SweetSue's Perpetual 3.0 - The Hempy/HB Hybrid Grow

Wow! I am brand new here. Just started reviewing decorated members to see what the site is about. came across this post and can easily see why you have so many likes. Thorough, open, informative, pleasant, etc. Thanks for your contribution to my first day in "the village" as Bonsaiweed named it :).

:welcome: TA13. I’m out walking with a friend but I wanted to be certain to welcome you to the family you didn’t know you had. :ciao:

growing enough of a steady supply to include a juicing regimen of at least 1/4 oz of fresh bud every day

Hi Sue!

Ahhhh ... finally off the road for the day, started driving at 0430!

Are you talking fresh harvest weight or dried bud weight?
I assume fresh weight since juicing is the goal for your daughters liver health.

100oz wet yield per year is easily doable in a 2x4x6 tent, with a nice mother plant for taking cuttings.

A perpetual all stages of growth planting is some serious work and will take much effort and planning! I've never tried for more than 4 harvests per year, so I'm just guessing.

Can you freeze fresh harvested, and then pull from the freezer for juicing, or does the protocol require same day fresh harvest?

If fresh frozen is OK, once you get 30oz wet weight in the freezer, you wouldn't constantly chase the growth circle (120 days of meds and one regular full grow cycle). I freeze (double vacuumed) my excess dried and cured buds often, and they are still great years later.

Peace
Keith

I’m counting wet weight Keith. I’m figuring a plant every two weeks should do if I contain the size to accommodate the space. If I can get it going the way I envision I’ll start juicing myself, once we have her stabilized.

I’m thinking if I vacuum fresh and freeze that should be the same as fresh, wouldn’t you think? I know members who use frozen fans to good effect. I don’t see how frozen buds should be a problem. It should simply mean the cell walls will break down easier.

At least that’s the way I see it.

You have a safe trip my friend. We’ll all sigh with relief when you’re safely ensconced in your new home. :hugs:

For all who care.... no update today. It’s an international holiday and the daughter convinced me to celebrate and take a break.

On-Topic joy to tide you over. :battingeyelashes:

Sue,

Yes, I do think it would be the same if frozen, if not even better since many cell walls will be deteriorated, maybe more bio-available. You deserve a break on 420! Enjoy your time off without pay! I'll be glad to finish driving, some people just don't care that they aren't paying attention at 70mph ... insanity! Tomorrow night, I hope to be finished the long haul! Thanks for the thoughts, I hope your daughter is feeling OK. I know how liver disruption feels, it just sucked the energy right out of me and made me feel weak and tired 24/7. Moving near my one of my sons and his family, need someone to take care of us when our wheelchair days arrive!

Peace
Keith

Happy holiday Sue! That sure is one colourful Carnival!!

Thank you Amy. I take it your holiday celebration met with your approval. I had an absolutely ma fella's day. I think I'll get completely and blissfully high and do some stretching. I've been on my feet for quite a few hours and the hips are tight.

The bong...... some Carnival......a cup of green tea..... life is sweet.. :slide:

A little peek at Dale's bagseed.
Growin this one to contribute to Sue's travel fund. Ya'll feel free to join in now. I can easily contribute a plant from my little grow to Sue and it sure puts a smile on my face.
I'll bloom it someday... but for the moment it's just adding bloomsites. KeifKeith has put forth a Sour Diesel suspicion. I'm just not weed-worldly enough to form my own strain guesses.

Ooo.... she’s beautiful Tead. Put a smile on my face. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Sour Diesel would make sense. Bag seed this close to NYC.... he was out in the east coast with the Navy before I met him. If it is SD you’ll know it when she goes into bloom.

You are so incredibly sweet. I can’t wait to meet you. :kisstwo:

Isn’t it amazing what a gallon of perlite will grow?

So here's my plan.....

I have this bench that's cut down from Dale's last train layout. You can see it off to the left in this picture. It's where that yellow lamp sits.

The plan is to shift it to the wall that now holds the veg shelf. I can block it in with curtains suspended from the lowered ceiling, the way I have in the bedroom. I already have a way to hang lights over the bench, so it's just a matter of creating the enclosure.

This'll support what I have in mind easily.

What I have in mind is simple white cloth shower curtains. Lightweight as they can be, they'll reflect the light back to the plants and also act as a type of light shade. As you can tell from the first picture in this post, I use the veg shelf for ambient lighting. Hmmm..... This might be a good idea for the tiny closet while I'm growing autos in there.

We start with one pot...

.....and keep on going until I run out of room.

The lower shelf could act as a nursery for solo cups under T5s the BIL has laying about, should I decide to expand. Lol!

I think it can work. It's getting the timing right. I'll have to reign back the enthusiasm. Lol!

Yep...... that looks like a solid plan. Now I can go to bed and sleep soundly. :green_heart:

I have done - and continue to do - the same thing, using whatever is handy to line the walls (or make walls).

This is a very imperfect solution, though. Such things make poor reflectors. I suspect something like panda film would increase yields. I don't know what that stuff costs (no stores around here that sell it, AFAIK). But I've read that its reflectivity is high. It also blocks light transmission - although that could be as much because it's black on the outside as anything, so this alone is not necessarily a sign that all of the light is reflected back towards the plants.

Never underestimate cardboard....... I've found myself doing all kind of shit with cardboard painted acouple coats flat white for grow space.

I use to do custom,, well as custom as you can in prison, makeovers of someone's lockers. Put shelves, and doors outta cardboard. Of course these weren't painted with white paint, we used pictures from our favorite mags,,, generally a hustler or playboy. But served a purpose.
Back in Mo, I had to make to fit grow spaces in my closets and such. Used many a box and flat paint, and a roll of duct tape, and you can make anything you need. You'd be surprised how long cardboard will last with paint. Outside looks camo too. Brown box with Winter Coats written on it.

I don't know what I'm saying... Just taking a peak,,,,, and see a AB conversation and I'll C my way out............ Hope ya'll had a great 420.

For the record... 1.5gal... but 2Ls work pretty damn good too! (Thanks Lex!)

I might switch to coco... been playin with it lately and liking what I see so far.
I've been seeing a problem with autos just making roots too quickly in the thin perlite medium. Maybe I can slow that down some with the thicker coco medium.
Hmmm...... damn.... never tried ProMix either....
Seen gravel and marble grows... never tried them tho.
Plus, as an added complication in Tead's gardening world, I keep having these ideas on how to pull off a 90f active hydro water only grow. This is just a train wreck in the making.... but I have that need for answers dammit.

Oxygen, oxygen, OXYGEN! Boost that DO. No problems, no worries, lol. (Ensure good airflow across the greenery.)

Yup... lots of bubbles in a bucket ... maybe hydrogen peroxide. Don Quixote rides again!

Good grief, you're as bad as me. LOL! I believe I've found my process in my small hempy pots, and I don't see me varying from this for a couple years. You've done that hydro dance before, haven't you? I recall tales of woe from the last attempts?

The coco tempts me. I have a small bin of the medium stored for the day when I try that addition, but that may be my only variance from pure perlite.

You and I think alike Woody. I've been looking at it and thinking if I rescue some refrigerator boxes from the local appliance store's trash heap I could make some bad-ass screens using flat white as the reflecting surface. Flat ultra-white paint is the best reflector outside of a tent. I could even suspend them from the ceiling like sculpture. Lol!

Thank you for reinforcing what I'd already considered. I'll be looking at this idea more closely. This can turn out to be a fun creative project :slide:

Hydro nightmare tales. Funny now... but it sure took a while.

The coco has an added bonus... no hole blocking... very nice.

Coco can support an organic community of helpful biological friends to help you grow the darlings too. That entices me, with my history of LOS.

That's what I did in the upper portion of a very old farm house. It got so hot up there I couldn't sleep at all on the second floor. You've probably seen me preach about aquarium power heads, lol, so I'll just type: Don't depend solely on air pumps & air stone (type) devices. And upsize your reservoirs as much as you can. I'm thinking 20-25 gallon - but something large might be even better outside. The H₂O₂ is a wonderful booster, should be using it all the time for every non-"organic" nutrient hydro setup.

The above and at least a little care in choosing your strain(s), and you should be fine. You can obviously grow cannabis, so the generalities won't be an issue.
