Stunger's Organic Balcony: Growing Daughters Of Mulanje: Watering Via Root Aeration Chambers

@Stunger , I usually take everything off also.
I make a couple of cobs after about 48 hrs of hang drying and then make the rest after 4 or 5 days of drying.

Even almost dry weed will ferment eventually though you won't get moisture appearing. I've vacuumed weed for a friend that we thought was dry enough for storage, only to find after a year of sitting in a warm drawer it had fermented nicely.

These days I turn all my harvest into cobs. Friends are amazed at the difference compared to smoking regular cured weed, (most are used to smoking only hybrids, so super powerful Sativas are a new experience to them).

Your post prompted me to break out some of the Godfather OG cob that I made 2 years ago. It was rated at 30% THC, but I think such ratings without showing verification via a lab report are hard to accept when there is so much obvious false claims being made, honest lab reports would help us all get a more believable idea of the true potency.

It is amazing that you can cut of a small piece of a cob, chew it and get a good buzz off it for a few hours, when it has never been purposefully decarbed. I very much look forward to making cobs from Sativa bud, because after my last grow it has been the sativa bud that I most enjoy. Altho, in saying that my experience with different strains has been very minimal so I am still open to experience some outstanding hybrids or pure indicas to see what they can bring to the experience.

Here is a bud shot of the Godfather OG, it did produce very pretty colas with some attractive deep purple colouration.

And some pics of the Cob that I broke open to test

I am currently enjoying a nice buzz from consuming that little bit, and I feel no need to have a vape. I imagine cobs made from good sativa buds will be even better. However I am very much attracted to the delivery of the high via consumption, rather than via inhaling into the lungs. I no longer combust and usually just vape and chew decarbed bud before sleep. But as age takes it's toll, cobs become very ideal as an alternative, plus I think too that they're probably a lot easier than jars to store/secret away. Cheers.

That's a nice looking cob brother.
2 yrs is a good age. It looks like it has developed the sparkly bits on the outside.

As you know, one of the beauties of cobs is that they improve with age if stored correctly. I tend to cut off 5g or so, which I keep in a little jar; the rest gets re vacuumed and is left to age.
I currently have 8 little jars on the go and alternate between them. All Sativas.

Golden Tiger,
Mulanje x Malawi/Ethiopian,
Malawi + Super Malawi haze,
New Caledonia,
Panama,
Zacateca Tribute,
Zamal x Tom Hill Haze
and Original Haze

I'm still vaping a little, but predominately just eat it and am using a miniscule amount to my smoking days.

I have no experience with hybrid or Indica cobs, but know that Sativas will "bend you silly!"

😀

What a lovely selection of bend you silly strains!

I was meaning to ask what you did after opening a sealed cob. When my cobs were in the early stage I would remove a little bit to test, then re vac/seal the rest up again which was a bit of a pain. But now as they are 2 years old, the one I opened was a 'half cob', so I have left it in an open glass bowl in a cupboard with the idea that it should be dry enough to stay there without developing mold, and at least being open it means I can regularly start using it. If it doesn't behave itself then I will keep a bit and vac/seal the rest up again.

Of those 8 strains, I am guessing that all would be great and have their individual good points. But for you, is there 1 or 2 that are standouts from the rest? If I had to guess, maybe the Zamal x Tom Hill Haze? As Zamaldelica is a strain that gets a lot of praise, especially for the strong psychedelic side.

@Stunger , I think that your cob was a little too damp still when it went in it's bag to age. Usually when I open a well aged cob I would expect it to be almost dry. The outside should be tacky like a piece of good hash and if you broke it in half it would be dry enough to smoke; some moisture but in no way enough that I'd be concerned that it could get mouldy. It's surprising how much moisture remains in a "dry" cob.
If we have too much moisture inside a "dry" cob that's being sealed for aging, then it's likely that it will carry on fermenting, albeit slowly. Not really what we want. Ideally when we get the smell we want we dry them sufficiently so as to stop further fermentation.

The stand out strains would be.

As you rightly say the, zamal x Tom Hill has is a little lysergic. Lot's of energy. And strong

Mulanje x Malawi/Ethiopian is energetic and euphoric.

Golden tiger, very strong! Perhaps more introverted than the zamal.

Zacateca is warm and sociable and a bit giggly, good party high.

The original haze is a superb high, possibly my favourite ever in almost 50 yrs, not the strongest, but so clear and euphoric and a little trippy. It's the youngest of all my cobs at only 3 months old so not yet at it's best, but is my current favourite.

The New Caledonian is very spacey and great for the beach.

The Malawi + Super Malawi haze is stupidly strong and is great for when I want to be messed up!

All the cobs are very strong and even small amounts can mess up regular smokers if they're not careful with it.

My wife has been getting high for 25 yrs, she no longer smokes or vapes and finds 30-60mg a really good 8 hr dose (today she's had 50mg of Zamal x Tom Hill Haze followed by another 60mg 3 hours later and is stupidly high. She's done loads of cleaning, we've been out for a good walk and now she's excited about starting cooking soon.).

I grew Zamaldelicia a couple of years ago but the grew was not one of my better ones. It was a good smoke, but the Golden tiger was better. I've still some more beans so will try it again at some point. (Hopefully)
Yesterday I secured some Cannabiogen Destroyer seeds!

Apologies for hijacking for thread. I'm bent silly and getting more so by the minute.

yeah ,i second that dv8 , real drool effect
im going to check out the cob in the internet, sounds interesting, might try it myself next harvest , thanks for the idea :Namaste::peace:

I was thinking the same thing. The Cob thing sounds intriguing and I love the idea of being high for 8 hours. I've had @DrDoob's recipe bookmarked for a long time now. And, I'll be growing some Ace strains this year so maybe I'll finally try it.

Update - It's a fine day, some pictures!

Greetings 420 enthusiasts! We're getting closer to the 'pointy' end of the grow and currently having a mostly sunny day, so here's a few pictures!

Mulanje HP

Wow! That is one wide plant. Good thing you don't have to move it in and out of your home the way Shed does with his.
