I have been holding off on making this comment until you could see with your own eyes what I am talking about. A traditional old style SCROG screen is typically metal, and made out of what we call out here in the country, chicken wire. There are several sizes of this stuff, but the openings are no larger than 2 inches, and I preferred the smaller 1 or 1.5 inch openings. The toughness of the metal as compared to string and the size of the openings, made it much easier to bend the plants over at the 10" point, sending everything horizontal under the screen. You will not be able to bend branches to the horizontal until the entire branch spans and exceeds the length of one of your large openings, and that is going to take a while. This large opening screen is more of a trellis, providing for support of a vertical grow at maybe a couple of feet above the soil surface... and not really a SCROG screen as I understand it. I am hoping that you will be able to accomplish your goal of bending the plant over under the screen, but I don't think your setup has the horizontal strength needed to do this job and with the large openings a lot of your buds are going to sneak their way up to the vertical, resisting your desire to SCROG them.
