Superoots Air Pots vs Smart Pots

I guess I could get 3 in there, just need to move the carbon filter a little bit. I will order another tonight but the 3rd will just have to wait a week or 2, thanks for the help
oh yeah, plenty of room there. That would look nice.

I just ordered one more from Amazon and it will be here tomorrow, the other will just have to wait until next week. Thanks for all the help and its greatly appreciated
That's great man! Just two of them will work awesome to get your grow started. Two would be great through the veg cycle. I would just want that third one when it comes time for flower. You made a good choice man you really did. You won't be sorry. If you do a grow Journal and we help you through it to get you a good size Harvest your lights cost will be a drop in the bucket for the amount of Bud you are rewarded with LOL

Thanks so much for the help and as I said its greatly appreciated. I will get the 3rd one next week. I do have another question though, I bought a Hydrofarm FLT22 EnviroGro T5 2ft 2 Tube Fixture with full daylight 6400K spectrum bulbs for seedling and veg in my other tent, will this possibly work or did I mess up again. Thanks

It will work yes. Keep the T5's close to the plants..Like within a few inches. I would only pop the seedling and limit veg to a few weeks under it. After that they will be far better off under the LED's to get bigger and bushy. What size is your seedling tent?

The seedling veg tent is 24x48x60 but I can put a divider wall to make smaller if needed

If you decide on air pots, get the original air pots because they don't have holes in the first couple rows - so when watering it prevents the water coming out the top holes. I prefer air pots because they're hard plastic, they never wear out, they don't have to be raised off the floor and it's easier moving the plants around. Moving a smart pot around is like moving a soft sided bag with mud in it. I also agree with one of the posters - cover them in pantyhose to prevent fungus gnats.

i also had some new 3 gallon fab pots, and cut out a bottom for these too. So the medium doesnt fall thru the bottom so easily.

I purchased the fox farms oceans forest and happy frog for grow, would that be good for the grow and with the superoots air pots

Sure, absolutly. Just make sure not to over water, and let dry out before watering again. I like cocoloco. best of both worlds of soil and coco. And also know, you can literally grow a plant from start to finish decently with absolutly nothing but 6.5 RO water. It needs very little nutes. So dont start really feeding till flower, and can even start 2 weeks before flowering, adding your flower nutes. Really no need for Veg nutes with the FFOF. Of course dependent on light, more light,= more roots=more nutes eatn from the soil.

I found that the holes in the bottom of the Airpots were very large
So I laid down a sigle layer of cheesecloth to prevent my coco from falling through
I used screening that was left over when I re-screened my porch. Cut circles and attached them to the bottoms with a hot-melt glue gun - worked like a charm.

So would you recommend Cocoloco over the Fox farm soils that I purchased or just stick with what I have

Thanks, I didn't even think about screen, I even have some laying around. Thanks

May as well stick with what you have for now. Just read up on how to water correctly because that is a new growers biggest obstacle. Watering incorrectly can cause HUGE soil issues. Here is a perfect read on how to correctly water and how often. This is very important.

I cannot comprehend why people start a grow with a very rich organic soil like Fox Farm Ocean Forrest soil and then grow with synthetic nutes....Nothing like salting up and killing all microlife in an organic soil. Why not just start off with soiless?

So what should I go with, I thought I read on here to star seedling with happy frog and graduate to the oceans forest. By the way I received to more of the led light today and now I have the 3 installed as you suggested. Please give input on soil as once again thought I was doing right by what I have read and been told

You are doing fine. Glad to hear you got your new lights so fast! You must be Prime member. You have the right idea with your soil. If it were me I would probably start them off in a mix of both soils with 50% each. You are just fine though. The reason for me talkin about growing with synthetic nutrients won't affect your grow. I was simply saying that because in my eyes as mixing two growing types together. You're starting off with a good organic soil but feeding synthetic nutrients. Do you know what I mean? If I were starting off in organic soil I would just do an all organic grow if it were me but that's down the road. You are on the right track now that you have some extra light.

Ok Fanleaf I have had all 3 led lights running for about an hour with slight negative pressure and temps holding at 75 to 76. Is that ok

Yes a prime member, like I said in the last post been running all 3 lights with slight negative pressure and temps are holding at 75. I will be able to order my superoots air pots next week. Thanks much for all the help and wish me luck. Take care and thanks for all the help

That's perfect. I like to grow somewhat cooler than a lot of growers. In veg I like to keep the canopy temp from 75-80 with humidity around 60%+. Flower I like to keep the canopy at 75-77 degrees with lower humidity. I don't know if you have one but they are cheap to pick up if you get one of the indoor outdoor thermometers that have a little temperature probe hanging from like a 6ft wire. That way you can leave that probe hang right around your canopy level so you know what temperature it is at the top of your plants at all times.
