SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Something Ive discovered is that there is a direct relationship between thc anxiety effects and the amount of sugars in my system. A reduced sugar/carb diet makes the experience much more pleasant.
Good to know. I appreciate real world experience.

What was a helpful step in confirming this:

Went a couple of days with much reduced sugar / carbs.
Did a couple of doses of my usual 5:10 mix and was feeling very pleasant.
Had a high sugar snack. (specifically to test this theory)
Whammo -

I picked up a CBD strain that has a SLH parent.

I'm not an authority on the subject of absorption, but I'd say atleast an hour for me sometimes almost two hours.

Sounds like a good choice, and now I'm curious about how the SLH was for you?

The liquid sunflower lecithin improves absorbtion efficiency and also lends something of a time-release quality, so you'll feel it sooner and it'll last longer than without the LSL.

Absorbtion.....I've just spent the day reading about enterocytes and the absorption of Virgin Olive Oil to walk into the room in the middle of a discussion on absorption. Lol! That's almost too rich.

Im not an authority on anything :green_heart:
.

None of us are. Lol! Lab rats set loose, every one of us. :battingeyelashes:

Final point is there is some interesting info about micro dosing at the last line in my signature. Less is more as they say.

The new motto to cannabis therapeutics is

Start low

Go slow

Stay low

More incentive to limit sugars and starches, eh?

SLH was my first grow. I’ll never forget that sweet citrus smell like lemon heads candy. It makes my mouth water thinking about it, actually. I understand you have helped some people with depression Sue. Carnival, I believe, was the strain I believe you were using at the time.

I was hoping you might also be able to lend your input on coconut oil and my lack of a gallbladder we discussed just a little earlier in this thread. I know you’re busy getting settled in to the new digs. Thank you for all you do!

I’m not sure what your question is Archiweedies. Are you getting sufficiently buzzed? I have no gallbladder as well, but that’s never kept me from getting the euphoric effect I’m after.

Contemplating your thoughts on the liver picking up the slack for the missing gallbladder made me wonder if in fact it may cause me to get to a higher level of euphoria. Lol! There’s likely to be more chance of 11-OH-THC hitting the bloodstream.

I’m always looking for ways to avoid metabolism by the liver enzymes, one of the reasons we tend to build our canna medicines with EVOO instead of coconut oil, and choose methods of competitive inhibition. All in hopes of keeping more cannabinoids circulating.

Thanks Sue, no mam I am not getting sufficiently buzzed. My “test group” all took 2 caps. My sons tolerance is probably the closest to mine. I’m Willie Nelson okay guys :p ! I have taken up to 6 of the current capsules I have and up to 10 of the previous batch.
My tolerance is probably astronomical and it’s not something I say with a great deal of pride.

Oldbear kindly shared a very interesting thread on resetting my tolerance. I used 28g, 2 cups coconut oil, 1 tbsp LSL. Magic butter machine 4 hour setting. Decarb was done prior at 250F 30 mins.

I guess the real question is: Is this too weak a recipe for someone with my tolerance or is something preventing me from receiving the full effect when infused in coconut oil?

For reference, 1/2tbsp of AVB from my Silver Surfer Vape sends me on a wonderful and relaxing high.

I’m too tired and high right now to calculate Archiweedies. Lol! I did have a question though before I slip off to bed...what’s your intention and expectation when you’re using cannabis?

Building a medical regimen often contains a plan to limit euphoria, where recreational use pretty much demands a level of euphoria appropriate to the setting. The sensitization protocol is always a good idea if your goal is more efficient use of the cannabinoids. You’re almost guaranteed to cut your tolerance by half.

Thanks for your time and I hope I didnt keep you up! My goal is mostly recreational, but I am slowly learning certain terpenes can be used to help with certain conditions. Depression is my largest concern as of late. I have recently learned I have sever sleep apnea, which could at the least be contributing to my depression if not causing it. Of course, there is the consideration that cannabis is causing my depression...

The test revealed I had 51 "events" an hour. An event is defined as 10 or more seconds where oxygen levels drop to a predetermined level. 30 or more is considered severe. Ive got a buddy that swears his life changed once he got his machine and started sleeping better. My doctor also recently prescribed me welbutrin (sp?) for depression. :(

Hi archi fwiw I have sleep apnea. I tested at 26 an hour. When you stop breathing like that it stresses your entire system a lot.

Hopefully you can get the cpap machine you need to improve this. You need to reset / recalibrate your entire system which will take a month or so of use.

Thank you for the encouragement Oldbear! I need a reset, apparently in several ways ;). I have read enough to get me in trouble over on the ecs reset thread and Im about ready to jump on the bandwagon. The amount of support over there is crazy!!

One suggestion based on what Ive been told by white coats:

Dont do new cpap machine and ecs reset at the same time. I recommend cpap first - thats where the bigger health risks are. After a week or two possibly start a cannabis reduction. Then after a month try the reset.

Best wishes on all fronts....:thumb:

Forgot the disclaimer lol this is not medical advice just random sharing about something I saw on the inet.
Not endorsed by the FDA lol

When my bride of 45 years told me she wanted me to do a reset I thought she was trading me in for a 20 year old with hair and abs. Turns our her tablet was stuck and needed a reboot.

Haha hilarious!! I like you're style Oldbear!
Thank you for your empathy. Unfortunately I'll be waiting until early December to have an in-lab sleep study done so that they can fine tune my CPAP. Then the wait for my machine begins. Curious if, after hearing that, your advice changes at all? Still wait to get the sleep sorted?

There’s a 9-part documentary beginning on Nov 13 that may be of interest to some members. The initial showing is free, as in all these ventures. I’ll do my best to pull as much information as possible from the episodes.

IThrive: Rising from the depths of diabetes and obesity

Then we can figure out the best way to use cannabis therapeutics to help the body along in the journey back to health and wholeness. We already know that the maintenance dose for Type 2 diabetes is 50 mg of THCV every 8 hours.

One of these days I’ll chase down the Green Flower Media video that mentioned that dose. It came from a woman physician, but that’s all I remember, other than she was black. That ought to make it easier to find. Lol!

Sounds like you've got plenty of time to experiment...
I went through a severe depression a few months ago that just completely shut down my body. I've never had issues with depression before. Based on my brain and body feelings, I didn't even hesitate to take the pills (that's how bad it got), even though I had always been against them. Is it good or bad, I don't know??? But I can tell you I couldn't function before and now I can. Don't brush off your doctor, they do want to help.
:goodluck:
