintaining several more bonsai moms in the 2"-4" containers. I'll then be able to convert the current veg cabinet into a breeding cabinet and start doing some crosses. I'm still thinking this is about 4-6 months away, since I'd like to get a harvest in first and the current strains in veg are still small enough that they're not outgrowing the space. Plus, I'm estimating it's going to cost about $500 total to setup - even as a DIY, and with all those seed orders, I've spent enough on the growing for a while. But, the cabinet will be solid with high quality components and built to last, although tents are much cheaper if stealth isn't a factor!

Glad to hear you had a quick crack with your Dolato. Both Dolato S1 seeds I cracked did the same thing. I look forward to seeing your upgrades whenever they come about. I have been considering building rooms for a while now but I have other things going on that make it less of a priority. It is hard to be stealth with big tents pumping air in and out of them lol.

I feel like I see the same concerns with ihg and hermies o_O, 60$ ain't bad and I thought the site I ordered through guaranteed germination but now I can't find it...

$60 is not bad and yes a lot of breeders that are putting put hype strains have these issues. Seed Junky seems to have all sorts of the same issues as well. It is just a matter of keeping an eye on things and choosing the hardiest ones you can find.

DOMO ARIGATO MRS. DOLATO, DOMO!
:theband:

The Dolato sprouted earlier today. I had to help her out of her shell and remove the membrane and the surgery was a success!

The soil looks to be "erupting" on the Forbidos, so I think we'll see her arrive sometime tomorrow.

Happy Harvests!

Haha Mrs Dolato! I like it! Congrats! I named my Pupil Magoo Mrs. Magoo! I didn't know the seed was a reg when I popped it so figured some positive thinking plus that is what I would have named her anyways. I bet you see that forbids today. I love seeing the soil erupting, I know that means t minus 10 for lift off!

:high-five:

Just doing a drive-by to catch up abit.. GL I hear good things about that strain..

ME NEEDOS SOME FORBIDOS!

The Forbidos showed up this morning. She's still a little bent over, but looking good:

But, the Dolato is standing straight up, today:

Happy Harvests!

:Namaste:

VEG CAB UPDATE

It was time to top the Blackwater so I figured I'd get some pic's and a veg cab update in. I didn't get a shot of the cab itself, but it's definitely packed and, with all these additional strains, I've been downsizing from the 4" containers to 2" containers for as much as possible, where I'll keep them as long as possible, until I get the larger cabinet or decide to cull some strains. I'm very happy with the strains I have going, but since I haven't gotten a harvest in of any of them yet, not sure what, if any, will be worth keeping.

Here's the Blackwater just before topping and I am attempting to root the top. She's a little taller than I would have liked and I'll likely keep the clone and flower the mom, again replacing the 4" container with a 2" container:

The Blue Gelato 41 is nice, short, and has thick full leaves. It will be another week, or two, before she's tall enough to top & clone:

The newly rooted BAK is in a 2" container and just got her first haircut:

Tut #2 got cloned before I ordered all the additional strains, so she's in a 4" and was recently cut back. When the other clones root, I'll take a couple cuttings and replace her with a clone in another 2":

Tut #1 is the most recently rooted clone (although, I have two Fruit Punch clones that should be showing roots out of the cube in the next 48-72 hours!) so she's in a 2":

And, the FP was topped about a week ago, so she'll get replaced with a clone in a 2" container, also:

Finally, the new arrivals from IHG, the Dolato F1 & Forbidos:

Sorry to spend so much time on container size, but with the limited space in that small veg cab, it's been my biggest concern since I still need room to get four more plants/clones vegged in preparation for the flower tent, in addition to all the mom's. Also, as much as I love UBT, it's going to be reserved for the plants going into flower and the mom's will all have a single main cola.

Happy Harvests!

GL with these. I hear good things about the Doc's regiment. And you got some great genetics going in. That Tut is supposed to be one of them over 30% Thc strains? Keepem Green

Yeah, I've been impressed with Doc's (and other's!) results using the Kit and, I figured, what could be better to test the kit than the Tut? And, the two Tuts are doing great with Doc's gear!

If I can get a pheno anywhere near that 30% THC level, in a worst case, it will be great to use for breeding and should get a great yield for RSO! That being said, I think it was the comedian Gallagher that once said, "People who are high shouldn't smoke dope because they don't get any higher, they just get lower on dope!"

So, while I do appreciate the high THC strains :roorrip:, there are plenty of great 15% THC strains out there, too. I'm not sure it matters much if it takes two hits instead of one to get medicated if the terpine profile is good and the desired medical effects are achieved.

As the breeders continue to produce these high THC strains, I'm sure there are other desirable traits that are being lost through the selective breeding process. I guess that's what makes it so much fun searching for phenos!

The new growers tend to get excited about the strains. And, you do want solid genetics to start with, but even two beautiful parents can have ugly children!

It's all about the phenotype, Baby! :yummy:
