Stanks Switch It Up In 2019

Sorry about the PM Van! I've been fighting with it since the summer, but in flower I've been using watered down milk every 4 or 5 days which seemed to work. Neem in veg works wonders though.

The buds are looking greasy and sticky and the foxtails are nuts on that Black Widow...it's almost all foxtails! And @Archiweedies had one of his go into flower with that light change last winter, so obviously Zkittlez is another one sensitive to that 2 hour difference.
Sure did! That was my Durban Poison from Dutch Passion with the purple buds that reacted to a two hour reduction in daytime length. Super strange but I guess some cultivars are sensitive to “winter” coming lol

I am surprised you don't have a stash of horsetail ferns. Stuff is like a weed everywhere. Bob got me onto the stuff. Its in my soil for silica but I also have a bunch of dried stuff for ACT, top dress, or make a foliar tea...to prevent powdery mildew.

information that would have been useful 8 months ago when horsetail fern was growing in the parking lot lol

I had PM in Philly last grow and a brought a few cuts I have in flower showed signs again they have PM. My grow temps and RH is PERFECT finally. 40%-50%RH - temps 68F-72F every day all day. Everything new and clean.

I forgot about the HT fern tea - I'm gonna make some today and add it to my IPM. Thanks Urb for reminding me.

I read somewhere the sulfur will add a flavor that is hard to get rid of when in flower.

Someone may know better than I. Please shout out on the sulfur deal.

I've found that PM is hard as hell to get rid of.

Tools for the grower tool box:

Stylet Oil
Milk
H2o2 sprayed on the leaves diluted with water kill on contact
Serenade foliar
enzyme foliar - Tweetmint from BAS
short exposure to ultra violet light
Actinovate - Woody suggested

I've tried all these with exception to the milk. We dont drink it so I dont have any handy.

Several pronged approach to the PM is what I'm finding works best. I've been reading a lot about how grape growers deal with it. We got it easy compared to them. Its VERY common in grapes and will ruin the fruit and just about kill the vines. They use heavy duty pesticides we cant use in our homes.

GL with the PM.

ZkittleZ looks mighty fine. Gonna be a nice little haul there.

Thanks for posting the pics, making my mouth water. yum.

keeping the foliage wet during a burn helps from the plant absorbing the vapors from the sulfur. I spray the plants down after I turn all fans, ac, dehueys off. After I burn, turn all stuff back on and make sure they are dry before lights back on the girls.

Thanks for chiming in Bob...getting ready to start spraying stuff this afternoon/evening. Bob turned me on to the Serenade product and been looking into it....watched a few Tube vids on it and have a better understanding of how it works. I like that type approach with a products....a natural bacteria to combat the PM and other issues.

Also talked to @neikodog as he dealt with PM as well. He was the one that highly recommended the Sulfur burn. He did two burns and never had PM again. I like that approach, especially in the basement. I don't want random spores flying around everywhere waiting to land on my next plant. I can deal with a bit of a funky smell if means getting rid of this stuff. I know @dynamo1 also really recommends the sulfur burn.

I will definitely make Serenade a part of my IPM routine...which I will admit, I slacked with for about the last 3-4 weeks (since preparing and having the basement work done). Nothing like a good left hook from the growing Gods to get your attention and let you know you are SLACKING!!!

Yeah I was wondering if the slight reduction was going to cause any issues....but it was only the Zkittles and possibly one other plant I recently moved down to the other tent. Thanks for swinging by Archi! Have a great day bud!

If I recall correctly, PM spores are killed at a temperature well below decarb if you want to use them for ingestables.

My Candidas had a lot of PM on them and I seem okay using the oil sublingually. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I have heard that but I would prefer not to take any chance with it.....I have enough stuff coming out that I can throw any questionable stuff into the topical pile. I am getting a bigger and bigger fan base of the topicals so if I get a bunch of stuff that is questionable, I will just make another batch and send it out as gifts.

A burn is a great way to get it under control. I had used it in the past with good results. Using it late flower I would be careful to not burn it for too long and when you do a burn it’s good to be super high humidity. I would even mist my plants down with water before a burn. Hope you get it sorted bud. I hate that shit with a passion

Thanks for chiming in Shotta, RH is definitely going to be an obstacle right now....its plummeted into the 40-45% range. I turned off my dehumidifier. I will do a short burn with humidifier on in the tents......and then do some longer burns in the open basement areas.
Plants looking amazing as usual! Sorry about the pm! I had to do a burn once and it really stunk. That was in my small basement inside a tent and the smell got into the house. It took a couple weeks for the smell to dissipate but it did. I was as quick as I could going in at the end but breathing in there was harsh. I'm sure you know to cover your lights or remove from the room. I said to myself, never again, that I would simply cull, clean up and start over BUT I dunno. I still have my burner and sulfur and my grow is in a shed so maybe. I had my huey on and rh was 99. The burn got rid of the pm!

:passitleft:

Yeah Neiko recommended removing the lights so I will definitely do that!! Don't think there is much of a chance of me reaching that high of RH.....but we will get it as high as we can. Thanks for chiming in bud! :passitleft:

PM is insidious by the time we see it we pretty screwed.

I might try the sulfur burn thing

The equipment ain't cheap for the silver burn.

Another product I read that was recommended was pro-tekt potassium silicate

Makes the cell layer the PM needs to feed on super tough and much harder for the PM to penetrate.

From what I've read/heard the burn is the only sure fire way to eradicate it. The burner and sulfur are not that expensive, less than 150 for both I'd say.

:passitleft:
Thats pretty accurate....I think I paid 120 for the burner and then 15 for the sulfur. Still waiting for it to get here.

I know Ms Stank has a lot of apprehension about me burning in the basement but she's onboard with getting rid of this shit as fast and thoroughly as possible. Not a big fan of all these man hours I am spending spraying and hunting for that stuff. I sprayed and inspected plants for about 11 hours yesterday and about 5 so far today. Each new spot I find just pisses me off more LOL.

Alright alright alright!! Taking a break from spraying and cutting leaves to knock out an update real quick and then get back to it. Only a couple more girls to go....which is good cause I stuff that needs to be harvested!

Anywho.....we been spraying with the serenade and getting them nice and soaked. Had to do a bit of watering as well. Should be clearing out some spots here real soon! The Panama Haze is getting real close (She's at 100 days tomorrow I believe) and the Labyrinth is in the window right now. The Afghani needs a few more days to dense up but she is finishing fast. Grandpa Glue is about a week or so out out and I need to take a peek at the last Stank Surprise. Jars gonna get filled real soon! :ganjamon:

Purple Orange CBD (Fem) - Dinafem - Flip Day 36

Ms Stanks girl continues to do her thang. Gave her some water yesterday and she got sprayed this morning. She hardly blinked at the spraying....that girl is a tank. Everyone else has been needing bamboo poles (opps...I am out now...but the zon gonna have some new ones here tomorrow) but she hardly even sagged. Dat girl stout!!!

Getting some really nice citrus undertones to this one. Looking forward to seeing how she progresses in flower!

Afghani #1 (Fem) - Sensi Seeds - Flip Day 55

Need bamboo for this girl. Haven't given her a full on spray yet....just been hitting her with water and H2O2 and cutting off any leaves that have any spots on them. When I get the bamboo tomorrow, I will support her up and spray the crap outta her. I don't see this one going much longer. She has densed up quite a bit the last week and has a bit more to go. She's been throwing a lot of nanners down low but they all seem to be sterile....guess we'll know for sure soon enough. Funny....when you are battling PM, nanners don't seem like that big of a deal LOL. Scents off this one are really unusual...I can't even begin to describe it.

To be Continued..........

Gorilla Glue #4 (Clone) - Grandpa Tokin Cut - Flip Day 55

Winding down on this lady. She continues to be a breeze to grow but started to eat her leaves finally about a week ago. Plucked off all the ugly ones before her photo shoot. She got some water yesterday and sprayed today. I give her about a week and she will be getting chopped. Buds are pretty dense on her but they are swelling still so gonna let that finish.

Labyrinth (S1) - Exotic Genetix - Flower Day 55 (Slow transition)

Saved the best for last. This one is probably the closest for being ready to be chopped out of this group. I could probably chop her this weekend and she would be perfect. Probably gonna chop her Monday.....gonna take down the Black Widow this weekend.

Talk about a girl that likes to steal the show. Man, she might just be the frostiest plant I have grown....amazing amounts of frost. The other thing thats cool about her is she is kinda trimming herself. All her leaves are just slowly fading and falling right off. Just gonna leave these right here and get my butt back down to trimming after I smoke a bowl.

First, as usual, your plants look greasy good and your jars will be full of awesome goodness soon. Second, serenade worked for me on my outdoor grow hitting them every 3 days. No noticeable taste issue in my opinion. Followed up with a good wash including h2o2. Third, you just can't catch a freaking break! Let this be the last in the run please. Dang!

Thanks Otter, appreciate the kind words brother. Jars will be filling up quickly my friend, very pleased about that.

Doesn't seem like I can catch a break but I do my best to try to see it as an opportunity to learn! It could always be worse!! Thankful I caught it when I did!

Man, I got my ass stomped pretty good by that Skunk last night. Haven't been hit by a strain like that in a LONG while. Much more of an indica effect than I was expecting. I switched it up to smoke some Stank Surprise tonight....a bit more easy going LOL.

Labyrinth looks stellar.

I'm using serenade every 3 days. I have 2 plants same cultivar i brought with me as cuts from philly they had a few spots been treating them for like 10 days.

I'm not gonna wish it was mites but still. PM is much more invasive.

GL with the sulfur burn.

Like for many pests, a several pronged attack is best.

I tried green-cure last night. I got some pistol burn not bad but unexpected.

Plants look great brother, despite the PM battles! Cheers Stanks!
Thanks Archi! Trimmers are going full speed here lately. Chopped the Black Widow and Zkittlez today. Widow ended up going 104 days. Panama Haze is coming down tomorrow!! Hope you had a great weekend bud!
