SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

The oil is coming along nicely. What temp do you use to evaporate the solvent?

I started with the oil distiller and then went to a double boiler. Next time I can afford it I'm buying an induction cooktop. I'm pretty sure these non-stick ceramic pans I have will work on an induction surface.

The initial wash measured 2.5 cups, and I reclaimed 1 1/4 cups of that. Still trying to figure out how much to leave when I pull the plug. I could have let it go longer, but I had first-time jitters. I'll have a more complete post with pictures and narrative later. I sloshed about 1/4 cup getting it set up on the double boiler. At that point there's only boiling water under the pan. When it needs reheated I carry the pot of water back to the kitchen, bring it to a boil and bring it back in here. I don't have a vent over my stove and the kitchen window is closed to accommodate the air conditioner, or I'd just set the whole shebang up on the stove and simply turn the fire on and off as needed.

The induction cooktop will make my life much easier. It will also go with me when I finally move, so I can potentially start over without a stove.

The room smells absolutely divine. Mmmmm..... I can definately smell the Auto Jack Herer in the mix. It's coming out a beautiful golden color and looking like I might get enough to keep me in capsules for almost four months. I'm hoping.

On Thursday at 5PM PST (8PM EST) Green Fower Media is offering a free live-streaming class on Treating Sick Kids With Cannabis with their host Max Simon and Tracey Ryan, CEO of CannaKids. The class will be offered on DVD at a reasonable price following this free showing, if you miss it or want a copy of it.

This looks like a good one for the files.

I could not agree more!! I swear this is the best thing ( next to meeting SUE ) that has happened to me. The Green Flower is just the best!! I love them :circle-of-love:

My wife concocts "cough syrup" for me when I get a cold or sore throat. It always has honey, cinnamon, bourbon, cayenne, & fresh ground ginger. She adjusts it based on my symptoms. I can't remember what exactly it helps with but the fresh ground ginger is important to the effectiveness.

Once I get enough stash buildup where I can keep a constant source of canni-oil, I think I'll see what adding some to the mix might help.

Sent from this funny device I carry around and still call a phone even though I hardly ever make calls with it.

I have an old Irish one too..

2 fingers of whiskey
same amount of hot water
a slice of lemon with clovers stuck to it...
Down it goes and go to bed!!

4 months of meds. That's awesome Sue!

The induction cook top looks awesome! I like how some appear to have a digital temp readout. I use a skillet that has 4"sides on it and has a lid. I don't use the lid to make oil though. I put water in that one, then put a square Pyrex dish in the water. Pour the liquid into the square Pyrex. I keep the water temp in the "double boiler" so when it heats up it just starts boiling then turns off, then it will repeat.

Great looking oil Sue, just about a filter away from looking like full on Amber, not that the goal is pure amber.
Great Job, Great Teacher!

I made my second batch ever last night, and the winterization does seem to make a difference in clarity visually.

So how did that alcohol still work out for your Oil production Sue?
More hassle than the required effort considering the volume processed?

I'm interested in it's efficiency as CCO production may become a regular event if it proves to be of high efficacy for my son.

Also, I've read most things you have written the past two years or so, but I don't recall ...
Have your tried 99% Isopropyl vice Ethanol as the solvent agent in your CCO production? If so, any comments?

I have two fully decarbed CCO batches in two glass oral syringes now, one containing 2.5ml (after eating .5ml last week ... too large of a dose for a CCO Noob!), and the latest batch yielded a 5.25ml. I made this batch with a full whole plant including roots, washed and hung dried for a week (yes, washing cannabis doesn't ruin it), dried and coarsely chopped and lightly ground. The trunk is some tough ass fiber, no wonder it makes awesome ropes.

Just what you need, more questions to answer!

I just ordered a couple high-CBD strain seeds and I just had to tell someone who'd understand! I'm excited to get them started. I think I'll start the Harlesin when it gets here and then the Dinafem Industrial Plant Auto CBD 30 days down the road from that. If anyone knows of anyone who has grown the Harlesin, please point them or me in each other's direction. I'm unable to find much on the strain here, or anywhere else for that matter. Love to all of you. Keep on keepin on!

Almost done. I have a BioBomb Brownie defrosting to soak up the traces. :woohoo:

Sometimes I wonder if using a system like GitBook would be useful for consolidating the research, recipes, and preparation methods. I'm struggling to keep up with the forum/discussion board method. :/

I was looking into the same thing.. at the moment I have it stored in a pc folder.. but..what if... A lot of info collected and stored..

I am searching..

High all.
Hope today find you all blessed.
I see your all keeping on...
Congrats.

Hey stranger, good to see you're still alive. If you read this and you have the time, we'd appreciate it if you'd check out our BioBomb capsule formulations and give us your thoughts. We think we've come up with something that gets the lecithin in there without throwing off the ratios.

You keep sneaking in and out on me Mon Ami. I'm assuming all's well with you. :laughtwo:

:hugs:

Here's an example of how GitBook can be used.. Read Me | Redux and the real neat thing are the back-end tools through GitHub which allow for discussion based on specific points and all edits are recorded throughout and easily added/reverted as necessary.

A disappointing yield, less than 2 grams, but this was an ounce cobbled together from a variety of leftovers, some of that over a year old that was found out of place by a friend and sent on to me. Hard to be disappointed with that much generosity behind it.

It's also difficult to be let down when you're this high. :laughtwo: I dropped a toothpick into the oil and without thinking I scrapped the excess off and popped it in my mouth to suck the oil off it. Can't waste any now, can we? :laughtwo: That, of course, happened after I'd been licking up spills and dribbles. Yep! Pretty darned buzzed right now, and that'll increase as I begin to digest all of that oil.

I also had a brownie soaked with drippings. Whew! May have overdone it even for SweetSue. :laughtwo:

Tonight I'll mix up the BioBomb and tomorrow morning I'll make what capsules I can. If I mix it up using the old recipe, which works well for me, I can stretch it to get me through the next two months, at least. Too far away to begin worrying about running out. Anything can happen between now and then, and probably will :battingeyelashes:

I'll do a more complete post later.

Juan, I understand the concern. This thread was intended to be the brainstorming part. My plan all along was to start a thread with the answers to all those questions when we got to some workable point. In the meantime I can set up a section of my blog to contain the formulas and recipes we develop. I'll let you know when I get that done. It'll be a couple days while I reorganize.

I have read about it.. My concern is.. I don't want it all to be public..and I want it to be free.... not because I am scrooge..just because I can't pay...
I am looking into other sites too.

First I need to learn how to understand what I'm reading in the explaination of how it works Juan. That was like reading a foreign language to someone as marginally computer literate as myself. I'll make the effort to understand it and see if it's something we can utilize. Thank you for introducing me to the world of modern communications tools.

Think of it like this..
You want to write a book or keep a diary..
Instead of using a pen.. you store it online.
Pay for it and you have it private.. free= everyone can read.

It is a good thing.. all the info in case pc needs a format.. you have it collected in one place.

:circle-of-love: Sue!! Have I told you lately that you are such an inspiration to me? I was talking to a friend about the Harlitsu (which I might rename HarlitSUE when I get it). He says he had bad mold exposure at one time and it still hits him with body pains and other symptoms. He can't even go into a shop willing has mold anywhere. He said he had been looking for CBD because when he had tried some out west it abrogated his symptoms! I HAVE to get this strain now! I told him I would supply him with what I could for free. In capsule form for daily and some rosin for quick action. My first legit medical patient. I am ordering as soon as my paycheck comes at the end of the month! It's amazing how you create a thought and suddenly the universe supplies the need! Keep pushing me Sue. The universe is begging me to help this man! I am so inspired!

I have many thoughts concerning the data collection repository problem, and they have been formed during my many hours of research among hundreds of threads and dozens of websites concerning MM. It almost seems like an extension of a segment of my career, and I just retired a few weeks ago! Hmmm ... noooooo not work again!

Where do I start relating my thoughts on the matter ...

DBMS - What database should be used? Access, MySQL, Oracle, etc. It seems a DBA (DataBase Admin) Web Developer would be a requirement, not a mundane task by any means. The database(s) must be located on 420 Magazine servers, as even this sentence is the legal property of site. I don't think 420Magazine is going to fold anytime soon, they seem to have the best practices and controls in place compared to anything else I've viewed on the WWW. Advertising and support seem first class, also a tribute to daily visitors and content quality. Also, since 420Magazine is the owner of these words, the considerable efforts required to assimilate and report the information would not be lost to fly by night WebHosts.

Even if Sue writes the most inclusive and accurate information gleaned from hundreds of experiences and informational posts, how could the distillation of her data be made available to the masses inside of 420Magazine? One of the business organizations I once worked with struggled with a similar problem, albeit not MM related. I've read the 420Magazine Mission Statement, it is succinct and deliberately open minded concerning Cannabis uses and MM information sharing. I would think 420 Magazine desires to support this type of development both for members use and for enrichment of their content in comparison to their competitors. Perhaps a Moderator or Employee of 420Magazine might have more insight as to the desirability and capability of 420Magazine hosting this MM database content. I think the "Where" is one of four nuts to crack, and is easiest to answer since the content is already owned. I'll not venture into copyright and liability as that is legal territory and I learned long ago I never wanted to be an attorney.

Perhaps the current "thread" structure of this public forum software might already provide hooks into a real back-end database, as least as it relates to the formalization of thread posts and links into searchable and filterable database content. Internet Forum software comes in many flavors, but most of them are designed around the requirement to search Text for Tags, and Images for Metadata (420Magazine currently strips metadata from images upon upload for very good reasons, thank you for looking out).

Perhaps the search feature inherent to most Internet Forum software could be utilized if the given "thread" is read-only excepting the author(s)? I know, more questions than answers, but this is a privately owned site and we need to most likely ask the owners and operators the right questions. Chances are this very subject has been yakked about during many a Monday morning meeting ad nauseum.

Any thoughts or desires Sue? I'm sure you wield more cred with 420Magazine than most other active members. Honestly, I am here because I found your thread the most mature, professional and still friendly concerning MM. Whew ... did I really just say anything, or did I just perform a mind dump concerning the frustration of finding quality information concerning MM production, use and benefits?

To quote you Sue, we are often playing the roles of live lab rats.

Oops ... did I just hijack your thread? Damn Keith, where have your manners gone? Sorry if this went in a undesired direction.

Keith

Have you guys seen that Whoopi Goldberg and another lady are making vaginal suppositories with mmj, for menstrual cramping?!

One of my daughters brought that product to my attention this past weekend, she has Endometriosis. I told her I would look into it after I tried to help her brother that struggles daily, not monthly. Well, gauging her response, I guess it is her time of the month! My kids, always keeping me engaged ... but I do love it really.

Please post if you try anything with either her product, or your own cocoa butter based infusion ... please?

Kids ... always wanting an equal share of Daddy.

Keith
