Stardawg17, Dutch Bucket, Photo, Fall 2022

I have to say that this grow is a visual lesson in patience and stick-to-itiveness! It's amazing that plants that moved so slowly in the beginning can turn into those lush bushes.
Not knowing when to quit is a family trait :p

These hempy buckets really do make it easy for a beginner such as myself. I've been following the #SIPClub and think my next grow I'll incorporate the air gap and feeding tube. I'm also considering switching to @Bill284 's coco / perlite layering medium instead of straight perlite. Eventually I like the idea of the organic nute soil and feeding straight water...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Tomorrow is training, reservoir change and flip to 12/12.

Finally got around to the reservoir change. Forgot that when I added the Govee DHT module to the monitoring system I completely re-configured all my sensor inputs which changed all of their IDs. So, when I went to pull the data for my report the app failed and I had to update my codes. Then I had to re-calibrate the pH sensor. Then training and trimming the Northern Lights ladies. Quite the full day in the lab. Without further adieu I give you the final update of the vegetation phase.

I've noticed what appear to be jumping spiders in the tent the past couple of days and I was wondering what they were hunting in there. Back when I had the issue with the critters I never saw any actual bugs. Well, that all changed today.

Not the best image, but, that there is a Brown marmorated stink bug. Apparently, those buggers love munching on cannabis. So, as much as it goes against my nature, no more squishing spiders in the tent.

A few group photos with different settings on my phone. You can see the queens rebounded well after their training.

The queens have really rebounded from their training session a couple of nights ago. I also took 3 cuttings from NL1 and 3 from NL2. I also took a cutting from one of the purple queens the other night...just not sure which one. I put them into perlite in the self-watering seedling system in the 2x2 tent under the Mars Hydro TS 600 90w 2x2 quantum board led plant light. Not sure if they'll do anything but thought I would experiment.

The heat mat is set at 80F and it's about 78F inside the dome.

That is one well-trained set of plants Stardawg, :welldone:
Quite the full day in the lab
I'll say!

I have pretty good luck cloning in what are basically solo hempy cups with a hole one inch from the bottom. I put the stems in so they sit just above the water level. It takes them longer to root than the ones I use cloning liquid on and put in soil, but when I'm not in a rush it's really easy.

Also, I've never used a dome for any hydro cloning, in the hempy cup or the aeroponic cloninator®.

hat is one well-trained set of plants Stardawg,
Thanks shed! Hopefully things go well in flower 🙏

Ohhh...I thought clones were supposed to be domed for keeping in humidity. I'll remove it in the morning. I have my DHT sensor setup and programmed the control system to keep VPD around 750 Pa. It turns on a humidifier in the tent to bring it down and turns on the exhaust fan to bring it up.

Here's current state:

If they're in water (or hempy) they shouldn't need domes. Not sure how deep that tray is or how deep the water is under it, but I know mine drooped for a few hours after I cut them and then looked perfectly happy in the pic I posted.

Keep an eye on them with the dome off and see how they look.
I'm using one of these Burpee self-watering seed starting tray with a wicking mat...

hat tech is well above my pay grade! I have faith in your skills Stardawg.
It's just an experiment since I had some cuttings from the training session. I'm hoping to get a mother from each strain to keep in the 2x2 tent so I can start from clones instead of wrestling with seeds to start each grow 🙃

If it doesn't work out I guess I'll monster crop and take some cuttings after the stretch. Good timing with that cloning tutorial in the other thread.

Good idea! I'm sure if they don't droop after an hour without the dome they'll be fine. Or if you have clear solo cups you can dome some and not others and do a little experiment!

I used to take mine right around pistils, but I don't think I've waited until after stretch...too risky for my tastes! Still got the crazy branching of the monstercrops though.
Good timing with that cloning tutorial in the other thread.
Oh good, glad you saw that. I did a few mods:
I just use distilled water and not clonex liquid
I use Dip'n Grow for the cuttings rather than clonex gel
and I tip the domes back over time rather than removing them for specific intervals

But the basics are the same and my success rate is in the high 90s.

The girls are really thirsty. They've gone through 8+ gallons since Saturday. I had to add another 8 gallons of nutes to the reservoir. They appear to have responded to training quite well.

Well...I think the bugs may have returned.

These are from PQ1. Some holes in the leaves. The pistils look yellow and twisty and burntish. These photos didn't turn out well. This was one of the tops and that little leaf at the bottom was the very topmost. The tips looked like the pistils on that little bud.

I don't want to risk spaying with the Mammoth again, so I need to figure out what these are and the best way to get rid of them.

Took advantage of being off work today to get things done in the lab. Below is my weekly update. The numbers are kinda whack because of some issues w/ the monitoring system...but...the averages are about right.

I'm still not sure what kind of bug is munching on the ladies. I thought they were stink bugs, but, I've only seen the one adult in the tent about a week ago. I wasn't able to locally source Safer insecticide, so, I had to use Captain Jack's.

Also, since my last cloning experiment didn't work out I built a version of The 10-Minute Bubble Cloner of @Emilya Green.

I also raised the lights about 10". I've got them on an extended lights-off session until the Captain Jack's dries. I don't want a repeat of the damage done to NL1 by the Mammoth spray. I think this one would be OK since it's not oil-based, but, I'm not taking chances.

I also had an issue with my feed system this week. I should not have waited so long to investigate, but, I noticed after adding another 8 gallons of nutes to the reservoir the level never dropped. I knew this wasn't right after they drank so much in 4 days. When I took the buckets out of the tent tonight for the spraying they were light. Like very very light. Like no water in the bottom of the bucket light. After changing the nutes to the bloom schedule tonight I did a test run and the system appears to be operational so I have no idea what went wrong.

Hopefully I have a better week where things go according to plan 🙏
