Stick A Pineapple Where The Sun Don't Shine - In A Grow Box!

OK an extra couple days late, but here we go!!
Not a helluva lot going on grow wise; the stunted girls are still alive, but still stunted. The GT fem is going really slowly. Trying to remember if she was too close to the light also... Pretty sure she wasn't, a week maybe?? Have to go back and and look on here. She's just tiny, at node 4, almost week 4. Nah she wasn't in that group. So I don't know... She was upcanned the other day, and had some great roots (see pic). Hopefully she'll take off soon..
I turned the light right back to like 35%; was thinking maybe the GTF could use a stretch, but the new ones have stretched a bit; nothing too bad. The Critical Kush Auto has recovered pretty much, or at least, seems to be doing ok. Jumped a bit in size, so pretty hardy.
God; I hope I haven't blown the GT fem..!!
Planning to flip the lot this weekend, and I'll crank the light back up a bit higher... Gotta get rolling, and hope GTF kicks into gear..

Whilst nothing is really going on, and veg light-schedule is still running, I decided to replace the already-heavily-modified old ceiling with a new, single piece of material, and re-do my extraction, doubling to 8 PC fans.
I made a new timber case, lined the bottom (cab-side) with geo-cloth and flyscreen, put some timber beading at the the bottom, to provide a bit of space between the cloth and the fans. It also allowed me to use some wide-spaced steel mesh to sit all the fans on. The mesh sits on the beading.
Worked out pretty well in the end, and I now have shit-loads of extraction. On paper, I should have around 300CFM, give or take. I can watch the sprouts waving in the breeze just from the draught, so I'm happy. Looks pretty pro, too. Sort of!
Pics should all be in order....
First pics are of the GT reg seeds, just after popping.. Then, and oldest to newest of the current plants from the last couple weeks. The stunters and GT fem (GTF) were upcanned on sunday..
The rest are the cab, obviously....

Wow again.. Always looks like heaps when I space them all out like that!
Hopefully the new, reinforced extraction will do the job. They are set up in 2 arrays of 4 fans. I can fully adjust four of them, and in winter just unplug the other four.. It does seems to work awesome.
I just keep kicking myself over that light! I KNEW it was bright; I KNEW it was strong.. I just completely forgot about it being adjustable!! Oh well. A lesson learned.

Grizz; how do you use your light?? Full-boar or half?? My biggest problem (well; ONE of the big problems!) is I keep under-estimating (over-estimating?) just how small my cab is.. Light turned down, extraction turned up. That should help things, right??

Shit; I need some space and some cash...
I wish I could figure out this GT fem...... So SLOW.. Just sativa-behaviour??
Anyway, that's it for now!

Nice update.. I haven't touched the dimmer and can't see using it ever  I've ordered couple more...

That's funny.
Yeah I had no probs with the the first couple rounds under this light..
At this point, it's just that the GTF is so slow. Only couple inches high! No other problems... Stunting those plant scared the shit out of me; I'm being careful!! Probly too careful.. Might put it back to 50%. Otherwise, all healthy... Just slow and small!!
Gonna start doing at least 1 plant in soil starting soon. Gotta get some ready. Gotta get that Lifeforce gear... Been drooling over that for ages!

And, as usual, I clicked why the slow growth. Yes, Grizz; the penny dropped. Not ENOUGH light, now..
After freaking out about the stunters, I failed to get the point that the OTHER plants WEREN'T stunted, and therefore needed MORE light!
So, yeah; I got there in the end.
Cranked it to 75% (for now); and all good, they've all kicked off a bit in the last couple days..

And, as they do, ones thoughts turn to new ideas..
I wanna do a true hydro DWC, nothing full-on, but a small 4 plant rig (that will fit in my box, obviously), and I maybe do for plants minimal veg or 12/12, alongside an organic soil grow.
If I keep the hydro girls small, I might get away with it... I reckon it'd be fun; I can definitely learn more from the experience, and maybe get some quick(ish) turnover weed.. The soil grow would be for my "Good" plants...
Gonna sus out some similar ideas on the net and see, I see no reason I couldn't do it... I've had 4 huge plants at a time in there.. (See I think my first Journal; the Scotts OG one... Did pretty well on that in the end on the ever-reliable grams-per-watt scale..)
Speaking of grams-per-watt; I was thinking at work the other day, after reading some article from a Seedsman email about growing, I reckon I get a minimum of .5...operative word there being "minimum".
Yeah, still at beginner level, but a couple grows have worked out to about .7ish..
I guess that's what got me thinking about the DWC thing.. Small tub; pump, which I've got; couple air-stones, perlite, net pots, couple of top-ups and a res change every week; 4 plants....
Could push that gpw minimum up a touch....
Especially if I can stop freaking out and changing everything every couple weeks...!

I'm excited about the extra ventilation, actually. I know I should get a proper fan, but for the money, which has been minimal so far (even with 3 "upgrades"; I shoulda just put 6 or 8 in in the first place), the saving on space alone (fan, ducting) is worth another shot.
She'll be hot this season. I'm dreading it, frankly. I gotta buy a 5 litre water jug for work...
The extra ventilation will be needed, no question.
That's it... Just had to own-up to being an idiot with my light, really.. And ask about the DWC idea.... I'll get a couple of pics up tomorrow.
Cheers!

Cowboys for me. Be a good game.

Yeah,ouch.. chambers is underrated..

Halfway through first and looks like storm are going to open this game right up.. looks like it a hidings about to happen..

And a minute after posting, storm get their second try :rofl:

Yeah good game.. Poor Cowboys; I thought it'd be a closer scoreline. Storm too clinical all season..
Well done..

Sorry! Didn't see this before bed!

Total is about 1600; but I have a false floor for air intake, about a hundy, and a false ceiling to hide fans, wiring etc, so about another 100. I'll have to double check, but around 13-1400mm total internal height...
If I minus the 300/400mm for your average tub, that'll leave me around a metre... Just enough to give some space under the light in the beginning..
If I can get a low profile tub that's only 200/250 high, I'll be stoked. I have seen them; there's those ones made to go under a bed..but I got a feeling they'll be too wide for my cab, or not big enough total volume..
If not, I don't mind pruning/LST, or even scrog if I have to....
But I'm like you; I don't wanna have to work too hard at this!!

Just checked again. 1300mm total internal height; 1100 to under the light. I reckon I could get the light maybe 50mm higher, but not much diff there...
So, yeah. 1100 is the height available. not heaps, but should be ok..

Hey, guys..
Been sick as a dog for a while.. Damn flu finally got me.

Not a lot going on. Flipped and up-canned last week; the 2 stunted plants have stretched up pretty good; the GT Fem has bushed right out after a failed topping attempt.. Didn't even end up FIMming; not sure what I did.. Must've gone for a node too high.
Topped the GT regs, and they've responded well. No sexes yet; I'm nervous I'm gonna get all females!!! Not the end of the world, but disappointing.. Otherwise, they are all going very well.
Everything looks nice and healthy, with the exception of one GT Reg, which looks a little deficient in something, probably Mag or Boron (according to the charts); but it's the only one showing any problems at all, so I'm not worried..
The auto Critical Kush is recovered nicely from the heat/light attack, and should be ready in a couple of weeks. She'll only end up at about 5-10grams, but serves me right... Otherwise, she looks and smells very nice. Here's some pics..

Took the first half a couple weeks ago and forgot until I took the next ones; latest ones from this weekend are the last 10-12..
All over the shop, at the moment.. Stuff going on work-wise; home-wise; health-wise.... Might be even more sporadic on here than usual; I will be around, tho'.
I gotta go visit Grizzs new Journal... I've been there, just not subbed... Comin over now!
Cheers!!

Could have told me you had the flu before I opened your post :cough: hope your on the up mate or uppers

Oh yeah; had a few uppers in the last few days.. "Cold and Flu" tabs have a bit of kick to em when you usually never have stuff like that... I'm sick on the couch, feeling like I wanna get up and do stuff. And then you get up, get a dizzy-spell, realize you've barely got the strength to lift your empty tea-mug (it's a big mug!), and fall back onto the couch..

My usual drugs of choice: Weed, Beer and Pizza, usually keep me calm.. And lazy!

Howdy, y'all..
Quick ish update.
I say "ish"; I got 41 pics!

All plants are charging, The GT fem is the star.. A beautiful plant. Just occurred to me now I didn't get an outdoor-natural light pic of her.. She has the faintest blue tinge on the edge of her leaves, and a nice dark colour. Plenty of pistils now, a bit of lst and minor defol has opened her up a lot; got my fingers crossed she doesn't wanna get too high..

The 2 'stunters'; the Blueberry and Strawberry Amnesia, are looking pretty good. You read a lot of good things about the strain, and this Seedsman one is supposed to be a good example.. Strong stems, good spacing (maybe a bit long but I guess we'll see how this light goes!), and a good colour. Same with the SA.. Quietly excited by the possibility of a half decent yield off these.. Relatively speaking, of course.. They are in tiny pots..I didn't bother to upcan after they stunted and I dropped the GT reg seeds.., so they were never gonna be huge plants.

The GT regs are powering. Nervous about their size, too! But they all look good. Pretty homogeneous; they all have grown, and now look, pretty much exactly the same... Couple are slightly larger/bushier.
Although still no pistils on them yet (as of yesterday morning), they all appear to be females, which kinda sux.... No seeds; no pollen.
On the half-full side: I'll have a decent amount of Golden Tiger. The Fem GT looks like being good; lots of good weed will help make up for no seeds (for now..). They are also in small pots, but there are 6 of them. Scared to upcan now, plus there's no room for 6 bigger pots anyway.
Thinking I may cull 2 of them, but I can't bring myself to do it!
So I'm maybe gonna make up a swick bed of of timber and plastic (easy enough.. I could incorporate a scrog screen; always wanted to try that, here's my chance), and cut the bottoms out of the existing pots...they can all just sit there. Humidity will be a bigger problem..but my "superfan" should handle it!! (Temps have been pretty stable in there, actually..)
This is a pretty bold move for me so I am unsure... On the other hand, it's another learning opportunity. And what the hell; I got 6 "extra" plants to play with.. No good throwing them away!! Might as well play!!
(See how I rhymed that??)

SO. Things to think about...
Pics!

These are group shots from last week.

These are the BF Critical Kush Auto, harvested Friday arvo at about 10 and a half weeks.
( I can't use or think about the word "Harvested" without hearing Metallicas Harvester Of Sorrow in my head.)
Got about an ounce wet; in 2 days she's already half at least.. I'll do well to get 5-7 grams from her, but she smells really nice. Really kushy, earthy-sweet but not too pungent. Reminds me of fresh cut "vegetation", if you know what I mean..
She turned out pretty frosty; yes there are a lot of white pistils in these pics but the microscope said she was well past peak; she might be a nice and heavy stone! For a bit of balance on the frostiness, there are a couple natural light pics.. Not a high THC strain; she smells like she could be a great smoke anyway.. We'll see...

The stand-out, Golden Tiger Feminised. Good flowering, way faster than the regs..
I just reckon she looks great. I'd like her leaves to be a bit more upright; might stop adding Grow..only using a touch...Micro has some N in it..
Gave all plants a good flush only cos I hadn't done it for a while. I feed on the lite side, so they all seem to like that.

So.. Not too bad in all. Ticking over. The BB/SA should be done in 6(BB)-9(SA) ish weeks, then another month or so for the GTs.. January before different strains go in... Seems like such a long time.
But it isn't. This will be a challenging flowering situation for me.. Mobile SCROG-swick-tray or not, 7 sativas should keep me on my toes... Will be fun, tho'. I think I've pretty much talked myself into the swick, I think.
I know it'll be a risk for cross contamination of the roots, but they all seem to be growing so similar that I reckon I should be OK if I try not to do anything stupid.. Stick to a basic feed routine, which I do anyway (I keep meaning to go and get a few additives....might hold off a bit longer and avoid the temptation to experiment!), and keep an eye on the RH. I can cover the perlite with geocloth to keep light out.......
HHhhmmmmm.. I reckon it is worth a shot...

Ok; that's it for now..!!
Take it easy!
