SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

Gardening fun. :cheesygrinsmiley:

CBD Critical Cure 2.6 became the first to go hempy. Let's see if she can match the magic I've been getting from Doc's Kit in soil. If not, this strain would be the only reason I'd stick with soil in the grow.

IMG_081447.JPG

She gets to rest down here overnite before beginning the gradual acclimation under the lights. I'm getting better at not frying them. :slide:

Candy Cane 3 now has blossoms! :yahoo:

Then I decided that I control the way the grow progresses, not the over-eager plants I'm suddenly cranking out. Devil's Carnival 1.1 got a much needed double topping.

Took her from way up here past the safe zone...

IMG_082356.JPG

....back to a more reasonable height for this stage of her life. I'm anticipating keeping her in veg long enough to get a bush instead of a tree.

IMG_082449.JPG

So much potential staring back at me. Let's see if I can bring some of that out for her. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Speaking of Ideas of March...

Today, I fat fingered over on the Build your own soil thread and the wayback machine jumped me to this post

I grew up in Oakland, Ca. lowland So Cal can grow almost every plant you can imagine. After California, outdoor gardening in New England SUCKS! I want to move.

It's just more challenging Rad. You would have been amazed at what my grandparents could coax out of the ground in SW PA. Of course, you're a bit more severe than we are, but you haven't begun to explore the possibilities where you are yet. You've just started that adventure.
The copied post

4 months later, I moved into a new house in the Midwest - I love it here. - plants grow.

Careful what you wish for around the Ides of March!

Outdoor gardening here in New England certainly does present some challenges!! But I love it here so I will gladly take those difficulties with a smile on my face!

4 months later, I moved into a new house in the Midwest - I love it here. - plants grow.

Seems like my most favorite plants would have needed to flower until mid-December (or possibly even later) if they had been grown outside under Sol's light. Were it not for the heat, the lack of compensating sub-freezing Winter temperatures, and the stupid and unconstitutional firearms laws there, I might have considered California as a potential destination after Mom no longer needs me close by (may that day be far off into the distant future). I've watched lots of "nature" type shows and know that the state is full of beauty - and, thanks to this forum, I know there are lots of wonderful people there, too.

If you live in Boston or Cambridge, you should probably think of an exit strategy. When they flood in the next 30 years, the water won't go back down.

I am north west of Boston....far enough away and with enough elevation that I am not worried. And hopefully by the time that happens, I will be in the mountains of New Hampshire

lol I know what you mean...a lot of Boston is actually built on trash. The original city was MUCH smaller. I grew up just outside Boston/Cambridge in Arlington. Havent quite made it to the mountains yet, but I got out of MA. Granite has much better feet than then wood pilings.

Boston has always been a city I enjoyed visiting, but never wanted to be part of their inflated cost of living. If I relocate from PA it'll likely be west.

My view of Devil's Carnival. :laughtwo:

The timer went off for the dehydrator.

IMG_084442.JPG

Next time I'll check after 24 hours. Evidentially I trim my buds close to the perfect size. :battingeyelashes: The larger buds were perfect. That means the smaller bits were over dry, but I dropped a Boveda into each jar. They'll all recover.

IMG_085756.JPG

212 grams in, 28 grams out. A full ounce of buds awaiting whatever need we may have for it. All dried in 48 hours or less.

IMG_085647.JPG

Now I'm gonna go smoke this tiny but pungent bud up and see how I feel when I'm done. It's been a good day. :green_heart:

I lived in Newtonville, Watertown, Belmont, and finally out past the 495.

If you are up past the 95 you won't be flooded out, but it's almot unimaginable to me what will happen to the Massachusetts economy and jobs when Watertown becomes the new coastline. Most of Cambridge and Boston underwater. Half of Boston Commons becomes an island. Harvard, MIT, BU and most of the hospitals and government buildings underwater. No airport, harbor, big dig, or subway connections. It is predicted to be a slow version of Houston that doesn't go away.

Ironically, the sea level rise is supposed to stop near the fishing weir that stopped Captain Smith from sailing upriver when he was exploring the extent of Boston harbor. That fishing weir in Watertown was the first european landfall in Massachusetts.

Waiting on the dehydrator smoke report. I have one I picked up at auction to dry garden herbs. Haven't tried it with cannabis herbs

Whadidimiss? I'll peek back a little, but not digging. Lazy.

It's become necessary to occasionally truck some in by foot from the local store. It helps to have a general idea ahead of time if I need to make a water run.

I just use my tap after letting it set for 2 days. I've always been of the opinion that there are some nutes in that water... why waste them? Perhaps misguided, but it works fine in Tead's world.

I was watching Pigeons 420 one day and he got to talking about a comment left on his budwashing video that suggested we were fooling ourselves if we thought the lemon juice and baking soda were doing any real good other than knocking off big chunks of dirt and leaving a lemony smell. The lemon juice had always concerned me, so this caught my ear.

His contention was that peroxide was what you wanted if, in fact, you were trying to clean the buds of microscopic particulars. I don't know about you, but this was my intention all along. :laughtwo:

I tracked the post and read it myself, finding it relevant enough to have discussion on. So I brought it back. An intelligent rebuttal to budwashing. I decided the argument made sense and changed my methods.

I can see the logic in his words and might jump into that mud puddle a splash around a bit. Generally, I'm just washing off stray bits of perlite from the plants, but outdoor girls or plants with a bug history get the full treatment.

we'll have Candy Cane brownies again.

Fun!

I like this schedule of about three harvests a month. A girl could get used to this.

Indeed. I was pulling at least 1 a week doing the 2L SoG. It's nice when the machine catches it's stride and all the gears are turning as they should.

I'll have the opportunity to get stores built up. The BIL is back in the hospital. He had a stroke, or better noted, a series of strokes a few weeks back that he chose to ignore until it had damaged enough of his brain cells that he's confused and he can't care for himself, and we found him emaciated and dangerously dehydrated. He's been admitted to the hospital with the goal of placing him in rehabilitation until he can return home safely.

That means if I'm supplying him anything it'll be the CBD Critical Cure capsules, meaning I'll have the chance to get a decent stock of Carnival in the jars before he's back home.

The entire experience with the stroke is unnerving to me. I get serious PTSD response to the thought that I'd be responsible for his care, and I know I can't do that. He has no one who cares enough for him to do more than see that he gets care. As much as I care, our history is a series of abusive situations that I brushed aside to see that he was at least close enough to help in a time like this, and I proceed with caution. It's a sad situation I know has little chance of ever playing out in my own life, but it sure gives you pause and makes you look at the way you treat the people that love you.

He's in an excellent facility for the night and they'll get him better care. That's the best I can hope for, and I'm thankful for that.

Hug your loved ones, and be thankful someone loves you enough to be there to hug. :circle-of-love:

OMG!

People tend to think a stroke will kill them. Unfortunately, that's not the most common response to the event. He had four that they know of during that week he insisted nothing was wrong and refused to seek medical help. I kept him pumped full of cannabinoids, high in CBD, during that week, doing all I could to mitigate the damage. Apparently it wasn't enough to keep him all there.

Frightening!
I join you a bit in your fear of this scenario.

Interesting preview of the fading coastlines. I've been contemplating this habit we humans have of building our dwellings right up to the water. It seems such a delicious option, until Mother Nature reminds you of the wisdom of placing habitats on higher ground and, if possible, into a hillside.

Centuries of historical destruction to prove the point and we jump right back into the danger zones. Humans, what are ya gonna do with us? :laughtwo:

The tiny bud I tested was one of the most flavorful of the CBD Ccs I've grown Rad. I'd crank up that dehydrator and give it a go. There were nuances I'd not noted previously, a couple mystery tones.

One of these days after I get more nutrients in hand I'm going to look into the terpene kit that gives me an identifying smell of the components, so I can better identify them. By then I'll probably have trained myself to pick them out on my own. :laughtwo:

I'll be drying part of the Candy Cane harvest tomorrow. The daughter requested a bit of flower for rec use.

Good morning everyone

Caught a couple shots in the closet jungle just before lights came on.

Devil's Carnival is the stingiest girl ever. I spend all of my waking moments drilling. Lol!

I have a great desire to get this space lightened up and more controlled. I'm thinking I can chop the tops off the Dark Slide and force her to adapt a more easily accommodating shape and get Malawi upcanned and into the finish tent. Thankfully, Dan gifted me with lights that can flower to the end, so either tent can be the finish. Hmmmmm....... some 2700K CFLs in the early tent would accelerate the whole process, wouldn't it?

I have a clone if ChemDawg to fit in. :woohoo:

Alright.... a bit of gardening joy and wonder to kickstart the morning that's already been charged with my deliberate wake-up call to the cosmos :yahoo: The steamy shower calls and the stomach is grumbling in protest. Let's get on with another day filled with opportunities to sparkle and fill the universe with a bit more love here, a touch more of unbridled joy over there, and there! Another chance to share a gentle touch of assistance and affection to smooth the path of another. It's a beautiful and vibrant cosmos looking for ways to bring more wonder into your life.

Its a vibratory universe, drawing like to like. Vibrate gratitude today and see what happens. :battingeyelashes:

it needed to be said again....

:yahoo: Good morning :yahoo:

Alrighty then, let's get to it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Tead said:

I'm assuming you do this to evaporate the chlorine? If your water has chloramines instead of chlorine, a common choice in many municipalities these days, they won't evaporate, but you can nutralize them by simply tossing in a bit of organic matter and letting it sit for all of ten minutes.

IMG_088242.JPG

I've been watching your experiment and thinking the same thing. RX Green Solutions asks that you use distilled or RO water, so I'll continue with that, but they don't need pH adjusted anyway. Since Thin Mint GSC is my remaining Osmo girl and so close to being done I'll experiment, starting today.

Wanted to share a little gardening ingenuity. :cheesygrinsmiley:

When I set up this veg shelf it was with the idea of maintaining four or five plants at a time there. Ten plus plants is stretching the limits a bit, and the leaves are crammed up against the curtain in front. Something had to give, and I still have a few days before I'll be ready to flip Malawi.

Obviously this tent is crammed full enough.

IMG_087247.JPG

There's a welcoming spot for Malawi. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_088152.JPG

She just got watered two days ago, so I want to give her time to dry out before I transplant, so I'm planning on Saturday. You see how she expanded beyond the shelf?

IMG_087542.JPG

I pulled out some bamboo poles and pipe cleaners and made a jury-rigged framework to hold the curtain away from the shelf.

IMG_087746.JPG

IMG_087845.JPG

Violá! Instant expansion of the space. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

IMG_087942.JPG

Time for breakfast. :ciao:

That chloramine-nutralized water I mentioned earlier needs to be strained before pouring onto the hempy perlite. I do that with a funnel and a folded piece of paper towel.

IMG_088544.JPG

I heard the cry for more root space screaming from the back of the shelf and dropped Dark Slide into a five-gallon pot. She was definately root bound in that one gallon of medium.

IMG_088636.JPG

IMG_088741.JPG

That necessitated another rearrangement of the space, a daily dance around here these days.

IMG_088840.JPG

If I stop cloning everyone I might stand a chance of getting ahead. I have a clone of ChemDawg on its way with Hash Hound, so I'll have one more to squeeze in. I've been considering the idea of bonsai mothers again. Just a matter of figuring out where to keep them. I'm already at four spaces. Lol!

I'm a clone hoarder too, Sue

I often take 2 cuts of each plant out of fear of letting that "holy grail" get away. Then all cuttings live and I get over crowded because throwing out a viable plant is like having a pet put down to me.

I love your variety lately. Looks like everything from turnip greens to bamboo up in there. And very healthy too. Great work as always.

Sue: You did what I did to give my veg unit more room. Great minds, lady! :thumb:

:thumb: It was pure inspiration. I was hanging up a shirt and spotted those poles behind the door. Next thing I knew they were up and running. :laughtwo:

Hey SuperSue...just back from camping...I needed it

I was pleased as punch. Pleased enough that I'll be doing my next harvest like that too. I'll probably do all of my harvests like that, depending on the results of my next Carnival harvest. It'll be the strain I'll be able to determine the differences best with. CBD Critical Cure effects me best as infused oil, and FHO at that. I'll make a batch of 36-Hr and see how it compares.

Last night's sample was more fragrant and tastier than I usually get this early on, and it did something I never had happen with the strain. It put me down and in bed within 30 minutes. I was talking to the daughter and she watched me slow to a halt in the middle of a sentence. Lol! Never had that happen before. I'll test another piece tonight. Last night I was coming off a night of only 4 hrs sleep, but still. It's something I'd never had happen before. The daughter was amazed and thoroughly entertained watching it happen. :laughtwo:

Trimmed down the buds dried enough in one cycle of 12 -24 to get them jarred. Once I'm certain the humidity is stable I'll throw a jar into the dark bucket with the branch I have hanging and leave it all alone for two months.

Remember my resolution to stop expanding my grow?

Hash Hound stopped by today with his lovely lady friend and brought me a present. Well, he brought me a few presents, but more on that later. :battingeyelashes: This was the big gift. The Clone King called this Chem Dawg cutting "ready!"

IMG_088941.JPG

Good Lord, she's a monster already! :thedoubletake: We got to know each other a little better on the floor as the three of us caught up and shared some of the low and slo dried Ultra Dawg.

IMG_089147.JPG

Then I cut the leaders off. She's waaaayyyy too lanky for my garden.

IMG_089244.JPG

Better. We visited a while longer and they had to head home. As I came back into the living room after saying our goodbyes I picked the trimmers up again.

IMG_089335.JPG

Much better. Now she looks like something I can fit into the tents with other beauties.

IMG_089645.JPG

Potted up in a gallon of soil she found a spot in the crowded veg area. Changes will be afoot in here before the end of the week.

IMG_089738.JPG

IMG_089839.JPG

I started by pulling this sad specimen. For one, why keep going with something this damaged? For another, I discovered I was mistaken about the CBD values, which I've learned are negligible. I purchased these two years back and have no idea how I got so confused about them. Since then there are much better options. I'll get Candida seeds and try with her. Hard to beat almost pure CBD.

IMG_090045.JPG

As I turned away from the packed shelf I remembered my proclamation of "no more soil plants!" Hmmmm..... She's too healthy to toss, and I've already planted her in a gallon with a Transwater drench and dropped her into the loving embrace of her canna cousins. I can't pull her now.

But it I can clone her and do a side-by-side comparison of soil to hempy.

IMG_090144.JPG

See what I mean? How do I slow this down? :laughtwo: I'm looking around for a "Starter Space" under CFLs. Lol! What I'm considering is doing another pair of flowering plants in the tiny closet when the current pair come down. It means I give up DDA for a time, but it's not like I don't have many other options to help me get through.

IMG_090234.JPG

That wonderful Hash Hound brought me his last bit of his last bud of Chem Dawg. How sweet is that? :battingeyelashes:

IMG_090327.JPG

IMG_090436.JPG

He also brought a mystery bud of origin unknown to me. He couldn't remember the name, so I'm assuming it wasn't something he grew himself.

IMG_090540.JPG

That's the bud I'm enjoying now. Delicious enough to the smell when pinched that I went out and cleaned the bong. I couldn't believe that chore hadn't occured to me before company arrived, but no one noticed. Lol!

IMG_090939.JPG

IMG_090734.JPG

IMG_090850.JPG

A pleasant buzz, filled with a renewed sense of gratitude for all the wonder in my life. Must be the Linaloo, which is what I'm assuming that lovely floral sweetness I'm smelling is attributable to. I hadn't considered that terpene as one to trigger such contentment and appreciation. This is feeling blessed magnified. Very nice.

IMG_091350.JPG

IMG_091444.JPG

I only got halfway through that tiny piece, four teeny hits, and I had to put it down. Extra nice. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Thank you Hash Hound. You turned a regular joyful day into something special. This mystery bud will fuel the evening's walk with friends in just a little while, which culminates in dinner out together and spirited conversation.

Gee wiz...... my life keeps getting better and better. :hugs:

The mystery buds only a mystery to me. :laughtwo: Hash Hound grew it outdoors. Sugar Black Rose Auto.
